girl talk and boy beatings?

Character(s): kairi, riku, namine, gojyo
Content: kairi introduces riku to namine and gojyo, and HOPEFULLY no one gets beaten up.
Setting: haja o que houver, near vanaheim
Time: late saturday night.
Warnings: underage drinking yeah, i'm looking at you, riku!

ah, senseless girl babble. as kairi led riku towards the dining room like place, she just kept talking. over and over and over, about anything she could talk about. seeing as this was the first time she had seen riku in .. a while, she felt the need to tell him everything and anything. she talked about how she had been alone on destiny islands after sora had been sucked into the glowing portal of DOOM, and how she hadn't seen riku in so long, and she thought about maybe wearing pink clothes instead of her normal white, black and violet, and would she look good in them?

poor, poor riku.

as kairi continued to talk, she finally shut up after a while, simply humming to herself .. a random song she had heard somewhere, most likely. nearing the room, kairi peered around for her friends .. spotting them a a nearby table. she still felt bad for leaving the two of them alone .. after all, she had only met namine a few hours before, and gojyo .. well. she didn't exactly know gojyo .. so she couldn't really say anything about him .. but so far, from what she had seen with the waitress .. she didn't like it.

and now, she was bringing riku towards them. riku, who was mr. protective-you-look-at-kairi-the-wrong-way-i-kill-you. she hoped gojyo wouldn't try anything .. and she hoped riku wouldn't go out of his way to beat up the poor guy.

all though .. she did think it would be amusing ..

no, kairi. don't think such things!

anyway, moving towards her two friends, kairi rose her free arm in the air, waving to the two of them like the happy go lucky teenage girl that she was. " namine! gojyo! hey! sorry i wandered off so suddenly .. but .. i found my friend, who i haven't seen in a while! " pulling riku towards them, she smiled, and looked up at riku with that same sickly sweet smile, and then looked at her friends. " riku, this is namine " she made a hand motion towards the blonde haired girl -- " and .. gojyo " another towards him. " this is riku. he's from the same place i am .. "

ah, she was talking too much. again.

Naminé had been getting anxious. Kairi had been gone forever it seemed. Agora had come and gone twice, but as Kairi was not there they couldn't order their meals. Just when she was beginning to think she should go look for her, she saw Kairi waving from the other side of the room. By her side stood a boy with silver hair that Naminé had never seen before. She tried to force a smile for Kairi's benefit. But she could feel something strange within the boy, and it wasn’t just his eyes. She couldn't place it, nor did she really want to. They came up to the table as Kairi introduced him.

"Nice to meet you, Riku," Naminé said as politely as she could. There wasn't another chair at the table, so she quickly got up to pull one from another table, happy to have something to occupy herself with, if only for a moment.

It had been long enough since Riku had had to weather pointless chatter from Kairi that he'd actually missed it. For this reason, he did actually listen on and off as she dragged him to the dining area, even nodding or giving a thoughtful "hmm" or "Pink?" in response at appropriate intervals.

When Kairi waved, Riku took a careful look at the two people sitting at the table they were approaching.

The guy - was that a guy? Nice hair, homo - was taller than Riku would have liked, but at least he wasn't a freakishly tall punk like that jerk he'd met at the gate. Riku was confident he could take him (not that he couldn't have taken that blue-haired freak - what was it with people here and odd hair colours?) if the guy caused any problems.

And the girl...Well, well.

Not bad, he thought.

There was something vaguely...eerie about her. Ethereal. But Riku had no objections to that. He preferred brunettes, but he'd be happy to make an exception in her case.

When Kairi introduced her to him, Riku used his secret move: the cool little nod that was almost a jerk of the chin in her direction as he made and maintained eye contact, followed by casually brushing his hair back, running fingers through his bangs.

"Hey."

It worked to his advantage that he hadn't buttoned his new jacket, which conveniently gaped open, giving her a nice view of his taut abs as he did so.

When introduced to Hojo, Riku's expression went from "how YOU doin'?" to stony disdain in .02 seconds flat. He gave a curt nod in acknowledgement of the introduction and stepped forward to hold Kairi's chair for her while she sat down.

Gojyo was getting annoyed. It seemed like ever since he'd met these two young girls all they wanted to do was run in different directions. After two more tries at Agora- who still hadn't given him more than a curtious smile- the red-head had given up on a female bed-partner for the night.

But that didn't mean he wasn't still hungry. And Kairi's little trip had kept them from ordering anything. Thankfully, the waitress had at least afforded him a drink.

"Yo. 'S bout time you came back."

He said to Kairi, spareing her a little wave. As for the boy she was tugging along... He looked like a punk. One of those arrogant brats who thought they could take on the whole damn world. The half-breed glanced at him over his beer and grunted in greeting.

"Sit down before I die of starvation."

Naminé sat back down next to Kairi. She blushed a little when she realized Riku's jacket was open and averted her gaze. She was not used to that sort of... view. Looking back towards the menu, she found that she barely recognized anything on the list. She had never been given any option before, and she hardly knew what do with all the choices. She remembered Kairi's earlier comment about the pancakes and laughed softly as Kairi brought up the pancakes again.

"I guess I'll have pancakes too," she finally decided. She hadn't a clue as to how they tasted, but if Kairi liked it then maybe she would too.

To your MOM, Gojyo. Homo.

Riku could tell Kairi was annoyed by the redhead's order. Gojyo hadn't said it in a mean way, but all the same, Riku went on the defensive, shooting him a warning look as he walked around to sit down next to him, the girls having claimed one side for themselves.

When Kairi declared she wanted pancakes, Riku filched her menu to have a look for himself.

...the fuck language was this in?

Namine seemed content to order pancakes as well, clearly having faith in Kairi's understanding of whatever foreign language was on the menu to be able to tell there were pancakes. Riku was somewhat more dubious.

Also, he did not want fucking pancakes after the day he'd had. Briefly, he wondered what reaction he'd get from the staff if he ordered roast baby on a spit.

"Damn, I'm starving, too," he muttered - about the friendliest statement Gojyo was likely to get from him tonight. Riku hailed the waitress, flashing the table his chest again.

"We'll have two orders of pancakes and whatever the house special is, so long as it has MEAT."

Riku glanced over at Gojyo's mug, deciding he was close enough to the legal age to try and get away with it. No one knew him here besides Kairi, and she was unlikely to tattle on him for ordering a beer.

"And two more of whatever he's drinking."

The redhead's mug was almost empty, and he didn't look like the type of guy to stop at one.

Finished giving orders for the time being, Riku waved a hand for Gojyo to go ahead with his order.

to the obviously tasteless waitress

Gojyo merely raised a brow at the warning look the boy felt the need to shoot his way. What, did the kid suddenly think he had dominion over the whole table now?

Hakkai might have said something against someone Riku's age ordering beer, but Gojyo wasn't exactly blameless of under-age drinking. Plus, the kid just saved him the trouble of asking for a refill.

"Same as the kid. Well done- burnt if you can force the cook to do it for me."

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé watched as Kairi's enthusiasm died down, but she didn't know what to say to help her spirits. Naminé forced out a laugh at Kairi's question, "It was mostly the same thing as now." Naminé for her part had been silent while Kairi had been gone. She had been thinking far too much about the reasons for Kairi's leaving and the time that had passed that she didn't even speak to Gojyo. Another rude transgression Naminé had piled on her plate. Socializing had never been her strong point.

She was thinking too much again, and the table had once again gone silent. Just then, she heard footsteps and looked up, to see Agora coming towards the table stacked high with plates and mugs. Naminé was grateful for the interruption to the silence.

(ooc, just moving things right along... I think we fell into a rut.)

To Namine and anyone else up for a good time

[identity profile] alone-by-choice.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
As they'd waited for the food to arrive, an awkward silence had settled over the table. Kairi's attempt to remedy the situation was almost a total flop, but Riku couldn't find the energy to care. He'd never been much on words, and his eyes started to glaze over from hunger, surrounded by the smell of food with none in front of him.

When it came, he fell on his bowl like a ravenous dog teenage boy and, in spite of the fact the meat tasted questionable at best, ate it all in short order. He ate so fast, he found himself eyeing Gojyo's leftovers when he'd finished, but decided starting a fight with the other man over food was probably a bad idea.

He had at least that much fellow feeling for the man, considering he hadn't made a fuss about Riku ordering beer either.

So when his bowl was squeaky-clean, Riku sat back and sipped his beer.

He could tell it was bothering Kairi that he'd ordered some, but he could handle it. She didn't need to worry. She didn't know how he and Wakka got stoned from time to time (okay, more like once a week), so he could hardly cite that as an example why he'd be fine with just a beer. Still, HE knew, and was confident he'd be fine.

If that homo could do it, so could he.

And a little alcohol never hurt anything.

When he found himself staring at the bottom of his mug, the waitress bought another. And another after that...

By which point, Riku was smiling at everyone, and feeling pleasantly sleepy...almost jovial.

He grinned over at Namine, motioning toward her sketchpad with the beer mug that had become glued to his hand. "You draw?"

party~

Riku was lucky that he hadn't tried to take anything from Gojyo's place. Not only was the half-breed nearly starving himself, he was also experianced at defending his food from his ravenous friend, Goku.

The beer here was good. Gojyo was just starting to feel the effects of it- considering his tolerance was quite high- by the time Riku was totally smashed. Not that he minded- kid was nicer that way.

"Yeah, she was sketchin' th' waitress. Pretty damn good, too."

He commented, thinking more about Agora than Namine's drawing of her.

To Riku mostly (but to all as well)

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
It had been a slow process, one that had not been lost on her. Naminé had been eating her pancakes (Which were very good actually. Good thing she took Kairi's advice.) when she gradually noticed both boy and man getting, well, drunk. She saw the telltale signs in the many mugs coming and leaving the table. Never having been around people that were completely drunk, she didn't quite no what to do. When Riku had leaned over the table to look at her drawings she was already at the point of panic. She remembered reading about the fight or flight response on one of her many days of boredom. Too bad neither were an option to her.

She planted her feet firmly on the floor and began to inch her chair back slowly, while picking up her sketchbook and extending it in front of her. "You-can-look-at-them-if-you-want!" Her words came out in one frightened gasp. She didn't particularly want to surrender over her drawings, but it was better them than her.

One minute, Riku was looking at Namine, smiling pleasantly at the table of friends...yeah...GOOD friends around him and then...

He suddenly became very VERY tired...

His head started to sink toward the comfortable pillow of the table...

And then...he was feeling so warm and comfortable and relaxed, and then...

....

To Ansem!Riku

[identity profile] halfbreed-heart.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Gojyo's reaction was a little slow. He blinked first, the idea that Riku was acting different surfacing in his mind briefly. But it wasn't /bad/ different, the alcohol suggested to him. Yeah, maybe the kid was just coming to his senses and wanted to make nice.

A smoke! Oh, how the kappa's lungs were craving that sweet nicotine. He'd almost forgotten about how he was running low on that nessescary vice... What a great kid!

"Hell yeah."

He answered enthusiastically, getting out of his chair a little unsteadily. Red hair fell around his eyes of the same color, which shown dully with drink.

"Hell yeah."

Not Riku. She had no other name by which to call him. She had raised the sketchbook up in front of her face in a pitiful act of defense. She had felt the power flaring up in Riku until he had become Not Riku. She could almost sense Not Riku's smirk from behind her sketchbook fortress. She was trembling now and could feel the beads of sweat run down her forehead. She vaguely heard Not Riku talking to Gojyo, but her mind was in such a state of panic that she couldn't even think to warn him. But no, it wasn't just panic, it was almost as if something in Not Riku's power was dulling her mind. She wished it would stop.

Her mind cleared enough to register Not Riku's elaborate, mocking bow, before he and Gojyo walked out of the building. She lowered the sketchbook from her face, still quivering slightly. She decided to concentrate on breathing. Concentrate on the slow, steady pattern of in and out. In and out.

In.

Out.

When Kairi began to talk of the boy's 'silliness' Naminé froze. She realized that Kairi couldn't see that it was not Riku. No, that wasn't completely it she thought, looking up at Kairi's face. Kairi was trying to convince herself that nothing was wrong. Naminé bit her lip, not knowing what to say to her friend. What could she say in this case? Oh, don't worry, your friend, whom you've just met for the first time in forever, is just possessed by a dark force which is now controlling his every move! Nothing to worry about at all. Naminé mentally kicked herself. She was being cynical. That was one of her own personal responses to panic when fight or flight didn't work, which they often didn't. She hadn't been able to warn Gojyo about Not Riku, but now that she could think straight she wasn't about to let Kairi be endangered either.

So, she grabbed Kairi's hand to try and direct the girl upstairs. "Ahh, let's go to bed now, ok?" She was going to add the words "I'm sure things will be fine" but that would have been a complete lie. She was lying enough as it was.

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ahh... that is..." Naminé didn't really know what to say in response. She wasn't about to tell Kairi that she feared Gojyo would never be coming back. She just smiled weakly. "Yes, we can do that." And sleeping next to someone would bring her comfort. The shadows were already beginning to creep on them as the lights went out in Paixao.

She led Kairi upstairs to their room. As she walked in she noticed the bathroom door was ajar. Peeking in, she saw a cracked mirror, its center spotted red. She tried to convince herself it wasn't Gojyo's blood. She quickly closed the door and turned back to Kairi. "I think the toilet here is broken... we'll have to use the hotel's one downstairs." She hoped she sounded convincing enough for Kairi to not want look in. Ah, she told another lie, didn't she?

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé let out a sigh of relief when Kairi didn't push the issue and flopped down next to her. She picked at the bedspread, not yet able to go to sleep. After seeing the bathroom some of her worst fears had been realized. She just hoped that Gojyo was alright. She turned over on her side, away from Kairi. She didn't want Kairi to see the worry on her face that she was trying so hard to conceal.

[identity profile] halfbreed-heart.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The door swung aside suddenly, revealing the tired red-head as he entered the room. He did not look at Kairi or Namine- he didn't even seem to notice they were t here. Gauze was wrapped around one hand and he was wearing light blue pajama bottoms. The collar of his brown jacket was pushed up high, hiding his neck.

Without saying anything, he approached the bed and laid down.

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé slowly sat up on the bed. She didn't like the feeling she got from Gojyo. It felt like Not Riku was there in the room with them. And she could feel it concentrated around Gojyo's neck. "Gojyo?" she said, getting up to touch his arm. Her eyes opened wide. What was...?

...

She was going to vomit.

to namine and kairi

[identity profile] halfbreed-heart.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Gojyo didn't even stir when Kairi jumped out of bed and started asking questions in a worried tone. He remained silent until he felt Naimine's fingers on his arm.

With a sudden snarl, the half-breed smacked her hand away, whirling to face the two girls.

"Nothing happened. I'm fine."

He hissed softly.

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He had slapped her hand away, which was good because she found she couldn't move her it away herself. Naminé dimly registered Kairi stand in front of her. She was shouting something. Yes, that was it. The floor was beginning to look very, very close, but before she came down upon it her foot went forward; she was walking to the bathroom. She had forgotten her previous conversation to Kairi about the toilet supposedly being broken. The door opened-no, she opened it; that was her hand. Cool, cool tile on her knees; the brim of the toilet under her hands.

She emptied the contents of her stomach. She let herself slide down the side of the bowl until she hit the floor. Oh, sweet, sweet tile. After a moment she realized that tile was not a good place for sleeping, no matter how cool it felt against her skin. She picked herself up and floated out of the bathroom, letting herself fall face-first into the pillow of her bed. To sleep is to forget...

She hadn't wanted to see that. She didn't want to know.

to Kairi

[identity profile] halfbreed-heart.livejournal.com 2006-01-24 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Gojyo looked hardly phased by Kairi's outburst. He stared at her dully, eyes half hidden by a curtain of red hair.

"I'll kill him."

Was his answer, the fingers of his good hand curling into a shaking fist.

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé was not in a right state of mind. Nor was she in a left. She was in an out of mind state, which left her body to think for itself, which it was quite incapable of doing. Her body's first bright idea was to laugh into the pillow. It turned into a muffled sound, so she grasped the headboard, pulling herself back up.

"It was Not Riku," was her only comment to the conversation. Of course, her body had no idea that her friends would only grasp half the meaning. They had no idea about the names she had come up with in her head. Had she been thinking straight, she would have known this. But she wasn't, and so that was what she said.

[identity profile] halfbreed-heart.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Gojyo looked away, absently touching his throat with his fingers. They brushed against the leather of the collar... The brand- that he found he could not remove- that marked him. As if it wasn't enough to be a half-breed, taboo on both sides, now he had another clear representation of his shame hanging around his neck.

"No... But I'll find him. I'm leaving tomorrow."

He growled softly, unable to look at Kairi.

[identity profile] namine.livejournal.com 2006-01-25 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé rested back down into her pillow. Despite Kairi's hesitant responce, she knew that Kairi understood as well as she did that it was Not Riku. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Gojyo fiddle with something on his throat. Naminé's mind was not there to help her see clearly, so she couldn't understand why Gojyo was going to find Not Riku. Why, he was right there around Gojyo's neck. She sighed. She didn't want to think about such things anymore. Anything of such. So she closed her eyes and thought of nothing.
