Shadows of the Prey [Active]
Character(s): Wolf, Zidane, Scar, Remus, and Anyone else who comes by after Remus shows up
Content: The Fog has infected Wolf’s mind to thinking Zidane is plotting against him. They have a fight, but it gets worse later when the heartless get involved by a certain lion.
Setting: Outside the Matteus Museum of Art
Time: Evening
Warnings: Violence and Angst
Wolf waited by the Art Museum, he kept his hands in his pockets. It was dark and the artificial stars and moon shined in the night. Wolf starred around him as the silence echoed the air from the bitter depths of the fog that suffocated the air. It made him irritated and suspicious, was it possible that Zidane might attack him now, behind his back.
Though even if Zidane were to try something, Wolf would hear it, he knew he would, there was no doubt in his mind about that. He bit the corner of his bottom lip as he lingered. What was it that Zidane was up to, was he working for the Queen? What did he do on his so-called date with Osaka? Anger built within Wolf, as he felt himself growl under his sharp teeth.
It wasn’t like Wolf to be so suspicious, but it just seemed appropriate to be right now. His gut feeling never lied and he had to go with it. Wolf glared from side to side, turning his attention to every movement, every noise he could possibly hear. His snarls slightly escaping his lips as he stood there, watching, waiting.

"Hey, Wolf! I'm here," he calls out to announce his arrival, peering around. His daggers were sheathed - as they rightfully should be. Wolf was his friend, right?

A growl hindered Wolf’s voice as he turned to face the boy. “Now that you’re hear I want to discuss some things,” Wolf spoke, his voice was almost threateningly soft and calm, though a storm was about to hit the very core if his nerve were to go off. “First, I’m sure you had fun dating Osaka, how did it go?”

There was no mistake that Zidane was up to something, Wolf could just tell. He glanced to the side, and then looked back at him, “Didn’t have any conversations that were important at all?”

“You’re after her aren’t you? You only want to get inside her mind so you can have me work for the Queen again, well it’s NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!!” Wolf yelled, as he sprung at Zidane, claws now fully opened, intending of slashing him to ribbons.

And then Wolf was at him and Zidane's back hit the ground, grappling with Wolf, trying to keep those claws from touching him. "Snap out of this, Wolf! This can't be your true nature! It just can't!"
Please.

A smile broke across Scar's maw as he observed, fascinated with the dealings of these humans. Wolf seemed to have gone perfectly insane. Not that Scar minded, of course, but...that gave him an idea. It had worked, to some extent, with that boy in Spira, but the boy had become suspicious too quickly. Scar had been the only one around, after all...but that was a matter to be dealt with some other time. Here, there was another victim, just begging for his attention.
In the midst of the fight, pools of darkness formed on the cobblestone pavement. Shadows dredged themselves from the depths, and they began to close in on the smaller man with the monkey tail. To all appearances, they moved in perfect synchronized time with Wolf.

Wolf yelped, as they seemed to pounce toward Zidane and him. He let go of Zidane and stumbled backwards in surprise. Where did they come from? Why are they here all of a sudden? Wolf didn’t know what to do, he started to panic, not sure whether he should be attacking Zidane or the heartless. Though the creature didn’t seem to be focused on him exactly, they were going toward his enemy! What was going on?!
no subject
"It's okay - I've got this!"
He breathes and hopes his trust in Wolf is well placed. He's not sure he can manage to shuffle back and forth between the Heartless and Wolf without getting one of them hurt.

More heartless appeared coming toward them. Wolf panicked again, his gut reaction was to slash at them, but more just seem to come out from the ground. Whipping around to see the never ending swarm aiming for Wolf’s opponent. He gritted his teeth, and quickly reached in his pocket for his journal. His fingers shaking for the controls to go to voice on his journal, “REMUS! I need your help, we’re outside the museum of art-It’s the heartless, they’re here-They’re everywhere-I can’t-GRRAAAH!”
One of the heartless slammed into Wolf and literally pushed him outside away from Zidane. He looked up to see that his journal slid away from him too. Wolf was on all fours near the wall, lights shinning from his own yellow eyes in the dark he watched the number of heartless attacking Zidane. Why were they doing this?! WHY?! This can’t be happening, it can’t be! He screamed after him in complete confusion and terror, “ZIDAAAANNNEE!!!”
no subject
No, no.
He got this during the first two waves of Heartless, now he was kind of getting unsteady on his feet, the yellow of the eyes blurring together and making him lose focus. Come on, Zidane, buck up. You've been through worse. But he always had someone fighting besides him, watching his back even. Zidane wasn't even sure where Wolf was, and wasn't that just causing him to panic more than he needed right now.
"You guys can't get enough of me, eh?!" he yells, slashing through the abyss. His swings were getting more inaccurate. He tried to steady his breathing and focus, but they weren't stopping -
“ZIDAAAANNNEE!!!”
His head snaps up and he looks in the direction of the shout. Wolf! He was still alright! Well. He was still conscious anyway. "Wo -" his answering call is cut off by the Heartless taking advantage of his distraction and beating him into the ground. His head knocks hard into Paixao's street, and Zidane is out cold, daggers scattering away from him.

Just that moment, not only a second had passed before the heartless started to dissolve back into the ground. Wolf’s eyes were wide, his eyes no longer yellow, but back to blue, pupils still constricted. He slowly got up, was it… That he was wrong, that Zidane wasn’t working for the Queen after all? Wolf made his way toward Zidane, extending his hands to lift him up in his arms gradually. This wasn’t what he wanted. He just needed answers and was gonna scare him into talking, he didn’t want it like this.
Wolf put his hand over the boy’s heart. He was still alive, but unconscious, that’s for sure. Wolf honestly was in complete shock, what should he do?! Where should he go? How could he explained what just happened?! “…Zidane?” Wolf asked, his voice shaking a bit, he stared at the kid that lay in his arms unconscious. He could almost feel his eyes sting at the burning confusion that had built up inside him.

With a wave of his paw, the Heartless were gone. Wolf himself was not perfectly unscathed, which would make this all the easier should someone show up--perhaps this "Remus" he'd called to on the journals. Scar approached without a sound from behind.
"Wolf, what have you done?" His voice pierced the silence with a certain menace, his accusatory tone echoing through the empty street.
no subject
“I didn’t… This wasn’t my fault! The heartless, they came out of nowhere and-Zidane! They all just ganged up on him, I couldn’t get to him-I…” Wolf said, his words jumbling together in uncertainty. He really was not sure why the heartless were here in the first place nor why they attacked Zidane, “Why him? Why did they…”

Seeing the lost look in Wolf's eyes could only remind Scar of his nephew on the day he'd killed Mufasa. This wasn't going to have the same effect, of course, but it would certainly be to his advantage once this "Remus" Wolf had called for frantically showed up.

The menace underlying Scar's caring tone gave his voice a rasping quality, echoing eerily in the still night.
He dramatically held a paw over his mouth, looking demure. "Oh dear...that would mean...it was you."

Though without warning Wolf froze, as soon as Scar mentioned that possibility of the darkness coming from him. A shiver ran down Wolf’s spine, it was him? He summoned the heartless… from the darkness of his heart?
Wolf’s breath stood still as he stared at Scar, “…What? You mean that I…” He looked back down at Zidane, in disbelief of what he just did to the kid. This was beyond horrifying, if the darkness in heart can harm people with the heartless, that means it could get worse. Wolf stared at Zidane, his eyes starting to glisten at the very thought of this.

The lion stepped yet closer still, though not enough that he would feel he was looking too far up at Wolf. "You're very lucky, though. It seems that he still has his heart."

Unfortunately, Remus didn't get all the information he needed as he was too startled to hear everything clearly. Remus replayed the message, wincing at the volume of Wolf's voice. He then grabbed his own journal and his wand, then pulled on his cloak and shoes and rushed out the door. Thankfully, Remus had gotten the hang of the devise and he got the map function out to get to the art museum.
Normally, Remus kept his wand in his packet. Tonight, it was gripped firmly in his hand as he cast the Lumos spell to use it as a kind of flashlight. He ran all the way to the art museum through the thick fog. Even with the light from his wand, it was almost impossible to see past a few feet in front of him.
Finally, the wizard reached his destination, and he panned the light from his wand over the scene in front of him. He saw Wolf, looking as if he had just committed a terrible crime and was very regretful of it, a sinister looking lion, and in Wolf's arms, a guy with what looked like a monkey tail. Even on his standards, this was more than a bit odd. At first, he could only stare in confusion. (And wondered about that damned tail on the other person. Remus might be able to fix that.) And then, he finally found his voice.
"What's going on?"

As soon as Wolf heard Remus, his head looked up at him. Though it was apparent that he looked extremely guilty about what happened. His eyes gleamed, he wanted to whimper, but he was trying to hold himself from doing so.
“Remus…” Wolf said, as he looked back down at Zidane, “They… The heartless I…” He couldn’t find his voice. He wanted to say that he did this to Zidane. Though it was if his heart was restraining him from speaking as well, “The darkness…. It was the darkness of my…”

"Wolf tried to fend them off, but they were simply too much for him." The lion slowly let his head fall. "Once I arrived, the Heartless were all gone."
no subject
Anyway, back to...reality? Remus gazed at the young man with the tail, then back at Wolf, who was obviously trying to say something significant, but couldn't. Remus walked over to the pair, leaving a wide area around the lion and took a look at the monkey-tailed guy. He was still breathing, but the chance that he could have suffered damage he couldn't see was pretty high in Remus' opinion. He looked back to Wolf to ask a question, but decided his friend was a bit too upset to say anything, so he turned to the lion.
"Do you know if there's a hospital around here?" Remus pulled out his journal as he asked, trying to look up one and its location anyway. He wasn't sure if he could really trust something with such large fangs and sharp claws.

She was running as fast as her small feet could take her after the other girl had told her they were at the museum. Alice had only really explored the city and all that it entailed a bit but her father had told her museums were the first place to look in a new city and so she’d at least made note of where it was. Huffing as she ran, which was very unladylike a thing to do in the first place, she spotted the group of people and a familiar looking lion near the doors to the museum. Her legs ached but she pressed on, it wasn’t that often she was running about after all.
“Mister Wooooolf!!” She cried as she approached and despite trying not to, she felt her eyes swelling with tears which soon fell down along her cheeks. She had, after all, been extremely worried about him.

Somewhere ahead of her, she heard somebody's voice calling Mr. Wolf's name, and feebly echoed it herself. "Woooolf..." That had to mean she was almost there, right?
Fortunately, she was. She arrived on the scene quite out of breath, and needed a moment to catch it before she could even look at what was going on. There was a girl she didn't recognize, and a boy with what she assumed was a flashlight, and a lion, and then Wolf - and Zidane, in his arms. Honestly she couldn't make heads or tails of the scene, and it was with that total confusion that she shuffled toward the party. "Hey, what's goin' on? Are you guys okay?"

Just in the thought of the dear girl, Wolf heard her voice cried out for his name. He quickly looked around and saw Alice running toward him. “Alice!” Wolf called out, as he reached up his arm and held out his hand for her. What was she doing out here at this time of night?!
Another girl’s voice came, this one Wolf knew for sure as he looked toward the sound. “Osaka, you’re here too?” Wolf eyes frustrated on the two girls who came to join the group. He growled a bit, his one arm still clutching to Zidane, “Wh-Why aren’t you two inside?! It’s dangerous out here! The heartless might of-…” He looked down at Zidane remember what he had just done. What if those girls were here earlier, they might have got caught up, and Wolf wouldn’t have been able to stop the heartless. The darkness of his heart might have done that… He winced. Wolf didn’t want to think about that.

"Perhaps it would be best if we were to retreat inside. I do not know where the nearest hospital is, but it will be easy to learn using the journals." He faced Remus as he spoke, clearly indicating that he meant for the other man to perform that task.
"If the Heartless have shown here once, they may do so again, and very soon. And with two young girls here, it would prove difficult to keep everyone safe."
Of course, the Heartless were just as capable of appearing indoors, but none of these humans had been in the city long enough to know that. This...Zidane, perhaps, would be able to tell them that when he awoke, but the wounds inflicted by the Heartless should guarantee some time between now and then.

He snapped back from his thoughts at the words of the lion. He nodded in agreement. "The sooner the better." Remus flicked his wand as he muttered a few words under his breath and suddenly, out of nowhere, a stretcher appeared in front of Remus. "Wolf. Let's get him on this. He'll be easier to transport this way." He pointed to the poor young man with the monkey tail.
Fortunately, Remus was also able to locate the city's hospital. Unfortunately, it wasn't as close as he would have liked, though it should take them too long to get there if they didn't run in to any trouble. Remus pointed west. "There's a hospital this way. We can take him there and stay the night, just in case any more of those things happen to be out."
Remus made a note to visit the library and look up some information on these 'heartless.' It seemed like they caused a lot of trouble around here.
