Out of the Fire [Active]
Character(s): Megara, Zetta
Content: Megara has to be certain Hades is gone and runs into someone even more annoying in the process.
Setting: Around G5, outside The Glass Bonsai
Time: Week 22, morning.
Warnings: Sarcasm and swearing?
Megara was not an optimist. She was still arguably young, but sometimes if felt like she had lifetime of mistakes and heartache. A life that taught her that when something was too good to be true, it was. So when she hadn't heard even a whisper from Hades in more than a few weeks, she didn't allow herself to hope. When she couldn't even find the barest scrap of his presence whispered among the natives, she ignored the urge to celebrate. It wasn't like him to just up and leave, after all. Especially without her in his oily grasp.
Business was slow with everyone focusing the elections, so today, she closed up shop and headed out into the city. Now she found herself wandering in what looked like a cheaper part of town. There was a pawnshop across the street, she noted with mild interest. And still no sign of the being that owned her.

It wasn't too long before he managed to catch sight of a woman (what was it with him running into chicks and the cockroach brat all the time?) by one of the stores. "Hey, you!" he called to get her attention.
no subject
She watched him with one lifted eyebrow, silent as she waited for whatever it was he wanted to say.
no subject
"How long have you been here?" he asked, deciding to get that out of the way first. He didn't really pay too much attention to who wandered in and out of the city, so it would probably be better to make sure this chick actually had some information on her.
no subject
"I've lost track," she replied, tilting her head up to meet his gaze. "Too long." He seemed all business and not remotely interested in her the way most men were, so it couldn't hurt to help him out a little. Right?

There was just no way she was going to get caught up in this sort of mess again.

"You're talking to the most badass freakin' Overlord in the cosmos. I'm pretty sure I could find a way to get you to talk."
no subject
She turned to face him completely, a sardonic smile curving her lips. "No wonder you don't know anything. You always go around threatening people you want help from? Here's news for you, Red. There isn't a way out. Not for people like us."

"Clean the fire out of your ears and listen to me. There isn't a way out," she enunciated carefully, as if speaking to a small child. "You think we're all just here on vacation?"
no subject
Sure, he didn't mind people stopping to think about crap from time to time--even if most of the time it turned out to be pointless and wasted perfectly good time spent blowing things up--but this wasn't even that. It was just being lazy. The bad kind of lazy.

"You wanna know what I know about this place? It's a magnet for zeroes like you. You think you can just order people around because you were some big shot in another world? You're not in your world anymore, no one's even heard of you and there are way bigger problems than you under these domes."
no subject
"But fine, we'll play it your way. Just what do you have planned, huh? Got any ideas?"
whoa, so late, sorry. DX
"I'm not one of the people in any rush to leave," she finally admitted, glancing away. "But I know the only way out of this world is to find a door to a new one. People think the more doors they open, the greater the chance they'll open a door to their world."
no subject
The door thing kind of made sense. He'd already heard about the castle thing and everything that came with it. And if there was some way to get back to his Netherworld, he wouldn't have to be asked twice before his ass was out of this place and back to it. Hell, maybe he'd grab the Yoshitsuna and get a little revenge while the going was still good. But...
"'People think...?' So, what, is it true or not?"
no subject
But she wasn't about to talk about this to anyone, least of all this guy. Not that he really cared.
She shrugged at his question, turning to lean against the wall of the nearby building. "Nothing's been proven, it's just a theory. But it's the only one that makes any sense." Her mouth twisted into a dark smirk. "Or maybe they're just trying to convince themselves."
no subject
The Overlord stared down at Megara, trying to figure out whether or not she was just messing with him. He still didn't like the sound of that theory, but it was as much as he had. "Personally, I think I'm still going to stick with the 'Beat the Crap Out of the Head Honcho' theory," he decided with a small shrug. It had always worked for him before, and would probably work now. Not that he couldn't check out any more of the other worlds that were in this weird-ass castle while he worked to that.
