Easiest. Kidnapping. Ever. [active]
Character(s): Mao and Yorda (anyone else?)
Content: Yorda is afraid! Mao's answer? Kidnapping! 8D
Setting: Genie and Urd's place, M6...again.
Time: Week 26
Warnings: Mao... Some more.
It didn't matter what was up with Yorda, really, though Mao had to admit that she was acting really weird. Sure, the goddess and the genie were annoying, but the more Mao--reluctantly--came into contact with the two, the more he came to realize that they were pretty much harmless, or at least were definitely not scary enough to warrant that kind of reaction out of Yorda. On the bright side, Yorda's current behavior was the perfect opportunity to get the two of them back for the misinformation about the surgery. Yes, he had gotten other rewards out of the incident, but the surgery was the part he had been really waiting for! He hadn't gotten a chance to do anything like that in this city! Even if what he had gotten had been kind of interesting too, it was the principle of the matter!
The point was, Mao was going to get them back, and considering how he had planned to grab Yorda for awhile now, this was just killing two birds with one stone, wasn't it? Opportunities just seemed to keep falling into his lap lately, didn't they? It almost made Mao wonder what the catch was.

So she waited, curled up near the window, her journal in hand lest she forget it.

Taking one last look around to make certain no one was looking, Mao crossed the distance between the bush and the home, leaping the remaining distance up to the window and sliding in with ease. A flawless entry.
It wasn't long before he noticed a shadow on the ground, and Mao immediately whipped his head up to see who it belonged to. "Oh, it's you," he deadpanned. "Good. Get together everything you need and we'll get out of here." He crossed his arms. "And this is a kidnapping, okay? You're being kidnapped. I'm stealing you and taking you somewhere else."

The glowing girl glanced around herself in order to make sure nobody else was watching. Of course, no one was, so she nodded to Mao. "I am ready." She wanted to ask why Mao was so insistent on calling it a kidnapping - not to mention what a kidnapping was - but she was so glad to see him that she said nothing.

What was with that weird smile?
"Good." He nodded and glanced toward the window. It was going to be a bit difficult to get out of here again, wasn't it? They could try and leave through the front door, but that would probably be even more difficult. "Nn. All right, I'm going to go back out the window. You wait for me to wave you down and drop down after. I'll..." He made a disgusted face, far from pleased with the plan. Of course this would be the easiest way to do it. "catch you, I guess." It wasn't like she was a demon. She would probably break her legs if she tried, Mao imagined.
"But no more touching after that, got it?"

Despite her feel, Yorda felt affection and gratitude towards Mao; for all his quirks and his brusque manner, he had come to get her, and judging by the way he spoke to her, it was quite the inconvenience. Yorda looked at the ground for a moment. "I am sorry to cause you so much trouble," she said.

It was a good thing she was being a good sport about this. Made things a lot easier on him.

It was nice being able to trust again; she had been far too frightened since the fog had overtaken the city at night to believe in anyone she lived with. But why?

"Okay, let's get going before we're noticed. Come on," he said quickly before hurrying off in the direction of St. Destino. She would know the way, right? It wasn't like she hadn't been to his lab before or anything. Although he was thinking of having Yorda light the way again or something. What was with this sudden fog, anyway? It just appeared out of nowhere. At least it always seemed to be gone by morning.

"We must hurry," she said, sounding as small and frightened as she had on the message boards."Please."
no subject
"What do you think I'm doing? It's going to take awhile to get there no matter what. If you want me to run faster, fine, but you'd better keep up."

"I guess I'll have to go find another bed. And an empty room. There are probably some blankets around here somewhere," Mao said, mostly to himself, crossing his arms and staring at the floor in thought. He hadn't even thought about telling Almaz and Beryl someone else was going to be staying here now.

Yorda looked to Mao. "You do not have to worry," she said. "If it is troublesome for you, I can sleep on the floor." She had always done that in the castle, at least - although Urd had refused to allow Yorda to do such a thing, even though Yorda had slept outside for awhile after she had entered the city.

"Someone will say something," Mao said. "And I don't want to have to deal with any complaints from anyone else if I don't have to." He was probably already going to get an earful from Beryl once she caught wind of this. "Besides, you're staying in another room. It's not like there isn't a lot of them around here to take."
no subject
She looked back to Mao and smiled. "And if I am to stay here, will I be able to help you?"
no subject
But still, if she was offering, who was Mao to give up such a convenient offer? "Let's see..." He thought on the matter for a moment. What did he want from her. "I could always use an assistant." A lot of the mad scientists in his comic books had them, and considering the looks Almaz tended to get on his face whenever Mao started talking about his experiments, it would probably be better to strike the Ex-Fake Hero off his list of options pretty quickly. Plus, Yorda could provide a little extra light if he needed it. He just hoped she wouldn't ask too many questions of him while he was working.

...Did he really just think that?
"Good," he said. "Because that's what you're going to be doing. Just make sure that when I'm in the middle of an experiment that you don't touch anything, okay? I don't want to have anything get screwed up because you can't keep your hands to yourself." Which, considering how touchy-feely Yorda seemed to be, was a pretty hard thing for her to do in and of itself.
no subject
"What are experiments?" On second thought, maybe she could ask more questions, as long as they pertained to the subject at hand...

"When you want to find out how something works or how something will work if you do a certain thing to it," he finally decided on. "Like put different things in their body or make them run around in order to test out something you made."

One word in particular immediately caught Mao's attention. "Desserts?" he echoed, turning around to face her. Good. There was a chance! A slim chance, but it was still possible! "What about cookies?" he asked. "You know how to make spiderweb cookies?"
That was slightly less possible, but dammit, he had been waiting for those cookies for a long time.
