Somewhere Out There [Active]

Character(s): Wolf, Zuko
Content: Zuko wanting to know if there is a way out of Paixao, explores with Wolf at St. Destino, they eventually will discover Halloween Town.
Setting: It starts off in the Elysian Fields to St. Destino, then into Halloween Town
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: None Yet

Wolf waited by the Niflheim gate, he wanted to know if there was a possible way out of Paixao himself. He wanted make sure Virginia was ok, and didn’t want her to be any type of trouble. Even if she doesn’t love him, it still meant the world to him to know if she’s all right. Wolf folded his arms and lingered near the Elysian Fields by the gate. He looked out in the fields, out there was some kind of unknown smell. It was something that he definitely wanted to check out. Hopefully, it was something that could help him and his plan to eventually get out of this place.

Unfortunately, that also meant that the Queen would try to track Wolf down. However, as long as it isn’t a mirror that leads to an outside world, then he should be ok. The last thing he would want is to face that terrible woman again. It’s both a pain and a gift that he’s away from home. However, Wolf knows he can’t stay here for long, not while Virginia might still be in danger. He just continued his gaze out in the fields while he waited for Zuko to join him.

"What a waste of time." Zuko slung the new swords over his shoulder and into their sheath, ignoring the shouts of panic in the store behind him. It wasn't his fault they didn't see more firebenders around. And he hadn't actually burned anything, just made flames in the air in front of him. Maybe if they had a good barter system he wouldn't have had to threaten the store owner just to get a proper pair of matched swords.

He had them now, anyway, that was the important part. Leaving the city without weapons didn't sound like a very good idea to him, since everyone talked about how dangerous everything was supposed to be out there. The gate in the West was a good distance from the shop, and he'd gone in right after talking to the guy on the journals, so it took a while for Zuko to get there.

Now he had to keep an eye out for the person he was looking for...easier said than done, in these crowds. He thought for a moment of using firebending to clear the space, but that would probably make the guy he was meeting up with just as scared as everyone else. Hopefully the prince's scar would make him easy to pick out, though he hadn't told Wolf anything about it...

"Quit calling attention to us!" Zuko quickly snapped in a hushed, tense voice. "The last thing we need is everyone paying attention to what we're doing." He looked around to make sure no one actually was, then took a more normal tone so he didn't appear to be hiding something.

"I'm Zuko. And yes, we did. Let's get going, I don't want to stay in this stupid dome any longer than I have to." Without waiting for Wolf to respond, Zuko went to the gate, easily making his way through the crowd now that he didn't have to worry about finding someone. The swords on his back, and the scar on his face, made the whole ordeal much easier.

The sunlight almost felt unnatural now, after being in the domes with their fake light for so long, and it was blinding for a few seconds. The prince blinked a few times before he said anything. "Yeah. I've only been here for about a week." Zuko's answers were terse, and his entire body was tensed up.

"What about you?" He didn't look at Wolf, or even slow down, as he talked. His eyes were trained directly forward, taking in everything in front of him in the fields. So far, it was all still, and not a sound was out of place. That only served to worry him.

"I was in the middle of something," Zuko replied flatly. "Something important." He wasn't about to spill his entire life story to someone he'd just met, not unless it turned out that it would make a difference.

Surprisingly, there were still no signs of anything out here other than them. They should have been getting near that St. Destino place by now, too, though Zuko couldn't see anything of it just yet. It was hard to tell out here though, everything looked the same until you were a few feet away from it.

"It's nothing to laugh about." There wasn't so much as an acknowledgment of what Wolf said after the chuckle. Thankfully, it was only a moment later that the building came into view.

The prince kept his footsteps silent and his hands on his swords as they neared the door. His eyes were open wide, and darted quickly around, constantly scanning for signs of anything that was coming toward them. The last thing Zuko wanted was to get ambushed from behind. He didn't speak a word as he walked carefully backwards inside the door, closing it as well as its damaged hinges would allow. It did nothing to make him less tense that there was a door halfway off its frame between them and the outside.

"Let's go upstairs, then. The sooner we're out of this place, the better."

"What the...?" Zuko couldn't even finish his sentence. There was an island through a door. How was that even possible? It didn't make any sort of sense at all. Not even Uncle would have been able to explain something like this.

"'Different' isn't exactly the word I'd use." More like unbelievable. "What kind of crazy place is this?" Not only had everyone shown up here without warning, there was this island where there should have only been another room.

Zuko quickly smacked the fruit out of Wolf's hand. "What are you doing, stupid?! How do you know that thing's not poisoned?!" He glared up at the older man, who was at the moment seeming rather more childish than anything else. "What kind of idiot just eats random fruit off a tree that he's never seen before?! Especially when he doesn't even know where he is?!"

The frustrated prince almost growled, then pushed his way past Wolf. "Don't eat anything else until you find some way to test it." There wasn't anything very special that he could see anywhere on the island, blinding sunshine aside. The place was teeming with plantlife, and he could see fish out in the ocean water and birds overhead, but there wasn't another person in sight.

"This place is creepy," he muttered to himself.

"Not that we can see, anyway," Zuko said petulantly. Then a thought occurred to him. "You think there's another door here that might lead somewhere else? Like the one that brought us to this island?"

A long shot, but one that at least made some sense. If this was supposed to be a castle with a bunch of floors, then maybe that door had led them to another floor, and Paixao was on a different one from this sunny island. "We should start looking for one, maybe we can go further in to the castle that way."

"It would make sense that they would hide the door, if they don't want us getting out. But who puts a door next to a waterfall?" Zuko couldn't help but wonder about the intelligence of the people who built this place. The store room in the abandoned building a huge distance from the city walls made plenty of sense, it would be incredibly hard to find there if its location hadn't been spread throughout the city. But wasn't a cave near a waterfall a little obvious, after something so well-hidden?

Not that the prince was complaining. The easier this was...and the faster, the better. If they were stupid enough to put the next door in such an easily found spot, it only made things quicker.

"How can you tell there's something there, anyway?"

"A good sense of smell, huh? How can anyone smell something like that from this far away?" Zuko was dubious until Wolf actually found the cave, and then he was dumbstruck. "You weren't kidding..."

Scrawled all over the cave walls were chalk drawings that looked like they were drawn by little kids. They were cute enough, but mostly just random scribbles. This island must have been where all the children played...assuming it was real. Zuko was having a lot of trouble believing that at this point.

"Yeah, especially a door that looks exactly the same as the one we came through to get here."
