“We’ll go together”
Sora had thought that door to the light that had appeared would have led him and Riku home to the islands. Not drop him off in some unfamiliar city. He tried to ask the gatekeeper what was going on, but he didn't seem to be willing to answer. Of course, it wasn’t the first time Sora had found himself on a mysterious new world. And these kinda things tended to happen to him for a reason. Maybe he wasn’t able to be home with his friends, but if Sora was needed on this world, he couldn’t ignore whatever problem it was.

“Hey, Riku, what do you think of this pla--” Sora cut himself off when he realized that Riku wasn’t anywhere to be found. Which didn‘t make any sense, because Riku had been right next to him when he went through that door. “Riku?!” He called, as he searched around for his friend. Sora had spent barely a day with Riku, and the universe was separating them again? That just wasn’t fair, not after all that time it took for him to find Riku.

Whatever was going on in this world. Whatever drew him too it, that would have to wait right now. Riku had to be somewhere in this city too, and Sora was gonna find him. He’d done it before and he could do it again. So Sora ran off towards where the most people were gathered, in hopes of getting information.

A few more replies on the board and Riku would be ready to start the scouting party. Traveling through the Destiny Islands would be nice enough, but he knew he couldn’t stop and smell the sea breeze for too long. Besides, he already had an important reminder of home: Kairi. To say he was relieved to have a friend here was an understatement, since this time through, the king wasn’t there to back him.

In the meantime, Riku had gone off to satisfy his curiosity. The only advantage he ever found to getting off the Islands was to stretch his legs as it were, but it had come at all-too-great a price. Unable to undo what had happened, he simply lived with it. Riku slung backpack he’d bought over a shoulder, now filled with enough supplies to accommodate anyone who was joining the exploration team..

And he almost dropped it at a familiar sight.

A little more than a week later, there was Sora, walking in through a gate with probably the same look on his face as his best friend had. Riku walked up with his head turned slightly. Castle Oblivion was all about illusions after all.

“...Sora?!”

Oblivious. As always. Not that Riku really expected Sora to know what was going on. He was learning too, after all. He heaved a very abbreviated sigh and smiled, glad to know where both Kairi AND Sora were now. The older teen slid his other arm through the remaining backback strap and crossed his arms. His smile faded with the reality of the situation everyone was in.

"Castle Oblivion is going on," Riku replied flatly. "Took you long enough to get here." Looking up at the entrance Sora just came from, he watched the new arrivals come in.

"Welcome to Paixao. It's one of the castle's floors. And I don't know how, but there are a lot of Organization members still kicking."

"About a week. Kairi's here too." Riku leaned his shoulder against a lamp post, catching the look on Sora's face. "The castle's a stronghold for the Organization. Or was before we defeated the members staying there. Long story short, each floor is formed by someone's memories. For the most part, they were yours. But along the way, yours got messed up and Namine had to undo the new memories to fix the old ones. So no, you wouldn't remember it."

"We did. I don't get this, either. But they're still kicking. And we're playing around in their cage right now."

"Yeah. You got it." Riku looked straight at Sora. "We will, but that's not as easy as it seems. A lot of people are trapped here, not just us." He sighed heavily through his nose with the burden of the job ahead.

His expression became all the more grave. "And you said you wanted to meet Roxas?" Riku raised an eyebrow.

"Exactly. But it does complicate things."

Riku closed his eyes and shook his head, thumbing over his shoulder. "Not here in Paixao. I've already met him."

Riku gave Sora an odd look. "...Yeah. Trying to get them all out? Hostages? You name it?"

"You got me," he shrugged. For a moment he looked like he had his mind elsewhere. "But you really should meet him." This time.

Riku shrugged a bit at Sora's reply about Roxas and turned. "C'mon. Even when you're stuck someplace bad as this, you gotta have a place to stay." He motioned with his head and began to walk. "Kairi let me sleep on her couch until I got my own place. You can crash on mine for a while."

Riku smiled back at his friend. "Sure thing." He sighed. "With all of us here, I bet it's just a matter of time till we get to sleep in our own beds again."
