You all just lost the Game [open]

Character(s): Joshua, anyone else!
Content: Joshua arrives in Paixao. Yup.
Setting: Muspelheim
Time: Evening. Ish.
Warnings: Joshua.

It had been a fairly normal day in Shibuya. Well, as normal as it ever got with the Composer. The RG was moving along as normal, the UG was taking a break, the Higher Plane was annoyed with him for his 'egregious rule breaking,' not much of note. In fact, it had been positively boring since his game with Megumi.

Joshua had been so driven mad by the dullness everything had lapsed into (again, he might add) that he'd taken a trip into the RG, to walk around and try to see if anything had actually been changed. And he would say it had, if said walk had lead him to Shibuya.

The boy walked through a large gate, observing the sudden change in scenery for barely a moment before he was handed what appeared to be a tablet or something akin to it and pushed into a city that was very obviously not a part of Shibuya.

"Huh." Joshua turned, looking back through the gate, and upon not seeing Shibuya, shrugged and continued walking. No use turning back, then.

You're evil X(

Suki had yet to actually really take in the sights of this city and that was a crime considering how long she'd been there. The trip through to Spira hadn't gone very well and since then, Suki had been hesitant to try any other gates or floors or whatever they were. So she'd been stuck in boring land, as annoyed by it as Toph.

Today, though, she'd decided to take a walk around and that was exactly what she was doing when she walked past Muspelheim Gate that evening. She'd craned her neck around to see if she could spot anyone she knew in the line, but she couldn't see anyone, so she turned to leave. Someone muttered something behind her, catching her attention, and she turned back around.

"...I guess you're new then?" she asked the unfamiliar person behind her. "Welcome to the city."

Anymore, Balthier seemed to gravitate to the city's entrances. As dull as playing messenger to Paixao's ways could quickly become, that dullness tended to be tempered by the plethora of... interesting individuals wandering through the gates. Even those who looked more on the ordinary side could turn out to be quite extraordinary at best and fairly amusing at least if enough attention was paid. It helped that the new arrivals were so easy to spot.

And yet, even given all that, Balthier had, at first, nearly passed over the young man. He seemed rather... plain, really, compared to what Balthier was used to and, aside from the hair and considerably simpler form of dress, blended in much better than most newcomers did. But now that the sky pirate gave the young man another look, he realized that, yes, there was indeed something a little different here, mainly the fact that the boy hardly seemed bothered by his situation at all. And while Balthier was certain that such reactions were far from impossible, it was rare enough to pique Balthier's curiosity.

At least he wouldn't be without entertainment today.

Lucky for him, a young lady Balthier was sure he had seen on the journals once or twice appeared to perform the welcome to the city. "New and hardly fazed..." he said, adding his own two cents to the girl's welcome, "Not a common combination I must say."

It seemed Suki's assessment of the other man had been correct. She glanced over as someone else walked up, taking in the outfit and his manner of speech. He had a point, though. Most people came through the gates really confused or in denial. This one didn't seem to be worried at all.

"It usually is a first for most people," she agreed. "The city's called Paixao. I don't think anyone's heard of it before they got here."

Well, none she'd talked to anyway, but at least that meant that everyone was on an equal playing field.

Balthier nodded in the girl's direction. "Or if they have, they're among some of the lucky individuals to wind up back in this fair prison." For the briefest of moments, Balthier's smirk fell from his face. Paixao had its amusements to be sure, but on the whole, it had lost its charm for him long ago. Each day the temptation to take matters into his own hands and try and get further up the castle for escape's sake, rather than for sating his curiosity and leaving escape in the hands of others. Getting involved with these sorts of matters was one of the lowest items on Balthier's list of priorities, but desperate times led to desperate measures.

But... he wasn't quite to that point yet.

"You're like to hear of many places you've never heard of before here. Quite the motley crew of visitors find themselves wandering into this place."

"It is what it sounds like," Suki answered with a shrug. "No one's been able to escape it intentionally yet."

But that didn't mean no one could. After all, the Boiling Rock had had a record of no escapes until Sokka and Zuko broke in and got a couple of them out. If that was possible, then Suki believed it was possible to escape this one. The trick was coming up with a plan that would work. They just didn't know enough about the place yet.

"I'm Suki. Nice to meet you."

"Which is why it's so strange--or suspicious, I should say," he said, once again continuing off of Suki's words. "Can't leave, get brought back if you try? Nevermind the fact that you never know whether or not the returning party will have memories of the event." Balthier shrugged, figuring the boy would get the point. Rather annoying that. The sense of surprise wasn't exactly worth it.

"Balthier," he said simply.

"A little of both," Suki answered, glancing at Balthier. "I think he's been here longer than I have, but even if you've only been here a week or so, you get used to seeing the 'missing person' notices."

Which scared her, honestly. No one knew who would be the next one to go and if it was Sokka, Suki knew she wouldn't take it well.

apologies for shortness

Balthier frowned a little. "Afraid I lost count awhile ago," he said through a sigh. "And I'm not like to be the only one."

:Ta ♥ XD

Suki shrugged, offering a smile anyway. "You're welcome. This is actually the first time I've done the meet and greet thing. Seeing who comes through the gates isn't so bad."

Maybe she'd have to do this more often.

"After awhile you tend to get used to the questions. Should you find yourself in want of more information, I would suggest a perusal of the message boards. You'd be surprised just how much one can find if he searches hard enough." It was more than could be said in one sitting here, at least not without a few hours to be had.
