Not an Answer to the Earth [Active/Closed]
Character(s): Riku, Terra
Content: Riku and Terra meet again in familiar surroundings
Setting: Destiny Islands Beach
Time: Dusk. Week 31.
Warnings: Concern, angst, introspection, and some OMG tossed in.
Time to think. That's what Riku told Sora he'd needed. But whether that was what he really needed, not even Riku knew for sure. He knew the fight was the fault of the fog. He knew that he hadn't fully been wrong, and that he had seen Sora do things, though it had not been the Sora he knew. He also knew Sora felt no need to forgive him, feeling there was nothing his friend had done to forgive. Logically, everything was fine.
But it still felt like it was no excuse for having fought his friend yet again. And Riku knew he had still let his suspicions get the best of him again, even before the fog had rolled in. That much was still true, even if his doubts were well-founded. If it weren't for talking to Namine... Well, it was hard to know what would have happened until someone administered an antidote. He'd been lucky enough to break through the virus before that.
Thinking about what could have happened really didn't matter, though. ...This wasn't time to think.
It was time to be alone. And to let his mind and heart reconcile.
So Riku stood on the fake beach, halfway between the imitation of the tiny island where they all relaxed and the mock dock that always represented going home to family. Not even the sun he stared out to was real. But it still gleamed upon the ocean with the same brilliance, causing him to long for days lost that he knew better than to try to regain.

The world this floor was holding surprised Terra. He hadn't ever expected to see this world again. He walked across the beach, taking in the scenery, footsteps crunching in the sand. Though, at the moment, he didn't notice the other boy on the beach.

He slowly approached the boy.

Riku's eyes widened as his heart thumped. There was something familiar about all this. He paused.
After a moment, blue sparks condensed out of the air and formed a Keyblade made of wings in his hand. The eye of the hilt seemed to stare at the newcomer. With a brief spin, Riku planted the tip deep into the sand, leaving it to stand there unsupported by his own hands. The keychain clinked softly in the sea breeze.
The teen said nothing, waiting only to see how the newcomer would respond.

But, wait, the boy had a Keyblade, it had to be him.
"Riku?"
Terra never introduced himself in the cutscene.
"I never told anyone. It helped I forgot about it." He paused, pocketing his thumb. "...I don't remember your name."
no subject
"I don't think I ever told you my name." He eventually said, and the only reason Terra knew Riku's was because he heard his friend call it out.
"It's Terra."

"Why'd you pick me?"

"What makes you say that?"

"...I let my jealousy get the better of me. I did awful things to get enough power to try to save a friend. Betrayed my best friend. I even tried to take his Keyblade from him. ...I succeeded for a while."
The teen looked back solemnly at the last rays of the sunset. "I destroyed my home."

He wondered, in making this boy his successor, had he doomed him to the Darkness too?
no subject
"...He forgave me. Whether or not I'm worthy of that or the Keyblade, all I can do is just keep fighting and try to set it all right. For him and Kairi."
no subject
"Sometimes that's all you can do," Terra replied found his voice again.

He assumes Terra is a Master.
"Never thought it could happen to a Master, but... None of us are above that path, huh?"

Master or not, they were still in the same boat. That was still fact.
