Easiest. Kidnapping. Ever. [active]

Character(s): Mao and Yorda (anyone else?)
Content: Yorda is afraid! Mao's answer? Kidnapping! 8D
Setting: Genie and Urd's place, M6...again.
Time: Week 26
Warnings: Mao... Some more.

It didn't matter what was up with Yorda, really, though Mao had to admit that she was acting really weird. Sure, the goddess and the genie were annoying, but the more Mao--reluctantly--came into contact with the two, the more he came to realize that they were pretty much harmless, or at least were definitely not scary enough to warrant that kind of reaction out of Yorda. On the bright side, Yorda's current behavior was the perfect opportunity to get the two of them back for the misinformation about the surgery. Yes, he had gotten other rewards out of the incident, but the surgery was the part he had been really waiting for! He hadn't gotten a chance to do anything like that in this city! Even if what he had gotten had been kind of interesting too, it was the principle of the matter!

The point was, Mao was going to get them back, and considering how he had planned to grab Yorda for awhile now, this was just killing two birds with one stone, wasn't it? Opportunities just seemed to keep falling into his lap lately, didn't they? It almost made Mao wonder what the catch was.

Yorda had simply locked herself in her room, the window open in case she needed to run. Thankfully, none of her companions had knocked on her door or spoken to her since she'd done it, and so the girl had spent the time trying to calm down and telling herself that Mao would be there soon. She didn't think he would leave her, at least, and while she couldn't understand the uneasy feeling gnawing in the pit of her stomach, she did know what it meant: she needed to get out of here as soon as possible.

So she waited, curled up near the window, her journal in hand lest she forget it.

Yorda started when Mao entered the room, all but leaping to her feet. She took a few steps back, paler than usual with fright, before she recognized him and smiled, more brightly than she had in days. "It is you," she said simply as she took his hand. The princess was so happy to see him that she'd forgotten his dislike of being touched for the moment. "I am ready."

The glowing girl glanced around herself in order to make sure nobody else was watching. Of course, no one was, so she nodded to Mao. "I am ready." She wanted to ask why Mao was so insistent on calling it a kidnapping - not to mention what a kidnapping was - but she was so glad to see him that she said nothing.

Oh, dear. Yorda blinked at Mao, a little bemused - she'd forgotten his mannerisms a bit, having gone without seeing him for awhile. She nodded, peering out of her window. She could see the bottom, not terribly far from there. She had jumped further distances in the castle, but Mao had said he would catch her, so she merely stood aside and waited for him to go through the window. "I will wait for you," she replied. "Do not worry."

Despite her feel, Yorda felt affection and gratitude towards Mao; for all his quirks and his brusque manner, he had come to get her, and judging by the way he spoke to her, it was quite the inconvenience. Yorda looked at the ground for a moment. "I am sorry to cause you so much trouble," she said.

"Are you not angry?" Yorda asked. But it was too late; Mao had slipped through the window and leapt to the ground. Once he landed, Yorda leaned out of the window, looking for his wave. It came, and Yorda jumped easily out of the window, completely trusting in Mao and his ability to catch her.

It was nice being able to trust again; she had been far too frightened since the fog had overtaken the city at night to believe in anyone she lived with. But why?

Yorda smiled at Mao when he caught her, easily regaining her balance once he set her back on her feet. She nodded to him and ran after him, easily keeping up with the demon. Although she couldn't see very well in the fog, Mao was easy to spot. She felt uneasiness gnawing at her stomach as she breathed in the fog, giving a soft cry of fear and glancing behind her to make sure they weren't being followed.

"We must hurry," she said, sounding as small and frightened as she had on the message boards."Please."

"I will keep up," Yorda reassured him. She'd never had a problem keeping up with Ico, at least. As long as Mao didn't move like the Master - leaping about, from building to tree and so on - the princess was confident she could keep up with him. All she knew about the situation right now was that she was frightened to the point where she would do almost anything to stop the fear from intensifying. She didn't even know why she was feeling this way; it had simply hit her one night, not long ago, and it had only gotten worse from there.

Once they got to the hospital, Yorda realized her fear had faded. She felt safe around Mao, and now that she wasn't around Urd, Genie, and Belldandy, she knew she was safe. The reasons as to why she had been so afraid were still mysteries; Yorda only knew she didn't want to go back now. The girl looked around, taking a few steps away from Mao as she examined the blueprints. Not that she had any idea in the slightest as to what they were, but they looked interesting.

Yorda looked to Mao. "You do not have to worry," she said. "If it is troublesome for you, I can sleep on the floor." She had always done that in the castle, at least - although Urd had refused to allow Yorda to do such a thing, even though Yorda had slept outside for awhile after she had entered the city.

Yorda gave a quiet sigh of relief without realizing it, glad the source of her fear was away from her. Now that her head was clearer, she wondered what had happened - but no. Just thinking about Urd, Genie and Belldandy sent shivers running down her spine. She didn't want to think about them right now; she couldn't. Her attention snapped back to Mao as he spoke, and she nodded. "I do not wish to cause you trouble," she said, looking down for a moment. "I will be glad to stay in another room, if that is what you wish."

She looked back to Mao and smiled. "And if I am to stay here, will I be able to help you?"

Yorda nodded, having learned quite a few terms. It was rarer, now, for her to encounter a word she didn't recognize (though there were still some she had yet to learn), which meant there were a lot less questions in everyday conversation. "I would like that," she replied, "And I am glad to be able to help." She stepped closer to Mao, looking around the room again. She would to clean up the area when she could; maybe Mao didn't have enough time in between experiment to do so. Besides, it was nice to be useful.

"I will be careful," Yorda promised, though her nose wrinkled a little at the unfamiliar term. "What is 'screwed up'?" She also didn't understand how she couldn't keep her hands to herself, as they were attached, but she had learned that most people didn't like it when she asked more than one question every so often. Her curiosity regarding that would just have to wait - or perhaps she could ask on the message board.

"What are experiments?" On second thought, maybe she could ask more questions, as long as they pertained to the subject at hand...

"I will be careful to not make a mess or break anything," Yorda assured Mao. She had learned to serve meals and pour tea while living with Urd, and she had learned enough of what not to do to be careful with whatever she was handling. She looked steadily at Mao, completely calm again as she listened to him. "I understand," she told him. It sounded simple enough, even though Yorda had never made anything except tea and sandwiches. "If that is an experiment," Yorda wondered aloud, "then are the recipes I have been taught experiments, as well?" Genie had been teaching her how to cook before she had become frightened of him, and Yorda had learned quickly.

"I know many kinds of recipes," came the reply. Had Yorda been more knowledgeable of social interaction she would have asked what Mao wanted, but as things were, she would simply have to learn as she went along. She had mostly learned from listening to instructions and mimicking what others (mostly Genie) had done, rather than from reading any book on the subject.

Yorda blinked, needing to take a moment to think about things. "I know soups," she began, "and salads. I know how to make desserts, but I do not know how to make cakes yet. I know how to make noodles, but not rice..." she trailed off, gesturing, realizing she knew more recipes than Mao likely wanted to hear at the moment.

Yorda nodded. "I know how to make cookies," she replied, her nose wrinkling a little in confusion. "I do not know their names." She had been too busy learning the recipes to ask Genie for their names - and besides, knowing Genie, he would have come up with a dozen or so different names. Best to simply make them and then ask someone else what they were. Perhaps the recipe for spiderweb cookies was one she knew, but she wouldn't know until she tried it.

Yorda nodded. "I will make them for you," she replied with a smile. She was happy; here, she would be safe, and she would be able to help, something she'd been wanting to do but hadn't been able to since she came, with the exception of bringing food to the Master or helping Genie with the occasional meal. As a matter of fact, since she had learned to cook, that had mostly been what Yorda had been doing. "What else will I do?" She knew she was becoming Mao's assistant, but she didn't yet know exactly what that entailed.
