Center Of The World [Completed]
Character(s): Lady, Dante, Kanda Yuu
Content: Lady and Dante arrive in the central Actua Are, only to run into one very stubbornroadblock Exorcist.
Setting: Central Paixao and its Actua Are
Time: Thursday evening
Warnings: none so far
Most of the day was devoted to walking. It may have been a few inches on the map, but it was a long haul from the mighty gate of Vanaheim to the city’s center. And all along the way, the same patterns continued. Not a real tree to be seen, though the ones that were around were pretty neat to look at. There were no dogs playing in the streets or lazy cats laying on porches. No animals at all. That was weird in itself. There were statues, but they didn’t do justice to their subjects.
There was nothing living in the city, aside from the people. And even they were questionable. Many seemed vapid, happy in whatever world they were in. How else could there be such smiles in such a place? For that matter, how could people be happy about being here? Who would even come voluntarily?! Dante hadn’t seen hide nor hair of anything that would draw people here in droves. And yet they were everywhere.
The city center was disappointing. It was far from the flashy metropolis Dante had imagined. (Like they could have fit a metropolis in the domes anyway!) Still, it was better than the section they’d walked through. Each step towards the city brought trees made of higher quality materials and more accurate portrayals in the animal statues. The buildings grew more detailed and decorated. Businesses appeared. They were finally getting somewhere!
The grand hotel wasn’t that grand, but it would do. Dante wondered about the currency exchange, but the hotel clerk was more than happy to relieve him of his money. He bought two separate rooms for a few days. They could always be renewed if they needed to stay longer. He hoped they wouldn’t have to.
Dante tossed Lady a room key. “This should be a bit better than that O Pastor place you were telling me about.” ‘Or at least it should be, what with how much I paid!’ “Your room’s on the first floor towards the left, and mine’s down the hall a ways to the right so you can have some privacy. Come and go as you want. I don’t care what you do.” She was, after all, quite capable of making her own schedule. “As for me, I’m going to find a restaurant. Should be one around here somewhere, what with all these people around.”
