First Spell
Character(s): Jade, anybody who happens to be there can bug him
Content: Jade is just around the gate, and has...no idea what is going on.
Setting: Muspelheim gate
Time: Evening
Warnings: Teasing galore, possible language on the other characters' part?
Jade blinked as he took in his surroundings, instantly on the alert when he wasn’t at the inn he and his companions were. The tall stone halls were light, but looked both old and new. Above him there was a high dome, made of the same substance. Yet, as he stared up at it, he noticed that there were paintings upon the faces of the rock. They depicted angels in multiple situations, although most were playful and cheerful.
He looked away from the ceiling, and adjusted his glasses. The lights that illuminated the names of shops were starting to burn his retinas with their bright colors. He frowned a little at them, placing his hands inside his pockets. Jade raised an eyebrow when a random, blond-haired, blue-eyed man walked up to him.
"Name?" the man sounded...well...boring. He somehow managed to bore Jade just by saying that one thing. The colonel sighed, and tilted his head a little.
"Jade Curtiss," he replied, not quite sure as to whether he should disclose anything other than that. After all, Jade had no idea where he was, really. The blond nodded before shoving a green...thing into his hands. It looked pocket-sized, and there was a gap that told him he could open it. Jade was about to ask him a question, but he had already moved on to another person who looked...almost exactly like him. The colonel sighed.
"I have a feeling this is just going to be tons of fun," Jade muttered to himself sarcastically.

She had also looked around for food, but couldn't find money. It wasn't until late afternoon that she realized that people were taking things like the branches of the fake trees and using them for currency. Toph imitated them, and managed to get food at a place called Jountenheim’s Cheap Eats. She brought the food back with her, where she felt and heard the new-comer as he entered the gate.
"Oh, it's fun alright." She approached the man. "Watch out for the crazies. I had my share of them earlier today."
Sorry I was late!
"Indeed? Well, I'm used to working and fighting 'crazies,' but I thank you all the same for the warning," he told her in a cheerful tone of voice, his trademark smile in place. Tapping the small device the colonel had been given, he felt that she could probably tell him what it was. "This is a strange piece of technology. Do you know what it does?"
Asking was a lot easier than figuring it out, and who said that old men weren't allowed to be a little lazy every now and then?
It's ok! I'm slow sometimes too! <3
She wished that she could have run into someone who knew about the weird square thingy she was given, but she'd just have to wait. "You haven't seen a little bald kid running around here, have you?" She had yet to find her friends, and it didn't hurt to ask. This guy seemed a lot more sane than that Master person she ran into earlier.
We'll slowly join the slow club! :D
Yet, that question also gave him another. He wondered if the others were in this place or not. Jade glanced down at the girl, wondering just how patient she was with questions. There was only one way to find out.
"Have you seen anyone with short, red hair, green eyes, a little depressed about who he is, very hard on himself, and a tad quick to anger?" the colonel asked politely and in a cheerful voice, "Also...where is here, anyway?"

As for his other question...
"I don't know where this place is either. Last time I checked, I was sleeping in a cave on some island in the Fire Nation, and I wake up just outside that gate!" Toph pointed to Muspelheim gate. "I have no idea where my friends went off to, and while I look for them, I run into this really crazy guy!"
LOL That face! One of many reasons I love Toph! XD
"Crazy guy? Can you describe his personality, other than as crazy?" he asked her, wondering if it was someone he knew. There were quite a few crazy men on his world, after all. Then he remembered: manners were important in society.
"Pardon me for my rudeness. My name is Jade Curtiss. May I ask what your name is?"

Toph munched on the last of her meal. What were they called? French fries? Whatever. They were pretty tasty. "I'm Toph." She paused for a second, debating to ask her own questions or not. She decided it wouldn't hurt. "So, you're not from the Fire Nation are you?" I doesn't hurt to ask.

Jade had a feeling he would run into this a lot.
"...Fire Nation? I'm afraid I have never heard of such a country."
Hey, he might as well be honest.

If he wasn't joking (which he wasn't, as Toph could feel it) then at least Toph didn't have to worry about him trying to either kill her or capture her. "Well, where are you from then?"
no subject
"I'm a colonel from Malkuth, on Auldrant."
no subject
"Ok, Mr. Fancypants. I've got a long day tomorrow, so if you'll excuse me, I'm going to find a place to bed down." Toph threw the trash from her meal to the ground, walked a few paces, then set up her earth tent and crawled inside. "I heard there were some hotels around here, but I don't know how someone like you would want to pay for it."
