Memory's Wiles [Completed, closed]
Character(s): Roxas and Maleficent
Content: Just after meeting his best friend for the first time since losing his memories...Roxas learns just where they are.
Setting: Somewhere in the Northeast quadrant of the city
Time: Dusk, A brief time after the conclusion of this thread
Warnings: This is liable to be very creepy.
"What a day..." Roxas said to himself, sitting on a bench a few blocks away from where he'd met Axel. Talking with Vyers that morning hadn't been that bad, and until the very end, ice cream with Timon had been fun. But...meeting Axel...
Roxas looked down at his clothes, singes and burn marks covered them, and the skin underneath. His arm strayed to his injured shoulder, and he gasped in pain at even the slight motion and the lightest touch. There were plenty of bruises to go along with it, too. "What am I...supposed to do now?" he asked the air. He brought his knees up to his chest, clutching them tightly and ignoring how much he hurt.
"Axel..." he said quietly.

The voice came from behind.
In the dying light, Maleficent had finally spotted the one she was looking for. The one who's memories she had found in Ursula's abandoned lair. She was uncertain who exactly he was, however, she knew the boy's name was Roxas and, most importantly, he had some connection to Sora.
Hearing the boy's words, she'd slowly approached the bench.

"Who are you?" he demanded, not waiting to see what "answer" she claimed to have for him. He looked at her with determined eyes, ready to fight--even though it was far beyond obvious he was in no condition to even be doing so much as walking. His knees shook, and his arm burned as he outstretched his fingers to get ready to summon his weapon. He was sore, and his body ached, and he knew if he got into another fight...he might not make it back out.

It had been a long time since she'd seen this particular face, but... how was this even possible? He wasn't that boy, was he? It had been ten years... No, no, it was not possible. Besides, if her suspicions were correct, this boy was a nobody.
Roxas... Sora... That boy. How were they connected?
Maleficent was pleased. She'd certainly come upon something very interesting. She would not let this boy slip through her fingers.
She finally regarded the boy with a pleasant smile. "Now, now, there's no reason to be hasty," she replied calmly, staying in place. "I am merely someone who might know how to return to you something you currently... lack, if I am not mistaken."

"What are you talking about?!" He threw his right hand out to his side, but the motion proved more than his body could handle. His knees buckled under him, unable to hold his weight in their wide stance. He collapsed to the ground, summoning his weapon to shove into the pavement and at least catch himself a little.
He clutched its hilt with both hands, using it to support himself ans he tried, and failed, to get back to his feet.

Inside she was pleased, but she kept her expression still calm. "Why, your memories, of course," she replied.

"You know...how to get my memories back?" Just...like that? First he runs into Axel...then this weird-looking woman shows up who knows where his memories are?
Most of the anger and defensiveness was gone for now, replaced with confusion...and worry. "Tell me, how can I get them back?" He was tired of everyone being vague, and no one giving him any answers. He wanted to know why Axel had gotten so angry, and what this thing in his hand was. He wanted to know everything.

"However, it is not as simple as just getting them back. If you really want your memories returned, you will have to earn them," Maleficent continued, trying still to come off as being well intentioned, despite her intentions being anything but.

But there was nothing Roxas could do right now. He couldn't even stand on his own feet, no matter how much he wanted to just take the giant key in his hand and bash her until she gave him the answers he wanted, he couldn't. He was helpless, and powerless, and she was the only person who knew how to get back what he'd lost.
Why did...why did everyone do this to him?!

"But if you listen to me and do as I ask, your memory will be restored."
Maleficent's expression continued to not give away a thing. "Do you understand?"
no subject
"What...what do you want me to do?" he asked. She sounded like she was trying to be sincere, but the way she looked made that hard to believe. That meant he didn't look any less angry than he did when she first showed up.

The cynicism was born less of suspicion, and more of the events of that day. Vyers' trick, Timon's reaction, Axel's beating, and finding his memories...but not getting them back. He was about to scream.

"I will be in touch soon enough."
And lifting her arms, she vanished in a burst of green flames.
