Shards of Sanity [Complete]
Characters: The Master and Yorda
Content: Yorda takes a break from looking for Toph in order to find the Master.
Setting: The beach outside Nifleheim
Time: Week 22, mid-afternoon
Warnings: ... The Master?
She had to find him. It wasn't simply to stop him from doing as he said he would, but also to make sure that he would be alright. He sounded so strange, speaking in such a manner; even Yorda could tell something was wrong, although she had never seen an insane person before and could not comprehend doing something so terrible for no reason (at least, that was what it seemed to Yorda). She fretted as she slipped out the door, not leaving so much as a note for Urd (especially as she had yet to learn what a note was) as she did so, and set out into the street. The princess remembered how ravenously hungry the Master had been when she'd met him, and made her way to Auntie Unde's in order to buy some meat for him. It was at least half an hour before she set out again, the basket she'd brought with her heavy with what she'd purchased.
It wasn't long after that that Yorda had to decide where to look. She'd searched quite a bit of the city for Toph, and hadn't seen the Master in all that time; maybe it was time to venture outside of the city. The girl walked to the gate nearest the shop and merely shook her head, her lips firmly pressed together when the guard demanded that she stay inside. Surprisingly, Yorda was allowed past without much fuss, and although she felt guilty for not answering the guard's questions, she had simply been too worried to speak much. The girl began to walk, picking a random direction and not knowing where she was headed. It was the only way to find out where the Master was, really... at least, that's what she hoped. She had never done this before.

"I suppose you wouldn't happen to know Praetoris? Or hear the drums?" he asked with a clear bitterness in his voice.

"Thanks for the meal," he added, though he didn't sound as grateful as he should have, considering the feast before him. "Did you vote for me? It doesn't matter if you had, but I wanted to know."

"If Praetoris talks, I'll call off the dogs," he said before quickly taking back his words in consideration for Yorda's misunderstanding of phrases and idioms. "If Praetoris makes himself known as a real person, I won't do anything rash. However, if he crosses any lines with me, I will take the battle directly to him."

"I will help you look for him," Yorda decided. She didn't want The Master to seek him alone, especially considering that she knew how the election results had upset him. She didn't want him to be alone at a time like this.

With that final note, he placed his hands to his sides, palms down, and shot himself off the sands and into the sky with a giant leap.

It was time to start looking around and asking questions.
