Just a walk in the park (Active / Open)
Character(s): Grace, Sara, anyone?
Content: Grace is looking for a permanent residence
Setting: Streets? TBA
Time: Afternoonish
Warnings: Avatar spoilers and Grace's mouth
This was not really Grace's day. She'd been looking for what felt like ages for an apartment to live in. But nothing seemed to quite work out. Still, she was determined not to spend another day as Braska's guest, no matter how nice he was. He'd been kind enough to offer her a place to stay and as much help as could be expected, but with her Avatar and human forms both here, Grace wanted somewhere she knew would be safe. It was a control issue.
So, that brought her to the middle of the city as she tried to ask the few people who would actually speak to a nine-foot-tall blue thing where the best apartments were. Some would answer and some wouldn't, she knew. It had been a long time since she'd been near humans who didn't know what Na'vi were, but she hadn't forgotten what their basic nature was like. So she was prepared to be stared at. Still, that wouldn't stop her from trying.

Pushing off the wall she was leaning against, she walked over to where the other woman was standing. Sticking her hands into her pockets, she looked nonchalant, as if she was talking to someone from home. Sure, this 'person' looked different to her, but heck, didn't half the people she met in this city?
"Excuse me." Sara said, trying to get the other person's attention, without being totally rude.
no subject
"Yes?" she prompted, wondering if this woman had heard her inquiry and would be able to help her. Either that or she was interested in the Avatar body, which would mean she'd need to act like a Na'vi. Not that she wasn't already trying to do that.
no subject
"Now, I have to ask, you're not from around here, are you?" The answer was obvious, but she wanted to get all the facts straight first. Then they could go hunting for residences.

"It's not prying if I'm the one making my search known," Grace answered easily. "I'm looking for a relatively nice place, small but big enough for two people, with doors that lock well."
The locks were something she definitely required. The rest could be juggled.
"I'm not, but I get the feeling not many are. Looks like a melting pot around here, if anything."
no subject
"Any preference on locations? I know of a couple of places people can stay, all doors come with basic locks but they can be added to, I'm sure." At the next comment, she shrugged.
"Not many, and we all stick out like sore thumbs. Everyone who lives here is blond and blue eyed. We're all...different, to put it mildly."
no subject
"Not really. As long as the doors can be locked, I'll be fine."
Because she couldn't have someone trying to come in to steal, maim, or otherwise injure either body while the other was gone. Particularly her human one. If that one met a blade or some other weapon, it would be bad. Eywa hadn't granted her a second life just for her to lose it here.
"Even more so if you're a nine-foot-tall Na'vi," Grace mused. "Bet they don't see many of that around."
no subject
"I think we can find something. But, you're going to need this." She nodded towards the branch. "You find anything shiny, you can use it as currency. So, pretty much any of the so-called plant life in here."
no subject
"What do you mean 'so-called?'" she asked, eying the other woman. "And what the hell kind of place runs off plant branches?"
no subject
"Most of the life here is made of plastic or fabric, unless we're talking about the people. Of course, their 'alive' status could be debated as well." She muttered the last part of her statement, but it was probably loud enough that the other woman could hear.
no subject
She glanced at the branch she now held and then back at the other woman. The words rang clearly and made Grace wonder what exactly this place, planet, whatever it was, was capable of.
"Considering I was half-dead when I got here, I can't say I'm very surprised. It's like Eywa and whatever other deities exist decided to completely demolish the normal concepts." This from a woman who'd arrived nearly dead and had just been introduced both to the Pandoran deity as well as magic all in the same damn day. This didn't mean she was willing to accept it all, but she could gloss over it for now.
"All right, so I have... currency." Grace gave the branch an odd look. "Where are the good places?"
She'd thank the woman later. A Na'vi would do it now, but Grace just wasn't that considerate.

"Actua Are hotels are ok, there are some condos and townhouses near Musphelheim, those are nicer, but more spendy."
no subject
Despite focusing on her strides, the words the other woman was speaking were more than a little strange for Grace to hear. "That is the strangest thing I have ever heard," she muttered, perfectly loud enough for her companion to overhear. "And that includes all the talk about the Pandoran ecosystem, Eywa, and 'magic.'"
This whole thing was odd.
"If the currency literally grows on trees out here, I'll take the nicer townhouse set-up. Sounds like it might be a little more hospitable."
no subject
"The townhouses are near Musphelheim, so not too far from here, I don't think." She casually stuck her hands in her pockets, ready for the walk.
"You know, I never think I caught your name, I'm Sara."
no subject
She watched as the other woman consulted a map on her communication device and made a mental note to try that out with hers later. Maybe those things would be useful. The branch still felt odd in her hands, but at least it had a little familiarity to it, though it made her miss the variety on Pandora. Nothing glowed here like those plants did.
"Sounds fantastic," she commented in response to the part about nobody knowing anything about this place. "You get dragged out to the middle of nowhere and no one can tell you anything about it."
Grace kept up easily. "That's fine. I don't mind a walk." Which was true. After traipsing all over the planet of Pandora, Grace had gotten used to getting her exercise.
The question of names was something she'd been hoping to address later on, but she supposed she should have expected it sooner rather than later. Her mind turned over the Navi language in the blink of an eye, stopping on one word, the first one she thought of. "Tirea. Means 'spirit' in Na'vi."
Eywa must really have a sense of humor to make that word the first Grace thought of. She rolled her eyes again.
no subject
"I hate this place. And it keeps getting stranger and stranger." She stuck her hands in her pockets and mused on the city, it's inhabitants, and it's knack for pulling random people in.
She looked over and up at the taller woman. "Pretty name." She didn't know how to politely bring up where 'Na'vi' 'Ewya' and 'Pandora' came from, or what they meant.
no subject
Grace wanted to know as much as she could about everything here, especially if she was going to end up here for a while. "Sounds like you've been here a while," she commented casually. "Are you the town's spokesperson or just a well-informed citizen?"
Much as she didn't want to give away all of the Na'vi's secrets, she was willing to talk about what she knew in order to appear as though she was a native Na'vi, instead of a walking scientific combination of technology and nature. She wasn't one to give many thanks, but the slightly less annoyed look on her face would show that she wasn't ignoring the other woman's words. Maybe later, they could talk further on the subject.
no subject
She thought a moment about answering the original questions. "Well, there's a group called the 'Organization' or something like that. They're not the best people, from what I've heard...and experienced." She'd provide details if the other woman wanted, but her time in the Organization's hands wasn't something she really liked to talk about.
no subject
The branch was turned over in her hands as she thought about what was being told to her. It sounded like a load of bullshit and crap to her. "Sounds like the time of your life. I admit, I'm curious as to what they do or are rumored to do."
She wouldn't push this issue, but Grace couldn't help wanting to know what the woman would offer.
