She'd thought she was done with this sort of thing... [Completed]
Character(s): Tiana, anyone else
Content: Tiana arrives at Paixao.
Setting: The Niflheim Gate
Time: Week 19, Early Morning
Warnings: None foreseeable.
It was raining, but the young woman hardly noticed. She was more focused on the situation she'd found herself in.
Tiana had really thought she was done with this sort of thing - the strange and inexplicable. But there she was, having just opened the kitchen door of Tiana's Palace, only to find herself in a place that was very much not a kitchen. The door had vanished the moment she'd stepped through, so it didn't look like she was getting back the way she came.
But what was this place?
She noticed a line of people and joined in, figuring they must be in line for something. Maybe it would be something helpful. Part of her wanted to question those in front of her, but the precession was moving along so efficiently and quietly that she would have felt awkward doing so. No matter - it didn't take long for a gate of silver ice to come into view, and once Tiana knew where she was headed it hardly seemed to take any time at all to get there.
"Your name?" she was asked as she reached a booth at the end of the line.
"...Tiana," the young woman said cautiously. Upon answering, she was given some sort of device. "What is-" she began, but the serious look she received told her this was not the place for questions. So she stepped aside, staring at the gate, unsure if she should enter or not... Well, that was what everyone before her in line had done. She was thinking about this, smoothing out her simple green dress as she did so, when the pamphlets surrounding the booth. That could be helpful...
Still cautious, she moved back over to the booth and picked up one of the brochures. Inside she found a list of establishments and their locations. Tiana sighed. This wouldn't do her any good until she figured out where she was. As she closed the brochure, she noted the word on the cover. Paixao, huh? She wasn't even sure how to pronounce that...
Well, it didn't matter at this point, she decided. She was there, and nothing outside of the gate seemed very keen on telling her where 'there' was. So, with a deep breath, she stepped inside.

Tiana thought about this for a moment, not paying attention to her surroundings. She came back to reality in time to just avoid colliding with the dancing girl. "Oh! 'Scuse me!"
no subject
She'd just added in a nice long spin when she noticed someone walking nearer and shifted out of the way, taking a good look at the other girl. She looked lost. "It's okay! Are you new?"

"Many different people arrive here almost daily. You'll get used to it after a while. Oh, my name's Yuna. If you want, I can show you around."
no subject
She gave yet another slow nod at Yuna's second comment. What she was saying sounded impossible, but if it had happened to Tiana, well... Why not someone else? "Nice t'meet you, Yuna," Tiana said, offering her hand. "I'm Tiana. And... If you don't mind, that'd be swell."
no subject
So she smiled at Tiana and nodded, about to make an answer when the hand was offered to her. Being more used to bows for the High Summoner of the Eternal Calm, the handshake took her off-guard for a second, but she grasped Tiana's hand and shook it a little awkwardly.
"It's good to meet you, too, Tiana. I don't mind showing you around at all." She turned to gesture towards the general area. "You'll probably need to find a place to stay, at least for now. The apartment complex I'm staying in should have a few rooms open." Tiana seemed like a person Yuna wouldn't mind being near. Belle would probably like her. Lenne, as well, but Lenne wasn't Yuna's roommate. Still, the young girl was already planning who to introduce Tiana to. She knew several people who would get along with her.
"Let's start this way, towards the center of town. Is there anything you're interested in?"
no subject
She was glad she'd found Yuna - The young woman was being quite friendly and helpful; exactly what one wanted when they were stuck in a strange new place. Who knows what kind of less savory folks she could have met there?
"Well, thanks," Tiana said with a smile. However, the smile faltered at Yuna's next comment. For now... How long would she be here? "Yeah, that'd be nice." She brushed a stray lock of hair behind her ear, thinking it over. Finding a place to stay would certainly be a good idea, but it made things feel so... Permanent. Still, she was there for the moment, at least, so she might as well.
"That depends," Tiana answered. "How long d'you think I'll be here?"
no subject
She bounced on the balls of her feet again, hesitating at Tiana's question of time. That was always tricky, admitting how long people had been trapped here. "It might be a while," she answered finally, opting for being truthful. "I think I've been here for about four months? I've kind of lost track of time."
Yuna blushed apologetically at that. Normally, she was much better at keeping track of things, but time was odd here in general. She started walking, pointing out a few places of interest as they walked. "There are all kinds of restaurants here and you can pay with just about anything. They don't really have a set form of currency. It's strange to get used to, but nice once you do."
no subject
However, she managed to tear herself away from her concerns when Yuna mentioned restaurants. Perhaps... If she was going to be stuck here for a while... "The restaurants," Tiana began, looking over at Yuna, "are any of 'em hirin'?" If this was going to be... Home... Well, she might as well be doing what she so loved. It might make things easier.
aaahh I'm sorry about the delay! School ate me!
The longer she stayed here, the less awkward saying that sort of thing became for Yuna. She glanced upwards at the sky and danced ahead a few steps ahead a few steps. "We could probably take a train close to where I'm staying," she commented, bouncing as she turned around to face Tiana again. "It would cut down on walking time."
Ah, no worries! I know what that's like.
"A train?" Tiana asked. "Sounds good to me." She didn't mind the walking, as it allowed her to get a feel for her new environment, but she figured the it would be better to try and find a place to stay sooner rather than later.
/hopefully quits failing
The idea of tree leaves as money was ridiculous. Yuna couldn't disagree about that. But at least it meant that no one would be particularly hard up and she wouldn't have to worry about that at least.
"All right. It shouldn't be a long ride. I'll introduce you to my roommate if she's there and then we can make sure you're settled." Maybe she was planning on asking Belle if Tiana could room with them. If she did, at least Yuna could keep an eye on the other girl better and make sure she settled in fine.
"Oh... and you should be careful who you talk to on the journals. If you ever meet someone named Hades, don't talk to him. He's mean."
Ha, don't worry about it. <3
She adjusted her dress slightly, nodding as she did so. "That sounds great." However, her expression fell when she mentioned this Hades. "Mean? What do you mean?" she asked, putting a hand on her hip.
♥ |D
"He... he kidnapped me a few months ago and tried to use me against my father. He's ruthless and mean, so try to avoid him if you can. He doesn't come out into the open much anymore, but you should be careful. He makes appearances on the journals."
:)
Still, she nodded. This Hades fellow was clearly not someone she wanted to get involved with. "I'll keep an eye out for him. Thanks."
You must have known I was already logged in as her XD - do you want to end there?
Yuna's musings continued for a while as she tried to think of what else Tiana might need to help her get through Paixao's craziness.
XD Just getting to my replies. And sure, this is good. :)
Awesome :D ♥!
That was part of what meeting Yuna was all about. The girl never met a stranger. And as they continued on their way, she doubted she ever would.
