Enter: A Different Kind of Devil(Closed)

Character(s): Raspberyl and open~
Content: Paixao gets a good bad influence
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: A little before noon
Warnings: Demon delinquency, probably.

Raspberyl looked around the parched burned ground and fake trees with a curious sort of puzzlement. She had once heard that humans sometimes had a habit of being superficial, but she didn't think that included the trees.

Still, who would have thought that they actually had dimensional gates in the human world? Raspberyl mused over this. Perhaps the humans really had improved on inter-dimensional traveling more then her books thought. But those thoughts weren't as important as her observations of being in an actual human line! The over abundance of quiet was actually a little unsettling. Had this been an actual demon line, there would be pushing and gouging and maybe even a murder or two. But nope, just peaceful waiting, maybe a few curious glances here or there, but nothing to note. And nobody even noticing that she was a demon!! How neat was that!

Patiently waiting her turn, the demon delinquent finally got to the front of the line. "Your--" but the demon cut her off.

"The name's Raspberly, and I'm the number one delinquent in the--..." her voice trailed as she decided at that moment that maybe revealing herself to be a demon may be too much, too soon. "I'm a friend of the bride and groom."

The gate keeper jotted the name, and handed the little girl a computerized device. "This is yours, welcome to Paixao!"

"Thanks much!" Beryl chirped. "Um, if it's not too much trouble, where is the chapel? I have to get there soon or I'll be late!"

The gatekeeper looked down with a bit of curious surprise. "Well... the St. Destino hospital had a church... maybe you should go there first?"

"The hospital..?" Beryl pondered. "Well... I suppose Sapphire's reputation would be pretty well known here. I guess that's good thinking! Thanks much! Sorry if I cut and run, but I'm in a hurry!" And with that, the demon delinquent barreled to the nearest church... five miles away.

Curiosity and boredom had driven Mao out to the gates of the city. While he remained curious about the other worlds beyond this one, a sudden thought had occurred to him. It seemed that every person who had shown up had appeared near one of the gates. Why there? Why not anywhere else? Was there something he was missing? Some kind of interdimensional teleporter? If that was the case, he had to see it for himself, if not to get out of here, than to figure out how it worked.

The first place to check, of course, would be the gate he entered. It was the only logical place to start, and would have been second only to Niflheim had his evil intellect not told him to try this one first. It was the one that brought him here, so it was the best place to start, pure and simple.

As Mao drew nearer to Vanaheim, he caught a familiar glimpse of pink in the distance. He stopped mid-stride, wondering if it was his imagination, but after a few blinks and an adjustment of his glasses, it was still there. "B-Beryl?!"

"Softie?! Don't use sickening words like that to describe me!" he snapped. It was almost automatic, so much so that it took a moment for him to piece together the problems with everything she had said before. "'Decided to come?'" he asked. "What are you talking about? Decided to come where? Did you hit your head or something on the way in?"

[identity profile] madsciencemaou.livejournal.com 2010-04-28 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Tch, of course not! And even if it were, I'd be much less obvious about it than that. I'll spell it out for you: I didn't decide to 'come' anywhere, especially not to this stupid place. No one here did," he explained, his frown deepening as he crossed his arms.

Mao gave her another look over, a sudden thought coming to him. "You didn't do anything while I was gone did you? Do any cleaning? Created a book club? Forced anyone to follow the dress code?"

"It's a human world, but even that's questionable." Where did she think they were going? "And of course I was there before I came here." Was this something similar to what the Fake Hero and Princess had mentioned before? They had said he'd been right behind them, and if what people had said on the journals before was right, this wouldn't be the first time there was a difference in time between two people.

A soft "Hmph" preceded Mao's next question. "Oi, Beryl, what's the last thing you remember before appearing here?"

Mao could only stare at Beryl in confusion for a moment. "Getting wind of...? They're already married! I should know, they won't stop making those mushy faces at one another. It's driving me insane." Then again, that was probably the kind of thing Beryl would WANT to see, though he couldn't even begin to fathom why. It was annoying and distracting. The only good thing Mao could see coming out of it was easy research if he ever got back to trying to find out the chemical formula of love.

Mao lowered his head in thought. "I guess that means you're from the past... Not too far, though. At least now I'll actually have someone here worth a challenge."

"They're already married," Mao repeated. Was it really that hard to get? "They decided to honeymoon at the Evil Academy. Then stuff started going missing so we went to check it out. That's it." At least it was only a small time difference. It was a little disappointing, though. It would have been interesting to see how experiments on someone who came from the past affected the future.

"Wha--NO! If you don't believe me, ask Ex-Fake Hero and Princess! They'll say the same thing! Why the hell would I lie about this? And I don't even know what glue they have here!" Mao snapped back. "Tch... Whatever. I don't care whether you believe me or not."

Mao was quiet for a moment, looking Beryl over as if to find any hint that she was just playing along. "Somewhere called Paixao," he finally said. "It's supposed to be some kind of castle, and each floor has a different world. Everyone ends up here first. Some anonymous guy said that by reaching the top of the castle we can go home, but who knows if Anonymous can be trusted."

"It's either him or this Organization XIII group. Whoever they are, they're probably stronger than they look. I'm not the only Overlord here." Even if he would rather forget that the cockroach even existed. "Whoever he was, he was right about there being another floor. Obviously he knows more than he's letting on."

As Beryl began to look over the brochures, Mao wondered if they actually had anything of worth in them. He had been more interested in the journal when he had arrived, and everything else had fallen by the wayside. He'd probably just tossed them away somewhere. "I don't know," he answered honestly. "It's a lot more annoying than I imagined being from the future would be."

"If I could get out of here, I would have been out months ago. I don't even have a cord to charge my Slaystation Portable with!" The only thing he even had were those Heartless to experiment on and even that got boring after twenty of them ended up disappearing on him.

"I'm getting to that. I need to put the finish touches on my new lab, first." It was difficult to tell whether or not he was kidding. "Other than that and trying to figure out how to get out of here, I've been learning that just about everyone in this entire city is insane. Some of them seem to have some amount of sanity to them, but everyone else obviously has something misfiring up there."

"Oi, I'm nothing like them! These people require a whole new level of padded walls to contain them all!" It almost made him wonder if he'd somehow stumbled into the part of town with the asylum, if there was one of those in the city. A cocky smirk quickly appeared on Mao's face as Beryl showed interest in his lab. "Heh, it's better than anyone else around here could possibly come up with, and in the perfect location, too!" he bragged. "I'll show you a lab worthy of the greatest of scientists!"

He may have been embellishing a little, though, considering how most of his time had been spent trying to figure out the Heartless problem... But the cages did add a certain something to the atmosphere.

The grin never left Mao's face, and instead he let out a loud laugh. "Where do you think I put it?! What better place to put a lab than a run-down hospital! The abandoned halls... The metal rusted just enough to be unnerving but not enough to take down the structure... The very smell of the hospital itself...! Clearly no choice could be better!"
