FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC. [ complete ]

Character(s): Kuja & Scar
Content: Arrival into the city of Paixao~ ahh! So magical!
Setting: Vanaheim Gate.
Time: Mid-morning? Why not. Week 31.
Warnings: Fabulosity~! Threats. So far. (and that's just with kuja... o_O )

"I suggest you not toy with me, it's so unfortunate to get off on the wrong foot," he suggested in a pleasant tone, though his expression hardly matched. He leaned in over the counter and rested his head on his hand, perched up by the elbow. "Now, as I was saying, a place like this is hardly befitting someone of my expertise. So it would be in your best interest to open up whatever sort of gateway you decided to use, and reverse the process."

"I'm sorry, you must step aside so that the line can proceed..."

"Perhaps I'm not making myself clear..." Kuja was beginning to show obvious annoyance, that seemed to be on a fast track to deteriorating into violence. "Now if you don't open the portal back up in the next two minutes, you will soon find that your imitation grass and flowers you've got here make quite suitable kindling. Open it. Now."

The lady was backing up, her hands up in defense. "I... I have nothing to do with -- "

Now this was certainly out of the ordinary. Rarely did Scar ever wander to this part of the city, dingy and dirty as he often found it to be, but for such a display to be going on the one day he did was quite fortunate.

"You may as well just give up, that pathetic creature can't do much of anything, much less send you back where you came from." He spoke as he approached, the crowd parting only slightly to let him past. They didn't give him as much space in these parts...he'd have to lean why that was.

"If you must know, you're just as stuck here as the rest of us. Now the sooner you accept your fate, the sooner you can move on and do something useful with your time rather than just threatening that wretched, pointless creature." The condescension in his tone made the girl at the gate scowl at him, but when she saw his teeth she quickly changed the expression to one rather more fitting--she was now cowering behind the desk.

"Sadly, I've been in this city for quite some time. Of course, there is far more to it than meets the eye," Scar sat on his haunches and examined a paw, "but couldn't the same be said of just about anywhere?" He flicked his gaze back to the silver haired man. The scent wasn't human, not quite...in fact, it reminded him rather a lot of Wolf's friend Zidane. How...interesting.

"You may want to learn how to use that," he continued, indicating the journal with the subtlest incline of his head. "I can assure you it will make your time here far easier." Now...to learn just what it was that made this biped and Zidane so similar.

"You're just as welcome as any to try to leave, though I assure you that you won't be successful. The only way out is to play in the Organization's little game." Scar went back to examining his paw.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"It's difficult to believe that the Organization could be any sort of deities, but other than that? Yes. Though the condition is far from being so simple."

Scar didn't venture immediately to explain what exactly that meant. This man would be perfectly capable of asking the particular things he was interested in.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"No one is really sure. All we know is that we have to climb to the top of the castle--the first floor of which we're in right now."

Scar didn't particularly care if the man believed him or not, considering how perfectly ludicrous the statement sounded.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh of course. They've been far to cowardly to show their faces for more than a few moments at a time." Scar looked back up from his paw at last. Most would have asked as to the truth of the castle idea, so such quick acceptance of the idea came as something of a surprise.

"It sounds like you've been in a situation like this before."

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Scar. And while I may not seem to be offended by this situation, I assure that that a King separated from his kingdom is never a happy one." Scar's eyes followed the movement, his head turning only slightly.

"And your name would be...?"

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Scar's brow twitched, but like the man he was skilled at keeping such things well under control. Years of dealing with his brother had taught him quite well to hide any such sins of annoyance. If Kuja thought he would win any points with Scar with such an overblown display he has sadly mistaken, especially since they were well outside Scar's Pride Lands.

"Charmed. It might be of interest to you that someone of your same...unique race is also in this city. He goes by the name of...Zidane, I believe."

(ooc: Heather said I was allowed to mention Zidane only if you wait till she's off hiatus next week to make a journal post with him. XD)

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, you do know him. He's a friend of a young man called Wolf, if you want to look for him."

Kuja's chiding tone gave Scar some idea of the relationship between him and Zidane. That, and the man's demeanor, which was beginning to remind Scar of his own...when he cared to exercise his ability to control it, at any rate.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Frankly I don't pay him much attention. For all I know he's done nothing at all since he came here. At any rate, 'hero' has very little meaning in a place when everyone is in the same position, wouldn't you agree?"

Of course, Scar said nothing of what he thought of heroes...which was, it seemed, much the same opinion as Kuja's.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
"You sound like you have a lot of experience with them." Scar had been lucky enough to avoid just about all of them since his brother's death. None of the lionesses on their own were brave enough to do much more than give him a little trouble every once in a while, and having the entire clan of hyenas around had kept them under control.

But Scar had been meeting some of them in his time here. That brat Sora, to name one.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-04 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can't say I know anyone who would be," Scar answered with something of a sneer. "And I do hope that your 'new possibilities' make allowances for more of them, because this city seems to be brimming with 'goody-goody' types."

Scar was no longer concerned with keeping up his appearance. Kuja seemed to be a kindred spirit of a sort, if nothing else, and while Scar didn't have to reveal anything of significance about himself, he could at least stop pretending that everything here didn't annoy him for a little while.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Agreement? You do remember that they don't tend to be open to negotiations?"

Kuja was definitely starting to seem more and more like someone who might prove very useful in Scar's future endeavors. For now, of course, Scar would leave any sort of details alone, in favor of testing the waters and making sure he knew just what Kuja was about. But eventually, he would have to test this man, and see just how many "heroes" he'd be able to deal with.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh of course. If anyone can keep a secret it's me." No one was around to tell Kuja what a foolish move it was to trust Scar with much of anything, though arrival to the city wasn't exactly the most important thing that had ever happened to the man.

"After all, no one wants to see all the heroes get all the glory."

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Unfortunately, they're rather good at it. They're hardly ever very good at showmanship, either. It's frightfully boring to see them getting all the attention all the time."

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
"I know of a place you might be welcome, if you're willing to see." Maleficent might just find Kuja interesting enough to keep around. And Scar didn't mind the idea of having one there who actually appeared to be intelligent, either.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Scar made a face. "It takes some getting used to. But the company is worthwhile." He paused. "Comparatively, anyway."

Hm...but if he was going to bring this man to City Hall, it would be wise to...test him first. Shadows and Soldiers would be enough, Scar thought, to give some idea of Kuja's worthiness.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Certainly." Scar turned on his hind legs with a sway of his hips, and something of a grin sat across his muzzle. All around Kuja, small pools of shadow welled up from the cobblestone pavement, and shadows started pulling themselves out. Soldiers appeared from their dark portals, landing and shaking from side to side as their small dance announced their presence.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Scar stopped, and turned around, making a small show of looking surprised. "Heartless. One of the less...appealing aspects of the city. You might want to be careful of them, they can be rather...relentless."

Just to keep up appearances, Scar allowed some to attack him as well. Not that Shadows or Soldiers could hold their own against him.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Certainly." Scar backed up to what he believed would be a safe distance. He'd seen some very powerful displays in his time here, and he wasn't about to underestimate the one he might be about to see. Though of course...he would be disappointed if it didn't live up to his expectations.

Scar was sure to swipe at a Shadow as it attempted to strike him, though, turning the creature back to shadowy dust.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-08 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Scar had yet to be impressed. Even he could do better than what Kuja was displaying so far. His claws ripped another Shadow to shreds, while his eyes remained trained on the man.

[identity profile] i-killedmufasa.livejournal.com 2011-05-09 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Impressive," Scar said, smiling. Yes, Kuja would make a great addition to their little team. "Those ones were very weak, though. Don't expect it to always be so easy."

Scar again turned on his hind paws and started on his way, this time confident that he was bringing with him an excellent catch.
