Let's Ditch This Place [Active]

Character(s): Laharl, Etna and Flonne
Content: They... leave Halloween Town.
Setting: Halloween Town and anywhere in between.
Time: Early week 20 presumably. Sometimes after fighting Vyers and Laharl's conversation with him on the journals... but before Flonne at Iroh's tea place. SOMEWHERE IN THERE, YEAH.
Warnings: ...None as of now.

The trio had ended up spending a fair deal of time in 'Halloween Town' exploring and fighting. Laharl still thought it was a dumb name, but the dark atmosphere had been a rather welcome change to Paixao's , but he'd quickly found the place did have it's draw backs. One such draw back was a lack of food. At least not much that was edible. Laharl's stomach was starting to grumble something awful.

About all they had in reward for their efforts to find the next floor, were cards. A couple stupid cards. Laharl would have chucked them aside, if it wasn't that he had a feeling they were for something, so he held onto them. Maybe someone else would have some bright idea of what they were for.

And then there was Vyers.

While Laharl had tried to put the fight out of his mind, he just couldn't stop thinking about how strange it was and how off it had felt. He'd fought 'Mid-Boss' plenty of times and never seen him do anything quite like that. Cramps and stupid excuses? Yes, but just nothing like that. And the young demon was fairly sure he hadn't injured him; Laharl hadn't used that much power. As much as he'd once had the desire to kill his father, he couldn't say he particularly desired it now, (and he was already Overlord, so wouldn't exactly achieve anything), so hadn't felt any inclination to use a lot of energy. Never mind the fact he hadn't exactly need to use much power to knock Vyers down a peg.

Still, it just bugged him. The sense something was wrong kept tickling him in the back of his mind. In the end, Laharl found a chance to break away from Etna and Flonne to check his journal and had spoken to his father.

Of course, he'd denied anything was wrong at all. Laharl wasn't stupid. The conversation completely pointed to something being up, not to mention how he was typing his replies while Laharl had been voice posting. Usually he did too, so that seemed like another clue. Something was wrong, just the question was, what? How serious was this? It had to be somewhat serious, or he wouldn't have been hiding it like that. Gah! It was just so damn frustrating. As usual, his old man wasn't telling him things!

Stupid Old Man. Stupid, stupid, stupid...

Laharl, of course, tried to just shrug it off. What did he care? He didn't. Not one little bit! Let him keep his stupid secrets. Even if Laharl DID know what was wrong, what could he do anyways? Nothing.

But it just wouldn't go away.

"The food here sucks. Let's get the hell out of here already," Laharl told Flonne and Etna eventually. While Laharl's mood had taken a dive for the worst, hopefully they had put it down to Laharl being crabby due to hunger.

He'd get back to Paixao, get food, maaaaaaybe check on his old man, then come back out here to find the next floor. Then he could get back to finding the other floor without wondering about stupid things.

Following Laharl dutifully, Flonne carried one of the cards they'd found, examining it carefully. It was an interesting little thing, though she knew she was in the minority on that opinion. She lifted it close up and peered over the edge of it at Laharl, the concern that has began during the earlier fight now growing into full-fledged worry. Even since her confession of sorts after the fiasco with the cake, Flonne was particularly watchful of his moods and expressions in a desire to understand him more. This desire was born out of the very intense need she had to bridge the gap that still lingered between them.

"If this were a real Halloween place, there'd be candy somewhere," she ventured, glancing at Etna.

Etna followed along beside Flonne, slouching over a bit to exaggerate her hunger. Though, perhaps hearing Flonne mention candy made it not so exaggerated. "Seriously. Instead, we got bunch of crummy cards. What are we, a bunch of human teens going around playing children's card games to save the world? Give me a break." she replied, making a sort of grimaced look.

Flonne didn't think puzzle games were that bad, though she did prefer fighting games more. "Puzzles can be fun, though!" she chirped, running to catch up once she realized she'd trailed behind during her internal weighing of game types. "And you're both pretty good at them. The geo-panels are a kind of puzzle and..."

She trailed off, blinking a few times at the shadows around them. "Um..." She took hold of Laharl's scarf and tugged it to get his attention. "What's that?" she asked, pointing to the yellow points of light increasing in number in the shadows not too far ahead.

Etna couldn't argue with that. They were kind of fun to do when she wasn't paying attention to her prinnies doing her dirty work. A shame there were none around. Etna couldn't help but imagine what kind of goodies they could get.

Her attention was brought back after Flonne's inquiry and resulting looking at the eerie yellow lights continued to multiply and move toward them. "I've got a feeling they aren't very friendly..."

Flonne still felt conflicted about Heartless. They were created out of pure darkness and of course, that was bad, but...they were so cute! She almost felt bad when they destroyed the things. She let go of Laharl's scarf, letting him move ahead unhindered for a moment. Following slowly, she was too distracted by the eyes following them that she didn't see the movement underfoot.

"Wuah!" she cried out suddenly, tripping over the root of a Creeper Plant, wincing at the impact to the ground as well as the sharp roots cutting her exposed legs.

Etna immediately sprang into action, whipping out her spear and going for a leaping stab at the Creeper Plant that tripped Flonne. After a few more stabs to make sure it was defeated, she lowered a hand for Flonne to help her back up. "Come on, Flonne, be a little more careful!"

Frankly, Etna would have just left Flonne there to go after the rest of the incoming Heartless, but Etna figured she should be careful about ignoring the other two in favor of more experience. She still needed to keep them from finding out about that.

More embarrassed than truly hurt, Flonne blushed as she was helped up by Etna. "I'm s-sorry! I wasn't looking where I was walking..." She reached down to rub at her sore ankles, considering finding a nice pair of boots soon rather than the cute high heeled Mary Janes.

Suddenly, another ghost like Heartless appeared behind them. Flonne's battle instinct kicked in and she quickly pulled out her staff, spinning it like a baton a few times before getting into a fighting stance. Star damage should do fine for a Heartless like this, certainly...? What monsters had resistance to Star magic, after all?

"I won't hold back!" She lifted her staff, light glowing around it briefly. A second later and the Heartless was surrounded by bright pink light. The Giga Star spell exploded from underneath it, the light briefly taking the shape of wings before disappearing.
