Skin Deep [Active, Open]
Character(s): Ursula as Vanessa, open
Content: Ursula sees what she can find when in disguise.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca
Time: Week 19, dusk
Warnings: Subterfuge!
If it was one thing Ursula understood, it was people. And people, well, they could be shallow. They trusted beauty more than their own instincts more often than not, for if someone was beautiful and seemed kind and sweet, how could they possibly have any dark intentions? And while the sea witch considered herself a beauty in her own way, she wasn't stupid; she knew quite well the affect her appearance had on people. Usually, she'd work the fear and horror to her advantage, throw people off their game.
But now it was time for a different tactic.
She'd already made her presence known in her true form. Unsurprisingly, there were quite a few who immediately distrusted her (that keybearing brat and his friends hadn't helped matters, to say nothing of Triton's daughter). So Ursula had spent the better part of the day collecting what spell ingredients she could and bringing them back to her makeshift lair outside the city. It had taken more time to adapt a certain spell to the current circumstances, but she always had a natural aptitude for magic and, before long, the spell was competed.
Ursula was now disguised as a beautiful human woman; pale, fresh skin replaced weathered lavender and slick black, her hair became long, thick and dark, glossy in the light. Her face had a noble, classic beauty that would appeal to the most people. She was clothed in a purple corset and a full, flowing periwinkle dress that bared her graceful arms. The only similarity to the sea witch's true appearance was the seashell necklace she still wore...and the color of her eyes, which was the purple-grey of a tumultuous stormy sky.
She made her way into the city, smiling sweetly at the few townspeople who glanced her way. Before long, she was in the city's park, the false sun setting, a calm, warm breeze stirring the false trees.

The Hylian made his way back to the park, as it was the place most like the forest he grew up in, and thus, a little more homey in his eyes. Despite the fake plants and such, he still liked it. It was when he entered that he noticed a rather beautiful young woman. Now, Link was not sexist, but most women dressed as her tended not to be the strongest of people, and although he had yet to run into one, there was sure to be bad people running around here. He slowly approached her. "Do you need any help?"
no subject
Wide eyes glimmering, she placed her hand to her heart, smiling sheepishly. "You startled me, sir." She stepped closer, lifting the hem of her skirt so she wouldn't trip. "Would you happen to know where I am?" She blushed, a charming, pale pink tinting her cheeks. "I...I seem to have lost my way."
no subject
"If you'd like, we could look around together, though I still don't know my way around." He started, realizing that he had yet to introduce himself. "I'm Link by the way. What's your name?"
no subject
"O-oh, my name is Vanessa," she replied quickly, thinking back on the gestures and movements of younger, silly-headed girls. She giggled nervously, stepping closer. Should she take his arm? No, no, don't lay it on too think. "Thank you for helping me, Link." She glanced away, appearing a bit troubled.
"It helps to know...I'm not the only one in this predicament."
no subject
"No problem." Link gave Vanessa an encouraging smile. "I think there are a lot of people in the same boat as us, but it helps to find a friend."
There was one problem with this situation. Where were they going? Link thought it best to find someone in office in Paixao, but he didn't know who was in charge here, not to mention knowing where to find that person. In the end, Link came up with another idea. "Maybe we should find a place where we can sit and find out where we want to go." There was no use running around town and wasting energy on nothing.

Moving towards it, she lifted the hem of her skirt, long dark hair stirred from the movement. Her back to Link, he didn't see the small, satisfied smile transforming her face from innocence to smug calculation.

He shifted the sword and shield on his back so he would be more comfortable sitting on the bench in the gazebo. As for Link, he had yet to find any shelter, though he didn't see the reason for it since he was under a dome. His wallet was still fairly full, but he knew it wouldn't last that way forever. He did see some shops accepting the jewels that 'grew' on the trees, and he had made a mental note to do the same should the situation present himself and he had to pay for something. He looked over at Vanessa. "I don't know about where you could find a place to stay, but I found some places selling food."
no subject
"Will you tell me about your world, Link? Where do you come from? Is there...is there anything you're missing?" She clasped her hands over her heart, ducking her head sadly. "I've lived such a narrow, quiet life before now...it amazes me that there are entirely new worlds I've never heard of."
no subject
"I'm from Hyrule. It used to be a beautiful place, but right now, it's ruled by Ganondorf. I was helping to make things right again, but I got stuck here. I've been trying to find a way back..." His voice drifted off. He really didn't have the time to help anyone else here, but Vanessa had looked so lost. He couldn't just leave her where someone could take advantage of her.
no subject
"I'm sorry. You must be hurting, knowing that every minute you're here, your world is..." she trailed off, looking down again to hide the apparent pain in her eyes. "We...we mustn't delay any longer! There must be a way for you to return home, Link!" she said, standing up with this passionate exclamation.
"Is there anything I can do to help you?"
no subject
Link was glad that he finally found someone who cared about his dilemma, but he really didn't know how she could help. "I don't know. Do you know a way back to Hyrule?" He really wasn't expecting her to know, but that was really the only way she could help him at the moment.
no subject
She let her shoulders slump a bit and looked down at her dainty feet. "...I'm sorry. I don't. I can't even go back to my own world..." She sighed softly, moving to sit again on the bench, avoiding Link's eyes.
"If only there was some kind of magical power on our side." Ursula glanced sidelong at him. "Do...do you have any sort of special power? I've noticed your ears..."
no subject
"I can do a few spells, but nothing to get me back to Hyrule." Din's Fire surly wouldn't work, and neither would Farore's Wind, as he hadn't set up a spot to warp to. He had tried warping via the Ocarina of Time, but that didn't work either. His other abilities weren't magical at all, and were also useless in this matter.
"There has to be someone in the city who has to know. How else would we get here?" If you could get in someplace, then it was highly likely that there was way back out.
no subject
"I've heard of someone who might have the power to bring you back home! They call her the Sea Witch..." She paused dramatically, adding a touch of fear to her expression as she glanced around their surroundings as if afraid someone would overhear. "She's rather frightening, but very powerful. I heard she only does her work at night, outside the city by the coat." Ursula made her hand flutter nervously over her throat, her skin paling slightly.
"No, no...never mind! It's too dangerous, I'm certain now..."
no subject
"Do you think she can send me back to Hyrule?" Just because she was powerful didn't mean she had the ability to do so. Her powers could be in other places.
Link grabbed Vanessa's wrist. It was more to gain her attention than anything, and he did his best not to grip too hard or hurt her in any way. "Please, tell me what you know about her. I need to find a way back home."
no subject
"I'm afraid I really don't know much....she lives in the ocean surrounding this place. Th-there's a torch on the coast outside of Niflheim. You have to follow the river out to find it." She finally made eye-contact with him again, lip quivering. "She's been said to have the ability to travel through worlds, but...is it really worth the risk, Link? Can't you just stay here?"
It was a risky move on her part; what if he was more cowardly than he seemed and took her up on her offer? But, no...he had the self-sacrificing hero vibe all over him. They always made the best shills.
