A Cowboy Without His Hat [Active]
Character(s): Woody and Toph
Content: The cowboy doll’s hat flies out the window and is found by a certain earth bender.
Setting: Palazzo Townhomes
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: Probably Nothing
Woody was relaxing Sora’s room, it was fairly nice outside and all. He let the window open a bit while looking out at the sky. Though he was kinda bored, he thinks he played enough Tic Tac Toe by himself for one day. Woody sighed, man he missed his friends, he wondered if those guys are doing ok without him, and if Bonnie was all right too. Woody stared out the window and let his thoughts drift a bit. At least he got some friends here, though most of them are all human. He’d never thought that would ever happen, since he was mostly always around toys instead. Woody was rather disappointed in himself for letting it happen, but on the other hand, it wasn’t so bad. After all, they’re all really nice to him and he cares about them just as well.
Leaning against the windowsill, Woody let his one leg hang down to the side, letting his boot sway a bit. While Woody was beginning to fall asleep, letting his cowboy hat slid down a bit to cover his eyes. However, his little snooze didn’t last too long, as soon as the wind picked up, so did his hat. Right out the window!
That certainly woke the cowboy doll up with a start, his eyes widen and reached out to try and grab it from falling, “Oh no-NONONOO-!” Woody’s shout didn’t help though, the hat float quite simply off and away from the townhouse out on to the sidewalk, he grimaced. There’s no way he was gonna let his hat go like that. Woody quickly got off the sill and jumped off the bed. Sneaked out the bedroom door, made sure no one else was around, and then went over to the front door.
Woody took a deep breath and looked around to try to find a way to reach the doorknob. There was a chair that was next to it, the cowboy doll immediately went over to climb it, when he reached the top, he stretched out his arm to try to turn the doorknob. It couldn’t make it all the way, so he made a jump to turn it open. When it did, it opened a little bit. Just enough for Woody move it. He jumped down and opened the door so he can go outside. Sneaking out slowly, Woody closed the door behind him, by using the bottom of the door. Woody then began to walk toward the sidewalk where his hat was, but when he saw that someone was coming he quickly ducked into the near by bushes.

Sorry it took me so long!! D:
Just for the hell of it, Toph placed it on top of her head in front of her bun. She immediately took it off and smiled from the amusement she brought herself.
Toph's face was once again plastered with puzzlement as she felt something move in one of the buildings she was standing next to. Now, feeling people and things move wasn't a big deal most of the time, but for once, something stood out. A tiny something. It was like a tiny person was moving inside the apartment. A tiny person who would find the tiny hat to be a perfect fit. Curious, Toph kept the hat and went inside the building, heading for the tiny thing moving around.
S'ok I was busy too |D;
The girl started to move toward him. Woody gasped, and tried to desperately look for a hiding spot. He managed to spot a potted plant inside the building. Scrambling over to the pot quickly, he hid behind it. Woody glanced from the side, he clutched to, trying to stay hidden.
<3
"Hey, little you. I think this is yours." Toph held out the mini hat in the little man's direction, even though she could easily reach behind the plant and pick him (she guessed it was a him) herself. "You're not afraid of me, are you?" She honestly couldn't tell. This thing felt like a person-shaped piece of fluff with little hard bits here and there. There was no heart beat, at least, not one she could feel.
no subject
“It’s… It’s not that I’m afraid of you or anything,” Woody spoke, still hiding behind the pot, not wanting to come out. “Well, it’s just that-Well if I do I-Too many people will know and… Let’s just say my appearance might surprise you.”
no subject
"It's ok, Tiny. I'm blind. So, do you want your hat or not?" Who knew that a person made from fluff would be so concerned over something like that? "I just didn't know that there were people your size. And made out of fluff." Toph laughed again. If Sokka had been with her, he could have explained that such a thing was impossible. Toph, however, never really paid attention to such science-y things.
no subject
“Ah well… Thank ya kindly m’am,” Woody said somewhat embarrassingly, as he adjusted the hat properly back on his head. He gave a small chuckle, “So how’d ya guess I was made of fluff if you’re blind… If you don’t mind me askin’?”
no subject
She sighed at the question. She just had to be the only bender around here, didn't she? "My eyes can't see, but my feet can. I'm an earthbender. I can feel things around me through vibrations in the ground." She crouched down and poked the small man with her finger. "How is it that you can move all around while being so little and made of fluff?"
no subject
Once poked Woody almost lost his balance, he straightened his hat with a grumble. He really didn’t want to say why he was, considering this girl looked pretty young as well, but he gave a sigh as he looked off to the side, “Normally I don’t come out in the open like this. But… well, you wouldn’t be the first to meet a talking toy now wouldja?”
no subject
Not being a person of science, Toph didn't find this too hard to believe. In fact, it explained quite a lot about the little person and why there wasn't a heart beat or other physiological signs of life coming from this thing. How he could move and such wasn't important to her.
no subject
Really, this was a mistake. Woody didn’t mean to show himself in public like this. He only wanted to get his hat back, but of course that resulted in another kid knowing he can walk and talk. Woody sighed a bit to himself, “It’s kinda against the toy code to show any sign of being alive to humans, really.”
no subject
The earthbender gently poked Woody's soft body and twisted him around to pull the string at his back. Sure, she had had dolls back home. (Not that she really played with them.) But this one was different. The string was weird. "Hey, does this make your head pop off or something?" Toph pulled the string.
no subject
And around the cowboy went. He felt his pull string pulled, honestly though, he expected that. Woody then heard his voice box speak for Toph, “Somebody’s poisoned the waterhole!”
Woody looked behind, quirking his eyebrow at the popping head thing. If this kid is anything like Sid, he swears… he gives an exasperated sigh, “No. It just does that.”
no subject
"So what do you toy guys do anyway? I mean, other than let kids play around with you." Toph may be a fighter, but she wasn't sadistic like Sid. She had toys back at home, but she never really needed them to amuse herself. She had her earthbending for that.
no subject
The cowboy doll placed his plastic hands on his belt as he contemplated about what toys normally do, “Well, I usually try and keep things in order while the kid is gone. Make out plans, like making sure everyone knows what days are special for the kid, what play dates are prominent. Things like that, we usually just look out for each other and try to have fun when we can,” Tilted his hat a bit downward with a bit of a smirk, “Nothin’ special just your usual day for a toy.”
no subject
Toph's grin then turned into a look of deep thought. If this guy wanted someone to play with, she really wasn't the best kid around. She was an earthbender, and Woody didn't feel tough enough to handle earthbending without being crushed, ripped, or utterly destroyed. Maybe if she had some other toys to play with him, she could re-enact her victory in the Earthbending Tournament where she first met Aang. Of course, the rocks would be to scale and wouldn't likely hurt the toys. Well, at least not too much.
And then a thought occurred to her. "Hey, why don't I take you outside and show you some earthbending?"
no subject
Curious, the cowboy lifted his eyebrow in interest. “What’s earthbending?” he asked Toph, trying to think of what that could possibly be. He’s never heard of that before anyway.
no subject
And then he mentioned her earthbending. A mischievous grin spread over Toph's face as she quickly reached down to pick up the toy. "Well, why don't I show you?" Holding him tightly in her hand, Toph raced down stairs and burst through the door leading outside, immediately walking towards the closest spot where Woody could watch without being crushed by rocks or having to worry about his secret getting out.
no subject
“Man, ya sure know how ta take off like a jack rabbit in the hot desert,” Woody spoke making sure his hat was still on his head.
no subject
She cracked her knuckles and fluidly moved, the earth in front of her seemingly copying her movements. The cobblestones parted and the earth underneath suddenly rose from the ground. As an added touch, she formed it to make it look like a statue of herself in a victorious pose. She also made another earth-statue rise from the ground, depicting Woody in the same pose.
no subject
“What in tarnation…” Woody spoke, almost breathless at the sight. This world… It was just full of amazing people, including her. Who knows what other people’s special abilities might come up! Woody watched as she made parts of the earth shape and turn into something… Quite complimentary actually, she just made statues out of both him and her, from the earth itself!
“Who-ho-ho man! That is AMAZING!” Woody said as he spread out his arms out, and smacked his plastic head. Just wow! It looked really great! “Ha-hey, there’s one handsome cowboy. Not too shabby, and of course you look pretty amazing yourself there!”
Woody tilted his head as he admired their earth statues, “How did you learn to do all this?” he asked out of curiosity, still with that big grin on his face in astonishment.
no subject
And then he had to ask her how she learned. The grin on her face faltered a little, but she quickly held it back up. "I learned from badgermoles. They say that they were the world's first earthbenders, and that they taught it to people. I ran away from home once and just copied their movements." Details weren't too important here. "I'm the only one who can bend metal too."
no subject
“Badgermoles?” Woody asked, he lifted an eyebrow, honestly he’s never heard of that. Learning something awesome from a badgermole seems rather out of the ordinary. Yet again, what he just witnessed before him was already beyond out of anything considered ordinary.
On the mention that Toph had ran away from home once, almost instantly Woody dropped his posture and folded his arms. He couldn’t help but be concerned about that, call it instinct, but this cowboy doll wanted to make sure everything is doing all right for this kid. Yet again, she probably is already away from home by being here. Woody looked down a bit and contemplated what to say as he bit his bottom plastic lip. He didn’t want to seem like a parent or anything like that. In all honestly he’d rather look more like a friend.
Woody lifted his head back up with a bit of a small smile, “Sounds like you learned a lot from them badgermoles. So they’re close friends of yours then?”
no subject
She moved again, causing the statues to sink back into the ground enough and bending them to make herself a bench. She grabbed Woody from the top of the trash can and placed him on it, sitting next to him. "It's actually been a while since I ran into any badgermoles." She chuckled. "I was actually gone for a while here because I thought I heard someone mention a city of them underneath this place. There isn't one though."
no subject
Woody remembered to hold onto his hat, as soon as she reached out to grab him. It wasn’t hard for him to get used to this, after all he is a toy. Woody watched as she earthbended a bench and gladly took the seat next to Toph. He leaned back against his plastic hands behind him, as he looked up at her. “Betcha miss ‘em huh?” Woody asked, giving a nod, “I know I miss my friends.”
no subject
Toph looked down at the doll. "What kinda friends do you have?"
no subject
“Oh yea, there’s Jessie, Buzz, Bullseye, Potato Head, Slink, Rex, all my friend’s back at Bonnie’s! They’re all really great friends of mine, Jessie is a one rough and tough cowgirl doll and Buzz is this cool action figure that’s suppose ta be a space ranger-Ya know there was this one time he actually thought he was a space man. But I’m glad that whole mess got cleared up,” Woody chuckled, he couldn’t help but think that time was pretty funny. If Buzz were here he’d sure try and shut him up, but he’s not.

Woody tipped his hat downward, trying to look like an awesome cowboy hero, “I… Just happened to be, a cowboy myself,” he spoke, posing to try and look like someone like Clint Eastwood. Though it was a bit hard to look hard and tough, when you’re a cute doll.
no subject
"If you're a cowboy, then where's your cow?" Toph gave him a grin, obviously just teasing him. "You want me to make one for you?"
no subject
“How about we just stick to the play time basics Toph,” Woody then peered an eye up at her, “Like playing baseball or somethin’ like that.”
no subject
Toph kicked the ground and made a Woody-sized figure of an ostrich-horse which she placed next to him on the bench.
no subject
“Wha-Ha-What is this? Is this one of those Ostrich Horses? Oh man, look at that!” Woody went on with a grin, looking down at the two legs. He just continued his laugh, and patted the thing.
“I don’t think I EVER saw something like that before,” Woody chuckled, then he waved his arms, “Oho ho! Wait, I gotta try this thing!” He climbed up on top of the figure, and then tilted his hat up toward Toph. Oh yea, here’s your fantasy cowboy right here girl.
“’Scuse me there, lil lady, any trouble ‘round these parts?” Woody said in that ol’ typical cowboy sway, as he adjusted himself on the Ostrich-Horse.
no subject
At least he was impressed with her little ostrich horse. "Yeah, that's an ostrich horse," Toph couldn't help but laugh at the doll. It looked like he was having more fun than she was. He was a toy after all.
She continued to laugh, especially when Woody climbed on top of the ostrich horse (complete with a saddle and some reigns details of course) and waved his hat. "Yeah, there's some fire benders invading!" Toph kicked the ground again and three little fire bender figures popped up, again Woody sized. She placed them around the cowboy. "Looks like you're surrounded!"
no subject
Almost immediately Woody made a dodge roll as he reached out and grabbed out a long piece of yarn string that was lying on the ground. That string he grabbed was now his rope. Immediately he started lassoing the bad guys right and left. Kicking them down as he passed, when he finally reached the last one, he reeled him in.
“Y’all got a date with justice,” Woody said, a bit of dust decorating his cheek, as he made himself look to be one cool cowboy in the midst of defeating all the bad guys. He definitely loved getting into character, “Perhaps y’all best think ‘fore ya go ‘round messing up any ol’ town.”
no subject
She then made a few more figures, this time of smiley-faced people. "Look, they're happy you saved the day!"
no subject
“Oho, no need to thank me guys!” Woody said with confidence, “Just all in a day’s work for your Sheriff, no one get’s past me!” He tilted his hat with a laugh. Woody looked up at Toph, he looked really happy, “Aha boy! This is great! It’s been a while since I’ve done this, ol’ cowboy still got it though ha ha!”

Woody smiled, and winked as shot his finger up at Toph “I betcha you can come up with all kindsa stories to play out.”
no subject
"Maybe I should take you back where you belong, huh?"
no subject
no subject
"You do live here, right?" Toph walked in the door without waiting for an answer. "What floor?"
no subject
“Ah, it ain’t far from here, actually,” Woody said directing toward his place, “It’s on this floor, just passed these two doors down here.”
no subject
"Here you go." Toph set Woody down on the floor. "Isn't this room a bit big for you, though?" She grinned, obviously teasing the toy again. "Or maybe you cowboys like getting lost in a giant bed."
no subject
Pointing up at Toph, Woody said, “Hey maybe you can come over sometime, and I can introduce ya to him. You can go an’ show off that earth bending moves ya got!”
no subject
"You bet. Everyone should have the chance to see the world's greatest earthbender in action." Toph grinned down at the doll. "I wouldn't mind visiting anyway. If this Sora guy runs off so much, we could always play again."
no subject
Woody smirked back up at her, lifting an eyebrow. That’s a lotta ego she’s got bulked up in her saddle. He chuckled, “Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if ya were Toph,” giving a nod, “Not a problem, and I’ll make sure to give in a good word for ya too. Who knows, you guys might bump into each other. Wouldn’t be surprisin’ too, he knows a lotta people ‘round here.”
Like a gentleman, Woody tipped his hat, and spoke, “It was nice meetin’ ya Toph, make sure you gimme a call if ya wanna hang out or anything, and I’ll be there!”
