Cooking By The Book [Active]
Character(s): Lumiere, Beast, and Vanille
Content: Lumiere and Vanille bake a pretty cake.
Setting: Beast's Apartment
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: None.
One had not truly lived without exploding at least one cake in their lifetime. The way Lumiere saw it, in order to make a successful cake one had to make a disastrous one first. Vanille had already done that and from what she had told him, he could only assume it had been quite the mess. That was good; the bigger the mishap, the better. That meant she would learn all the more from his little cooking lesson. Granted, he had not intended to teach her anything particularly challenging. Should by some odd chance there be an error and yet another cake lost in before reaching ones stomach, Lumiere preferred it to be one which took less work to clean up.
Other than a few ingredients he had asked the girl to retrieve last minute, Lumiere had everything lain out on the kitchen counter that they would need. He surveyed the display thoughtfully and ran through a list of all they required. As far as he could tell, he had thought of everything… Except permission from the Master that he have a guest. Though, it was not as though Vanille was a stranger. Beast had spoken with the girl on a few occasions from what Lumiere had seen. Her presence in the house surely would not be of that great inconvenience. From what Lumiere could tell, the girl liked him and would be good company. He could not possibly object. At least, he hoped not.
Lumiere peered into the Beast’s room, not bothering to knock on the door before he entered. “Master?”

Lumiere peered into the Beast’s room, not bothering to knock on the door before he entered. “Master?”

"What?" Beast went bolt upright in an instant, all thoughts of Belle banished by the servant's sudden interruption.
no subject
“Pardon my intrusion, Master. I had not meant to interrupt your thoughts.” Especially when they were regarding Belle. “I only wish to inform you that we will be having a guest this afternoon."
no subject
"What are they going to be doing here?" The question was an obvious one, though Beast couldn't fathom what the answer could possibly be. It made him...nervous, to have a stranger coming here. "And why can't you meet them somewhere else?"
no subject
“We will be baking, a cake to be exact. They have not the proper tools or facilities so I thought I would offer our kitchen as well as my personal expertise. You need not worry. They will explore nothing more than our kitchen and its many cabinets and drawers.” He idly wondered if he tried to bribe Beast with cookies it would help sway his decision. Not that he had exactly asked if Vanille could come over, more assumed it would not be of trouble.
no subject
"There must be somewhere else the two of you can go." Even if the guest was told to come nowhere near this room, that was no guarantee they would stay out. And what was Beast himself to do for all that time? Stay cooped up in here?
no subject
“This is no stranger I have invited.” He explained, idly playing with a flame between his two ‘hands’. Perhaps Beast would feel more at ease knowing it was someone he knew who was on their way. “It is the sweet and beautiful Vanille, from the journals. ”
no subject
"If she comes here, you must promise me she won't see anything in this room, no matter what. Do you understand?" He looked directly at his servant, who thankfully was standing in the doorway--where Beast wouldn't have to see all the wreckage he'd created.
no subject
“Of course!” Lumiere squeaked, his voice cracking out nervousness from the sudden deep and piercing eyes that had locked on him. Unable to look away, he cleared his throat in hopes he would find his voice again. “You can count on me.” It wasn’t a promise, but it was certainly close and an honest attempt he would make to obey. He would try to keep the girls curiosity at bay and have her as occupied as possible in the kitchen, even while they waited for it to bake in the oven. However, it would not be out of fear of her seeing the rose, but rather her seeing Master’s temper.
