Unexpected [Closed, Active]

Character(s): Lithuania and NiGHTS
Content: Lithuania goes exploring, and meets someone he wasn't expecting. At all.
Setting: Somewhere around Actua Are.
Time: Midday, week 28
Warnings: ... Sparkles? Bafflement? Baffling sparkles?

NiGHTS had, surprisingly enough, gotten into little to no trouble ever since his return to the city. Maybe it was the fact that everything was so boring here, now that he'd explored everything on his own and (for the moment) was bored of tormenting Hook, though he'd get back to that again once he felt like it. Maybe it was the waiting game, looking to catch people he knew in bits of conversation and, strangely for him, making sure they were alright. At any rate, the Nightmaren was hovering around the Actua Are hotel, playing the invisible flute he always had nearby and idly composing vague hints of melodies before carelessly scattering the notes to the wind, lost.

He wished something would happen, besides the silly fog that seemed to have overtaken the city (and from the looks of it, driving some unfortunate people mad), and thought that maybe the break he'd been giving Hook had lasted a little too long when he saw someone who... felt weird. He couldn't really describe it, even if asked, but it made him curious - and suddenly, NiGHTs wasn't so terribly bored any more. He lowered himself, floating a little above and behind the person, and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hello!" he called out cheerfully. "And who might you be?"

Lithuania turned and was pretty sure he'd finally lost it. At least Urd, floating as she had been, had looked human. There was no way this--what was he? Definitely not human. Really, this place should have pulled in England.

He took a step back automatically, and once he had gained a bit more personal space the startled confusion that had flashed across his face settled down somewhat.

"I--ah, Toris Laurinaitis," he answered, half-automatically. "A-and you?"

"Nice to meet you as well," Lithuania replied, still stuck in the surreality of the meeting. "You're not native to Paixao, are you?"

He wasn't sure which would be better or worse for his sanity. Paixao was a lot to adjust to, and a lot to adjust to quickly.

Was this someone else who could tell he wasn't human? Maybe he was just going to constantly run into those types. But he should at least try to maintain the impression of being normal (but did that even mean anything here?). "I'm from Lithuania--on Earth?" What were the chances NiGHTS had ever heard of it?

As far as Lithuania knew, however, he looked like a perfectly normal human unless you could watch him over a length of time and see how he aged, or rather, didn't. "Ah, what do you mean?"

Really, was anyone not attuned to this sort of thing? All Lithuania had a sense for was recognizing another nation, and NiGHTS wasn't that. "You'll have to forgive me, but I've never seen anyone like you, so I'd hardly know what you can and can't tell about me."

Somehow hearing this creature was from a dream made more sense than a lot of things he'd heard since he arrived. Fine, might as well see how he reacted. He'd already been laughed at for it, and he doubted anyone here could reach his people to properly hurt him. "Lithuania."

"I've never met anyone from a dream while I was awake," Lithuania replied, though at least there had been no laughter. Shock was expected, of course. "I haven't been here long..." And he would really like to get back to Lithuania, except that was seeming increasingly difficult. He wasn't sure what would happen while he was gone. Surely there was no reason for his nation to simply destabilize, but this wasn't something he had experience with. If China were here, maybe he would remember something back from before Lithuania had existed.

"Disappearances?" That was new information, and he perked visibly, although with general interest more than any emotion one way or the other. If that means disappearing to home, that could certainly be helpful. But if it meant disappearing at the hands of someone, quite the opposite.

"You didn't remember this place when you got back?" That was interesting; it meant there was no proof he had been the only one ever pulled here from his world, for one. No proof he hadn't been here before, actually, except that no one had said they remembered him. That was probably for the best, though. But at least if he arrived back when he left the time he spent here wouldn't matter as much to his people.

If Lithuania hadn't remembered being here before, then, then maybe he hadn't been. Didn't mean no one else had been here, though. "I suppose it doesn't matter, as long as I didn't make enemies or anything."

"I've never been in a place like this," Lithuania said, still a bit fascinated with how NiGHTS could fly so easily. "I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially if it might affect my people back home."

augh, sorry; been so busy ;;

"Really?" It reminded him of a fantasy novel--he'd thought of that before. He almost expected some ethereal princess in a tower to be creating all this, held captive by the shadowy organization. But that was silly.

But he'd seen so much strange in so little time here.

"No telling if that will happen tomorrow or a thousand years from now."

He could wait forever, if nothing happened to his people in the meantime. He would wait forever, if he had to.
