Sweetest Of Memories [Active]

Character(s): Naminé, Xion, Roxas, Timon, Simba, and Vyers
Content: The group goes out for ice cream!
Setting: The apartment Naminé shares with Timon, Simba, and Vyers
Time: Week 19, afternoon after they go out for lunch.
Warnings: Possible cuteness?

An argument was only to be expected between Timon and Vyers. Had it not been for their stubbornness, they all would have surly been holding ice cream in their hands and paws a lot sooner. Both appeared to have their own unique take on fashion and both had no trouble finding error in the others choice of what the Nobodies should wear during their outing. It ranged from everything to colours to simply the feel of the fabric itself. The three must have tried on at least twenty different outfits before the meerkat and demon reached an agreement on what worked best. However, even then, the two were notably unsatisfied with the results. Their gaze drifted back to the Nobodies, a look of disapproval given when they caught sight of an article of clothing they found unfit. Like those pants. They did not go with that shirt.

Timon shook his head and folded his arms across his chest. He didn’t care what Vyers said, purple had been a terrible choice. Not that there had been much of a choice, what with the demons wardrobe consisting of almost one colour. Perched on Simba’s head, his gaze travelled back down to the lion. He was glad he never had to worry about clothing him as a cub. He had been trouble enough without trying to dress him. The meerkat could only begin to imagine how well that would have gone over. Pumbaa may have agreed with him regarding his choice of the cub’s wardrobe, the only trouble would have been convincing Simba. When he had his mind set on something, talking him out of it was nearly impossible. The time the cub had decided to make like a monkey and scale the trees like one of them was an excellent example of this. The only way they had managed to get Simba to come down was purely by accident; he had fallen. Thankfully Pumbaa had been there to catch him but Timon had always known those monkeys were a terrible influence…

With a peaceful sigh the meerkat looked up and scanned the area cautiously. Since they had left the apartment he had been on constant watch to ensure that they were not being followed. He had had his suspicions earlier but at this point it had become clear that it had merely been a coincidence that a citizen had been following them for a short while. Timon looked back at the group and groaned. This desert had better of been worth the wait. He didn't understand why they could not have gotten this ice cream stuff back at the restaurant that they had just come from.

“Are we there yet? Lunch was great and all but all this walking is making me hungry again.”

Vyers had been so focused on Roxas, he almost didn't notice when he was given the ice cream. The demon stared at it absently, his buzzing thoughts slowly ebbing away for him to realize exactly what he had in his hand.

"Ah... I wanted chocolate."

Naminé thanked Xion softly for the bar of ice cream, looking at it curiously. So this was what they liked so much? She licked it experimentally, screwing up her face at the tangy taste. It wasn't bad... just very unexpected.

"It's... good."

Another lick brought a less unhappy expression. Interesting taste.

She glanced at Vyers for a moment, wondering if he would ask for a different one. "Ask for one?"

Simba payed no attention of Vyers, as he was dealing with his own ice cream problems. The ice cream was on a wooden stick like the last one, be he couldn't hold the stick (the end of which was very carefully given to him by the guy selling the stuff)and eat the ice cream at the same time, since all he had to hold it with was mouth.

He sat on his haunches and tried transferring the ice cream to his paws, but as they don't have nearly as much coordination as human hands, he dropped his on the ground after jumping when the cold ice cream touched the pads on his paw. He glared at the frozen treat on the ground. Oh, he would win this battle, ice cream!

Simba licked the ice cream that had managed to get on his paws, which wasn't a lot, so he couldn't taste it very well. Then he bent down and licked the melting lump on the ground, slowly, like Vyers said. It was cold, but he didn't get the numb mouth or the intense but brief headache, though, he wasn't sure about the taste. He licked it again, still trying to figure out if he liked it or not.

Xion fought a giggle at Timon's ridiculous outburst. "It's ok, you just ate the ice cream too fast. The headache'll go away in a minute." She munched on her ice cream, not sure what to do about the dilemma of Simba being unable to hold the stick. Still, she ventured over to at least get it off the ground. She wasn't sure if he'd want to eat it like that, though...

The same blank stare greeted Simba dropping the ice cream, and Timon's outburst hardly made Roxas smile. He seemed almost disinterested as he watched everyone else, and his ice cream started dripping onto the ground.

Vyers shook his head. "It is quite all right, mademoiselle. One should always try new things once in awhile. But thank you for your concern," he replied. He just would have liked to have been able to order for himself, considering he was the one paying. The demon stared at the bright blue ice cream in his hand for a moment before taking a small bite. He still didn't quite see what had everyone else so crazy about it, but he had to agree with Namine's observation. The ice cream really wasn't that bad.

Even if it wasn't chocolate.

As he went in for another bite, Timon's sudden scream made him jump, nearly sending the ice cream flying from his hand. He managed to regain his hold on it, however, and immediately turned to glare at the meerkat. "I warned you about that! Why do you never listen to me?!"

At least Simba seemed to have listened.

Timon's outburst made Naminé laugh very, very softly. There was just something comical in the way he was flailing around and yelling about how cold the ice cream was. And Vyers' reaction didn't help. The two of them were... funny.

But the others were what caught Naminé's attention. "Roxas? Your ice cream is melting."

Xion seemed to have Simba's ice cream in hand - literally - so she turned to Vyers and Timon. She wasn't sure Timon would want to eat his on the ground like that - and she knew how he was about money and other things - and Vyers had wanted chocolate. What was she supposed to do? What would Sora do in this situation?

...Probably buy someone another ice cream bar. But who? ... All of them? Simba, Vyers, and Timon? Just Vyers? Just Timon? Vyers and Timon? Simba and Timon? Simba and Vyers? It was enough to make her head hurt.

In the end, she just stood there licking her own ice cream to see what someone else would do.

Simba looked up to Xion and gave her a smile. "Thanks. Sometimes I wish I had monkey hands like you guys." Simba continues to slowly eat the ice cream, which he found annoying at first, but he later found the taste to be enjoyable, and it was kind of nice to eat it slowly and savor the tangy yet sweet flavor.

He laughed loudly at Timon's reaction. He remembered when he had had such a headache, and vowed never to eat ice cream again. Looks like he broke that, but hey, Hakuna Matata.

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Xion frowned at Timon- again- before looked worriedly in Roxas's direction. "Roxas?" she asked, more gently than Timon had, but that wasn't hard. He did look... out of it. He wasn't even eating his ice cream...

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
All the yelling, and the laughter, to Roxas, sounded like it was miles away. His eyes were pointing straight down at his melting ice cream, but they weren't focused on it. They weren't focused on anything.

The calls to him echoed around in his head before they finally registered. "Huh?"

...He was really bad at this today...

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2010-09-25 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Vyers didn't really mind having the sea salt ice cream as much as he was letting on. It was worth the money spent, at least, even if it hadn't been the flavor he had wanted. And it wasn't as though he couldn't go out and buy himself another ice cream, either.

Everyone's sudden attention on Roxas didn't take too long for Vyers to notice, and he blinked at the spaced-out boy. My, my, he really was out of it today, wasn't he? Vyers wondered if he might be coming down with something.

"Just be slow, Timon," Naminé murmured before she returned to her own ice cream. She was still worried about Roxas, not liking how spaced he was feeling. "Your ice cream is melting," she pointed out again, gently.

[identity profile] canfinallyroar.livejournal.com 2010-10-06 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Simba was still working on what had now become a dripping, melting mess. He did his best to keep the ice cream from dripping on Xion's hands, but he couldn't catch all of it.

Then everyone's attention went to Roxas, and Simba followed suit. It looked like his mind had flown off somewhere else and left his body behind. He chimed in to try to lighten the mood. "If you don't eat that, Roxas, I'll will. You can't let it melt like that, you know."

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Xion was worried about Roxas. A lot. Maybe this was sort of how they'd been like when they'd first joined the Organization... though if what she'd heard had merit, then Roxas was still doing better because he was talking.

Memories were so, so important. She knew that. She just hoped Roxas would be ok without them, for now.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-10-10 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"What?" Roxas looked down at his ice cream to watch a drop fall from the bar onto the pavement. "...Oh...right." He didn't make any move to take a bite, though.

He tried to let himself smile, but it didn't feel right. For some reason, even though he'd been laughing before, it was like...something was missing.

Or...maybe it was someone?

He blinked at Timon. "Hakuna...Mata...ta? What's that supposed to be?"
prismsmemory: (slightly worried // just watching)

Naminé frowned at Timon, but didn't speak up. She didn't like the way he was talking about everything, but it wasn't her place to complain. At least Roxas looked like he was snapping back to reality.

She remained silent, watching to be sure nothing was going on within Roxas' memories, either new or old. The last thing they needed was for something else to happen to them.

[identity profile] canfinallyroar.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Simba shrugged at Timon. "You have to eat it slow like Vyers said. Then it tastes pretty good." Though, by this point, Simba's tongue was going numb, but he kept on eating anyway. There wasn't much left, and before long, the ice cream was gone, and Xion was only holding the wooden stick.

He looked over at Roxas with a concerned look, but couldn't help but crack a smile at the way he said Hakuna Matata. He started humming a bit, and when he got to the desired part, he let himself sing a little.

"It means no worries
for the rest of your daaaaaaays."

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-11-01 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Xion tossed the stick in a nearby trashcan. Then... Simba started singing. Which was weird, she'd never heard a lion sing before. Actually, she'd never heard anyone sing, except Demyx, but he usually got yelled at.

She wasn't sure to make of it, honestly, focusing on the words. 'It means no worries...' That must be nice, not to worry. She didn't think she could do that, though.

Vyers couldn't help himself and let out a short, disbelieving snort. "'Calm' and 'cool?' Those are hardly the words I would use to describe one such as yourself. And while I agree that the past should not be dwelled upon too heavily, I should think the future should be thought of as well." Not that Vyers imagined Timon and Simba would listen to him, but he would still have aired his thoughts out.

He also wondered why in the world there was a song accompanying this philosophy and how exactly it came to be put into song.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-11-02 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
"Hakuna...Matata..."

Roxas was quiet for a few seconds. "...I like the sound of that." He smiled a little. It looked sad at first, bittersweet, but he looked up to Timon, and then to Simba. Seeing how carefree they were right now made him feel a little better, just a little, and his smile grew wider.

Naminé didn't understand at all what was going on. It seemed Timon and Simba knew some kind of song and they were singing to Roxas. She understood the no worries part, but... Not having a heart, she only partially understood the point. She also couldn't imagine Timon as ever having been calm and cool, but that was another point entirely.

No worries. That had to be nice. Naminé just worked on the rest of her ice cream and watched, glancing momentarily at Xion to see what she could make of it all.
