Vyers' only response to the two dolls before him at first was a flat, unimpressed stare. Did they think him a fool? While he had been a little tired at first, he hadn't been in the tub anywhere near long enough to fall asleep. He had only just gotten comfortable! And while he might have been able to come up with some sort of reason he would be dreaming about finely-crafted porcelain dolls (although he would have to reach a bit on those reasons), he couldn't come up with any explanation behind why he would be dreaming of a cowboy doll.
"You are aware that that sort of characterization of consciouses does not fit quite as well when the one you speak with is a devil himself?" he asked them after a moment. Technically, Vyers saw many things wrong with that metaphor on the whole but that was a long argument that was best not gotten into right now.
