The Game's Afoot! [Completed]

Character(s): Basil, open to all
Content: The Great Mouse Detective has come to Paixao
Setting: Joutenheim gate
Time: Late evening
Warnings: ...Basil is kind of a dick. >.>

"Toby? Toby, here boy!" Basil whistled to call the hound to him, as he took his magnifying glass to the ground to inspect the rather peculiar form of grass that was growing all around him. "Very strange indeed..." He pulled up the magnifying glass, looking up and around a blade of the grass until he finally ended up with the glass pointed directly at Toby's drooling tongue, lolling out of the hound's mouth as he panted. Basil straightened up and put his magnifying glass in his coat.

"Well then. Toby, it looks like we've been spirited away to some strange new world. At least, that is if my hypothesis is correct." He grinned and thrust his arm across his chest. "What a marvelous opportunity! And if I'm right, there won't be a single sign of that dastardly Ratigan anywhere!" The thought both intrigued and excited the mouse. The only places he'd ever really seen were in and around London, save for just a little bit of traveling. And all those places hadn't been nearly so exotic as all this.

"Come Toby, take me to that line of people standing over there." The dog wagged his tail and continued to just stare at Basil, until the mouse raised his voice. "TOBY, SIT!" The hound's rear end hit the ground with enough force that Basil had to steady himself on his feet again, and then Toby lowered his head so his owner could climb aboard. "All right Toby, let's go!" The dog bounded off at full speed, only to skid to a stop once they made it to the line.

Kairi knelt down so the dog, who apparently was named Toby by what the mouse was shouting, could sniff her hand. She smiled warmly, moving her hand to pet him gently on the head. If he liked the way she smelled and he would allow her, of course. "Well hello," the red head said, laughing softly. The dog was cute, or at least she thought so.

"I'm sorry, I didn't... mean to distract him on you." Kairi looked up a bit now, offering another smile to Basil. It was difficult not to stare too curiously, as interested as she was, she didn't want to appear rude or to scare him off.

"Welcome to Paixao."
