Cookies for Laharl [Active]
Character(s): Laharl and Kairi
Content: Kairi brings Laharl cookies!
Setting: Actua Are near Central Station/Cid's Shop
Time: Early evening
Warnings: Again, it's Kairi.
Well, that had been a rather strange conversation. He wasn't sure what to make of it exactly, but he was getting cookies out of it, so he wasn't complaining or anything. It was funny he'd never picked up Kairi's name. At least, he couldn't remember ever hearing it. If he had it had long since slipped his mind, although he did recall calling her a Love Freak at some point. He didn't think he was still far from the mark. Nothing like Flonne, of course, but still...
The Overlord was perched on the front steps of the hotel, just beneath the porch overhang. He was glad for the storms. The rain and thunder suited his mood perfectly. Flonne was off baking a cake or whatever she'd ended up doing, while Etna was hopefully keeping an eye on her. Meanwhile, he was here, pretending to not be moping.
It's not that he didn't feel guilty. He knew he did. It was gnawing at him, deep down. It wasn't as easy to brush away as it once had. Laharl didn't like hurting her, but... he felt like it was for the best. If he wasn't so close to her he shouldn't feel as bad if she went and vanished again, right? Not to mention it would hopefully make her less a target. At least, that's what he hoped for.
Still, he felt bad that he was just sitting here, instead of keeping an eye on her, but he was sure Etna would let him know if something happened. ...Right?
Ergh, if this was the right decision, why was it making him feel so crappy? Laharl had no idea.

hey there little miss riding hood~
When she finished, she wrote a quick note and left it out for Riku and Sora, explaining that she was off visiting another friend of hers, and left some extra sugar cookies covered on the table besides it for them.
Grabbing a dark crimson cloak to shield her from the storm outside, and a basket to protect her freshly made cookies, she made it out to the nearby train station and caught her ride over to the Actua Are.
And at long last, she finds herself heading nearby, catching sight of only one person sitting outside. Well, that must be him, right? They'd never actually met face to face, she realizes.
"Laharl?" she asks, stepping closer.

Though he'd never met Kairi face to face, he did faintly recognize her face from the journals, and more so her voice. They'd spoken at least a few times over the, ugh, year he'd been here.
"Yeah. That's me," he replied, straightening a bit as he looked up at her. "Kairi, right?" he added, testing if he was pronouncing it right.
So, she really had baked him cookies then? Huh. That was pretty quick. Well, all things considering anyways. Ugh, he was getting more patient lately too, wasn't he? Waiting ten minutes for food once wouldn't have been good enough. Dammit. When had this happened?!

"So, I baked you sugar cookies, since I figured... you can't really go wrong with them, right?" She chuckles softly. "And I promise, there's no poison in them."
no subject
"It's not poison in them I'm worried about," Laharl added, as he rose to his feet. Clearly Kairi had never had any cooking that was so bad it might as well have been poison, or she wouldn't be saying that.

No wonder.
Unfortunately for him, Kairi wasn't about to help his act. The hair! The scarf! The ears and eyes! She couldn't help herself, he was simply adorable! So, without even thinking of personal boundaries or what he could do to her, she reaches out and pats a hand into his hair. "You're so cute!" She prods gently at an antennae.

Laharl's expression was a little surprised and a lot exasperated as he felt his head being patted and his hair touched.
"No. I'm not 'cute'," Laharl replied, almost deadpan, as exasperation shifted to a half lidded glare. Lifting a hand, he attempted to swat away the hand assaulting his hair.

He was the perfect show of a demon overlord. Still, she hasn't quite learned any better, and noticing a piece of hair straying up from her handiwork, she reaches out her hand lightning-quick to pat it back down.
Then she smiles even wider than before. "They're still warm," she says, holding up the basket.
no subject
If she wasn't holding up a basket of cookies, he might have been feeling less agreeable. "Hn. Well, let me see one then," he requested, holding out his hand expectantly.

After that, all she could do was wait.
no subject
Cautiously he took a bite and... it was good! Delicious even! Sweet but not too sweet! Just the right crunchy and even melted just a bit in his mouth.
His expression brightened considerably as the rest of the cookie was promptly devoured.
no subject
He liked it! She holds out the rest of the basket for him. "See, I told you they'd be fine. They're all yours, so help yourself."
no subject
Still, his concerns had been valid, dammit!

Kairi's question, however, caught him a little off guard. "Huh? Cookies? ...No. I don't know how to cook. I don't need to know how to."
Anything Laharl had ever possibly want would be brought to him by the castle servants. Knowing how to cook wasn't needed.
