A Cowboy Without His Hat [Active]

Character(s): Woody and Toph
Content: The cowboy doll’s hat flies out the window and is found by a certain earth bender.
Setting: Palazzo Townhomes
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: Probably Nothing

Woody was relaxing Sora’s room, it was fairly nice outside and all. He let the window open a bit while looking out at the sky. Though he was kinda bored, he thinks he played enough Tic Tac Toe by himself for one day. Woody sighed, man he missed his friends, he wondered if those guys are doing ok without him, and if Bonnie was all right too. Woody stared out the window and let his thoughts drift a bit. At least he got some friends here, though most of them are all human. He’d never thought that would ever happen, since he was mostly always around toys instead. Woody was rather disappointed in himself for letting it happen, but on the other hand, it wasn’t so bad. After all, they’re all really nice to him and he cares about them just as well.

Leaning against the windowsill, Woody let his one leg hang down to the side, letting his boot sway a bit. While Woody was beginning to fall asleep, letting his cowboy hat slid down a bit to cover his eyes. However, his little snooze didn’t last too long, as soon as the wind picked up, so did his hat. Right out the window!

That certainly woke the cowboy doll up with a start, his eyes widen and reached out to try and grab it from falling, “Oh no-NONONOO-!” Woody’s shout didn’t help though, the hat float quite simply off and away from the townhouse out on to the sidewalk, he grimaced. There’s no way he was gonna let his hat go like that. Woody quickly got off the sill and jumped off the bed. Sneaked out the bedroom door, made sure no one else was around, and then went over to the front door.

Woody took a deep breath and looked around to try to find a way to reach the doorknob. There was a chair that was next to it, the cowboy doll immediately went over to climb it, when he reached the top, he stretched out his arm to try to turn the doorknob. It couldn’t make it all the way, so he made a jump to turn it open. When it did, it opened a little bit. Just enough for Woody move it. He jumped down and opened the door so he can go outside. Sneaking out slowly, Woody closed the door behind him, by using the bottom of the door. Woody then began to walk toward the sidewalk where his hat was, but when he saw that someone was coming he quickly ducked into the near by bushes.

Sorry it took me so long!! D:

Toph was walking by when she felt something small and light hit the ground behind her. Intrigued, she turned around and picked it up, her face plastered with confusion. It was a hat. A very tiny hat. Who wore a hat this tiny?

Just for the hell of it, Toph placed it on top of her head in front of her bun. She immediately took it off and smiled from the amusement she brought herself.

Toph's face was once again plastered with puzzlement as she felt something move in one of the buildings she was standing next to. Now, feeling people and things move wasn't a big deal most of the time, but for once, something stood out. A tiny something. It was like a tiny person was moving inside the apartment. A tiny person who would find the tiny hat to be a perfect fit. Curious, Toph kept the hat and went inside the building, heading for the tiny thing moving around.

Toph kept moving towards the little person. She could feel him move around, looking for a hiding spot. It didn't take her long to corner the little guy. He kind of cornered himself by hiding behind the pot.

"Hey, little you. I think this is yours." Toph held out the mini hat in the little man's direction, even though she could easily reach behind the plant and pick him (she guessed it was a him) herself. "You're not afraid of me, are you?" She honestly couldn't tell. This thing felt like a person-shaped piece of fluff with little hard bits here and there. There was no heart beat, at least, not one she could feel.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2010-12-31 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph laughed. Someone afraid of scaring people by their appearance? This little guy couldn't be that ugly to people, could he?

"It's ok, Tiny. I'm blind. So, do you want your hat or not?" Who knew that a person made from fluff would be so concerned over something like that? "I just didn't know that there were people your size. And made out of fluff." Toph laughed again. If Sokka had been with her, he could have explained that such a thing was impossible. Toph, however, never really paid attention to such science-y things.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-01-03 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Ma'am? Toph was sure she's never hear that word directed towards her ever again. She would have taken it as an insult if it such a word had come from someone she knew.

She sighed at the question. She just had to be the only bender around here, didn't she? "My eyes can't see, but my feet can. I'm an earthbender. I can feel things around me through vibrations in the ground." She crouched down and poked the small man with her finger. "How is it that you can move all around while being so little and made of fluff?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-01-17 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
"You're a toy?" This time, Toph reached out to pick him up. "You know, toys back where I come from aren't alive."

Not being a person of science, Toph didn't find this too hard to believe. In fact, it explained quite a lot about the little person and why there wasn't a heart beat or other physiological signs of life coming from this thing. How he could move and such wasn't important to her.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-06 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph couldn't help but smile a bit. "So even you guys have rules, huh? Well, sometimes you just have to break them." She would know. Toph was an expert on breaking rules.

The earthbender gently poked Woody's soft body and twisted him around to pull the string at his back. Sure, she had had dolls back home. (Not that she really played with them.) But this one was different. The string was weird. "Hey, does this make your head pop off or something?" Toph pulled the string.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-09 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph laughed. The voice that came from the toy when she pulled the string sounded fake somehow, and really cheesy. Still snorting a bit, she placed Woody back on the ground. "You know, if I had dolls like you, I might actually play with them." More like just pulling the string to hear the stupid catch-phrases, but hey, it would amuse her for a little bit.

"So what do you toy guys do anyway? I mean, other than let kids play around with you." Toph may be a fighter, but she wasn't sadistic like Sid. She had toys back at home, but she never really needed them to amuse herself. She had her earthbending for that.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-15 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"You sound more like a nanny than a toy." Toph gave him a smirk. "Though, you sound like a bit more fun than a nanny."

Toph's grin then turned into a look of deep thought. If this guy wanted someone to play with, she really wasn't the best kid around. She was an earthbender, and Woody didn't feel tough enough to handle earthbending without being crushed, ripped, or utterly destroyed. Maybe if she had some other toys to play with him, she could re-enact her victory in the Earthbending Tournament where she first met Aang. Of course, the rocks would be to scale and wouldn't likely hurt the toys. Well, at least not too much.

And then a thought occurred to her. "Hey, why don't I take you outside and show you some earthbending?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Toph snorted at Woody's response about being compared to a nanny. The way he was talking, he surly sounded like one.

And then he mentioned her earthbending. A mischievous grin spread over Toph's face as she quickly reached down to pick up the toy. "Well, why don't I show you?" Holding him tightly in her hand, Toph raced down stairs and burst through the door leading outside, immediately walking towards the closest spot where Woody could watch without being crushed by rocks or having to worry about his secret getting out.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph gave Woody a grin at his statement about the jack rabbit...whatever that was. It wasn't long before she found a less populated area of town where she found a nice little alley laid with cobblestones. She placed Woody down on top of a trash can. "Ok. You stay there, and just watch. This is earthbending."

She cracked her knuckles and fluidly moved, the earth in front of her seemingly copying her movements. The cobblestones parted and the earth underneath suddenly rose from the ground. As an added touch, she formed it to make it look like a statue of herself in a victorious pose. She also made another earth-statue rise from the ground, depicting Woody in the same pose.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-20 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph's grin couldn't get any bigger. "Yeah, I am pretty amazing." She wasn't one to be humble, especially when it came to earthbending. "Glad you like it."

And then he had to ask her how she learned. The grin on her face faltered a little, but she quickly held it back up. "I learned from badgermoles. They say that they were the world's first earthbenders, and that they taught it to people. I ran away from home once and just copied their movements." Details weren't too important here. "I'm the only one who can bend metal too."

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Haha. I wouldn't say they're close friends, but they let me tag along with them. They're really big creatures that live in the mountains and make tunnels." Toph lifted her hands up to emphasize her point.

She moved again, causing the statues to sink back into the ground enough and bending them to make herself a bench. She grabbed Woody from the top of the trash can and placed him on it, sitting next to him. "It's actually been a while since I ran into any badgermoles." She chuckled. "I was actually gone for a while here because I thought I heard someone mention a city of them underneath this place. There isn't one though."

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"The badgermoles? Not too much. I do miss some of my friends though. Sokka and Suki are here, but I don't know where Aang or Katara went." She also missed her parents, despite their lack of understanding. She wasn't in a position to admit that though. "Twinkletoes had just better be practicing his earthbending. Next time I see him, he better be ready, 'cause I'm not goin' easy on him."

Toph looked down at the doll. "What kinda friends do you have?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph laughed. The names Woody was listing off were ridiculous! then again, they were toys. "A cowgirl? Like a human-cow? And what's a space man?" Toph had no idea what kind of world Woody came from, but it sure sounded interesting. Much better than this dump.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-24 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"We don't have anything called cowboys or cowgirls where I'm from. We don't have horses either. There are ostrich-horses though." The Earth Kingdom certainly liked to use those things. Toph had no opinion of them, other than that is must be nicer riding on those other than Appa. At least they stayed on the ground.

"If you're a cowboy, then where's your cow?" Toph gave him a grin, obviously just teasing him. "You want me to make one for you?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-25 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Baseball? Is that another one of your toy-friends?" Baseball didn't exist in the Earth Kingdom, or anywhere else in her world for that matter. There were games involving earthbending, and Toph was sure there were some for water and airbending too. (Playing with firebending just seemed like a stupid thing to do.) Still, she preferred fighting to little kid games.

Toph kicked the ground and made a Woody-sized figure of an ostrich-horse which she placed next to him on the bench.

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Toph had to admit, this baseball sport's game thing didn't sound very interesting. No bending? Just...hitting a ball with a stick and running? Boring.

At least he was impressed with her little ostrich horse. "Yeah, that's an ostrich horse," Toph couldn't help but laugh at the doll. It looked like he was having more fun than she was. He was a toy after all.

She continued to laugh, especially when Woody climbed on top of the ostrich horse (complete with a saddle and some reigns details of course) and waved his hat. "Yeah, there's some fire benders invading!" Toph kicked the ground again and three little fire bender figures popped up, again Woody sized. She placed them around the cowboy. "Looks like you're surrounded!"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph was cracking up. Who knew toys could actually be fun? "I think you'll need a place to put them, huh?" Toph hopped of the little bench she had made and created a little prison for the stone firebenders. She placed them all in a cell.

She then made a few more figures, this time of smiley-faced people. "Look, they're happy you saved the day!"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-01 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"I never really played with toys much. This is fun!" Toph picked up a firebender figure and bended its head off. She wouldn't do that to Woody, but to things she could make just by kicking the ground, oh yeah. "You get to do this all the time, huh?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
"I dunno about that, but if I come up with somethin' good, I'll come find you!" Toph held out her hand for the little toy to take. Earthbending had always been a kind of escape for Toph, especially when she went out and competed in the tournaments back home. It was nice to have found another way to take a break from things, and to make a new friend in the process.

"Maybe I should take you back where you belong, huh?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Toph picked up Woody once again and headed back to the building where she had found him. "Sounds good. Just keep better care of your hat...cowboy." What a funny word. Toph kind of liked it though. Sure, it wasn't as cool as 'earthbender,' or 'The Blind Bandit,' but it fit Woody just fine.

"You do live here, right?" Toph walked in the door without waiting for an answer. "What floor?"

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-05 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Toph walked down the hall and opened the door. It wasn't locked, but it wasn't as if Toph was a thief. The strange people of Paixao probably weren't smart enough to steal anything anyway, so maybe there wasn't even a point to locking any doors.

"Here you go." Toph set Woody down on the floor. "Isn't this room a bit big for you, though?" She grinned, obviously teasing the toy again. "Or maybe you cowboys like getting lost in a giant bed."

[identity profile] blindearthgirl.livejournal.com 2011-04-09 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Show off? Oh, yes. Toph would love to show off to anyone.

"You bet. Everyone should have the chance to see the world's greatest earthbender in action." Toph grinned down at the doll. "I wouldn't mind visiting anyway. If this Sora guy runs off so much, we could always play again."
