Sanctuary [Active/Closed]

Character(s): Naminé and Kairi
Content: A Nobody finally meets her Somebody
Setting: Cafe Ersesat by Nifleheim
Time: Week 29, midday
Warnings: Cavities. Yup.

Naminé had never actually met Kairi before this. Sure, she'd tried to talk to her Other a few times and had always meant to go out and meet her sometime, but then Kairi had disappeared and things had just turned different. Naminé was still trying to wrap her head around it all. But now that her life (or nonexistence, whichever) had calmed down a little, she'd contacted Kairi.

And now they were going to actually meet. And Naminé was nervous.

She was sitting at one of the tables, hands wrapped around a mug of hot cocoa, as she waited for Kairi to arrive. She had things to talk about, things she wanted to know. Mostly, she just wanted to get to know Kairi a little more. Oddly enough.

Kairi had met her Nobody before, but that didn't mean she was any less inclined to want to see her. The few times they had been together, Naminé had managed to help her out quite a bit. Any chance to sit and chat with the girl was fine by Kairi. So now the redhead was making her way from the home she shared with Sora to the little cafe Naminé had suggested to meet at. it took her some time to locate it on her map and then actually get there, but she found it within a reasonable amount of time.

As she pushed open the door, Kairi pushed some hair behind her ear in a typical habitual gesture, and looked around. Spotting Naminé, she strolled over, clasping her hands behind her back.

"Hi Naminé." Her voice was friendly and warm as she reached out to take a seat across from the blond girl.

I am. So fail. Forever.

Naminé looked just a little different than Kairi remembered. A bit shorter, more uneasy and timid... but she was still Naminé. Some part of her still felt strange, as if she was looking in an inaccurate mirror when she was saw her Nobody, yet she couldn't say the feeling effected the fact that she liked the other girl.

"I remember you saying you hadn't met me before... I guess we really are from different times." Kairi smiled a bit, "But I'm glad to see you."

Leaning forward a bit, the redhead rested her elbow on the table and her chin on her palm. "So tell me, what did you want to talk about?"

"That's fine, I understand," Kairi said softly, tilting her head a bit. After seeing Naminé look down, she tried to back off a bit. It never really occurred to her how shy her Other could be, since... well, Kairi wasn't shy at all most of the time.

Considering her question for a moment, the redhead nodded slowly. She'd understood. "I think you might be. I can't say for sure, because in my time we've only met once. I don't really know what you were doing before we met, but you look... a bit younger than me."

At the moment, a waitress stopped at their table to ask Kairi for her order. The girl just asked for hot cocoa too so they could continue their conversation. "What was going on before you arrived?"

She waited for Naminé to speak, quietly watching the other girl at the moment. "Twilight Town... I've been there." Of course, she'd only been there a short time, but long enough to make a few new friends that she would like to go back and visit one day. She blinked at the unfamiliar name that was then mentioned.

"Xion?" She hadn't met her at all, actually. She might have heard the name somewhere on the network around here but the moment she wasn't placing it. She'd never actually met or spoken to the girl. "Well, you managed to do it. At least, I think so... because Sora was fine when I saw him later."

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-03-25 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
While still incredibly curious as to who exactly Xion was and what Naminé had meant by making everyone forget so Sora could remember, she held her tongue. She was sure if Naminé could explain that she would have.

"More than maybe. Have a little faith in yourself, okay?"

Honestly, if Naminé hadn't succeeded, she was sure she wouldn't have remembered Sora at all. She hated thinking back and knowing she hadn't thought about him during a large part of the time he was gone. How could Kairi forget Sora of all people.

"Hm? A little while ago... I kind of ended up there by accident, I think."

"Sora really is... incredibly important." Kairi folded her hands, looking at them. Important to more than just her, she had to always remember that. "Thank you, for taking care of him. I didn't know where he had even gone." She had simply waited.

Kairi tried to smile then, "I went to Twilight Town before I met you, actually. I don't know where you were..." She paused, looking up and then back to the blond. "I just went through this portal. It was a spur of the moment decision to get away from someone." Mentioning Axel by name seemed wrong now.

While Sora had told her quite a few stories about his adventures, most everything about Naminé had indeed been left out. Not because he had done it on purpose of course. So the fact that it was Naminé who had unchained Sora's memories to begin with was a bit of a shock to the redhead. Her eyebrows knit, not in anger, but in confusion.

"You broke Sora's memories? But.... why?" She sincerely just wanted to know. She chewed her bottom lip a little bit, glancing to the side.

"I don't know, but I don't think anything around us happens by coincidence."

The look on the Nobody's face looked completely sincere, and Kairi knew in her heart of hearts that Naminé meant what she said. She may not have known the whole story, but she did know that from her own short time held by Organization members, that they could be pretty frightening. "I know you won't. I believe you Naminé."

She gave the other girl a genuine smile. "Whatever happens from now on, you and I can work things out together. I would really like to be your friend... if that's okay with you."

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-04-07 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good, I'm glad." That answer definitely made Kairi smile, any time she gained a new friend it made her happier inside. Namine was important to her, and they had never really gotten a chance to really talk.

At the question, Kairi shook her head. "No, I can't say that I have."

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-04-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Different sounds fine to me," Kairi answered, taking Naminé's hand and getting to her feet. She'd let the other girl lead the way, since she was still unfamiliar with all the vendors and shops in this city. It would take time to get to know such a large place. Placing down the money for the hot cocoa she had ordered and drank a fair bit off, she was looked up.

"Ready to go when you are. I'm looking forward to talking with you more." And to ice cream. Being a beach girl, she loved cold treats like this.

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-06-04 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
"This will be new for me too." Kairi grinned and tapped her ice cream very lightly against Naminé's, like clinking a glass together in a toast. "To friends." And then she licked the ice cream bar, closing her lips over the top of it to get the full flavor of it. It was weird, but also very very tasty.

Sweet. Salty. Cold.... it was really good. It wasn't like a normal ice cream flavor, like strawberry or chocolate, it was really a category all its own. "This is good!" she exclaimed, grabbing a napkin to hold under the ice cream in case it started to melt.

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-06-08 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Wrapping the napkin around the ice cream stick, Kairi continued to eat as Naminé. "If I have to share it with my friends, next time we'll have to invite everyone along to eat some. Sora, Riku, me, you, and Roxas too. I haven't gotten to speak to him since I arrived here."

The one time she had spoken to the Nobody had been a strange experience, and the one time she had met him they hadn't really exchanged any words at all. She'd like a chance to talk to him ore if he was here in Paixao.

"I'll plan it all out for us, it'll be great." Kairi gives a warm smile and leans back against the wall of a building. At the mention of Xion, the girl nods. "I've never met her, but go ahead and invite her! The more the merrier in my book."

If only she knew just who and what Xion was.

LATE AS WELL

Seeing that smile on Naminé's face made Kairi feel incredibly happy. Whatever the reason, knowing that her Nobody felt good made her feel good. And yet, she didn't even like to think of Naminé as her Nobody, she just wanted to think of her as a really close friend. "You're very welcome," she replied, grinning wide.

Kairi bit into the very last bit of her ice cream, making sure that the melting bits didn't reach her fingers and make them sticky. "There's no reason for me to mind spending time with you. You're nice, and I like you. That's all that counts."

If it were up to the red head, she would find every friend for Naminé that she could.

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-08-02 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Following Namine's example, Kairi tossed her ice cream stick in the trash can and dusted her hands together in finality. "I'm glad. I want you and me to be friends because we like each other as people. That's what most important to me." She reached out now, patting the blonde lightly on the arm in reassurance.

"You just let me know whenever you want to hang out together; I'd be more than happy to spend time with you. We can talk anytime, that's exactly what friends do. And you can come to me if there's ever anything bothering you or anything like that, I'll be there if you need me."

[identity profile] heartstoblend.livejournal.com 2011-08-09 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
"That sounds good to me!" Kairi grinned, flicking back some of her hair as she bounced lightly once on the balls of her feet. When Naminé help out her arms for a hug, Kairi was a bit surprised, but more thank happy to oblige.

She scooped the other girl into her arms and gave her a friendly, squishing hug. There was no awkwardness on her part, Naminé deserved a good hug and Kairi was going to be the one to give it to her.
