Shantotto Leads the Way [Active]

Character(s): Shantotto and anyone else who wants to come along :D
Content: Shan gets impatient of waiting on others, and decides to lead a group herself to St. Destino and beyond o/
Setting: Niflheim gate at first.
Time: Starting a bit before 8am.
Warnings: Rhyming. Lots of it.

Originally she was ready to be content with going with the group that had been forming, but it seemed there'd been some holdup, and nothing had progressed. Doctor Shantotto had better things to do than wait on others, however some company was preferable, as they could potentially prove to be rather useful, in the long run. Well, they could be providing any of them showed up.

Shantotto had arrived at the gate a few minutes before the appointed meeting time. Giving herself a few minutes to see what would be in order to get past the gate guards. It seemed it would be quite simple, with them all clustered together as they were. A sleepga spell would easily put the whole lot to sleep, the guard at the counter included, allowing them an easy escape from the city.

To be quite honest, Priere still didn't really know much of what was going on around here. She pretty new in the city, but from what she's been reading, she arrived right in the good part. She really wasn't one to just sit there and stay trapped in town, so news of a way out, or at least some clues, was just what she needed. Okay, so she did feel bad about those who had been stuck here longer then her, but sucks to be them. She wasn't about to just sit on the sidelines just because she had better timing.

So she arrived at the meeting place the woman on the board had specified, still half asleep (8 AM was waaaaaay too early). She barely noticed her, considering she really hadn't expected that the one who had called for this group to form was a little kid. Really? She looked even younger then her little brother! There had to be a mistake somewhere...

"Uhh, hey," she lazily said, trying to hide her disappointment. After all, you shouldn't judge someone's power on how they looked... or whatever Alouette said.

Yuna had been getting really bored lately and that was mainly why she'd agreed to come along on this expedition... that and she wanted to know more about this place. It was reminding her of Bevelle in all the wrong ways, with all its secrets and hidden things, and she didn't like not knowing things. So she resolved to fix that and walked her way to the meeting place.

Fortunately she wasn't late, so not many people had arrived when she got there. Today, she was dressed in her Gun Mage dressphere, though her other choices were always within close reach. Smiling around, she waved a little.

"Hello. I'm Yuna. You're here for the exploration, right?"

It was early, but Shoaneb was used to rising at or before dawn for meditation, training, and study. And she was intrigued--to say the least--about the exploration. Shoaneb had explored the city on foot since her arrival and had become familiar with it, if not comfortable. She hadn't found either Dace or Qrrrl, to her dismay, nor had she been able to find out what had happened after her death.

Any deeper clues about this city, how she'd arrived here, and what direction she should go in next were something she was quite eager to find.

She 'saw' three people as she approached the gate: a diminutive woman of a species that Shoaneb didn't recognize and two young Human females. There was a sense of power to each of them, but it wasn't the Force... in fact it wasn't something Shoaneb had ever seen before. "Hello," she said, giving them a small but respectful bow. "I am Shoneb Culu."

It was curiosity that had driven Gabranth out here. That and no more. He had little interest in staying in a place such as this overlong, and it would certainly be good to see what else there was beyond the town. He'd mentioned none of this though. There was no need, he figured. He was well used to waking up at such an early hour and he doubted his presence would be discouraged. Who would turn down a man so armored?

He did not, however, bother to give his name as he arrived. If they knew it not (and the most likely didn't) that was just fine by him.

Well, this was shaping up to be the weirdest group she's ever been in... the rhyming just being the icing on the cake. She was doing that on purpose right? "Uhh, right. I'm called Priere, nice to meet you," she said quickly, realizing she hadn't introduced herself yet.

Before she could say anything else however, the guards just fell asleep right here and now. Oookay, kid or not, annoying her just might not a good idea. Oh well, at least the path was clear then.

"So, where exactly are we going now?"

If Yuna could hear Priere's thoughts, she would have agreed. As it was, the child who sounded much more like an adult started them off and Yuna was distracted. Hm, maybe Gun Mage wouldn't be the best option. Maybe Songstress for support? One hand reached into her pouch and slid the dresspheres around until she decided on one. She didn't change them just yet, preferring to wait to find out what they would run into first.

And at least Priere asked the question that was on Yuna's mind. The former summoner listened carefully, gauging danger levels as she did so.

Shoaneb raised an unseen eyebrow at the diminutive woman's unusual speaking style--perhaps the rhyme had been a coincidence, or perhaps it was a quirk of her species. That eyebrow rose higher at the surge of power as the woman proceeded to render the gate guards unconscious. The corners of Shoaneb's mouth turned down slightly as well, but otherwise there was no visible sign of concern from her. The unfamiliar but unmistakable power troubled her--it was another reminder that this place was utterly alien.

She also noted Yuna going through her equipment pouch, wondering what she was adjusting. As for herself, Shoaneb tried to be confident that the Force and her lightsaber could see them through the situation, but she wasn't about to let her guard down. The man in armor hadn't spoken a word, and she had very little idea of the true intentions of these people. She felt as though Yuna and Priere were not evil people, but the man and the woman were more difficult to read.

"I believe I missed your names," Shoaneb said to the two of them, not in a whisper but keeping her voice low in case the guards awoke.

An odd group. But the possibility behind it was well worth the effort. If it meant following a strange woman who spoke in rhyme, so be it. He'd been in this city for far too long, and wished to return to more familiar lands. As for the spell that put the guards to sleep, he barely blinked an eye at that - not that anyone could tell, with the helm he wore.

"I am but a man," he answered simply, voice echoing hollowly in the helm. "A man who would return to the lands he once knew, should such even be possible."

There was nothing to keep him here, so there was no real reason to mention either title or name. No one here would be familiar with either.

"Island paradise? That's a bit fancier then the random places we usually end up in," Priere muttered, mostly to herself as she started following the doctor. Hmm, maybe if it's not too dangerous, they could go back for said 'vacation'. Well, that would depend on what they find there in the first place.

However, she did stare at the strange man in the armor for a bit, silently telling him to knock it off. Not that she wanted to start raising suspicions around their group already, but come on. What the heck did he have to hide exactly?

Anyway, this wasn't very important at the moment. Heading towards their destination, she whipped out her baton just in case someone or something decided to get the jump on them. After all, you can't just rely on sleep spells to get around.
sumofallfayth: (dressphere change in a swirl of light)

[personal profile] sumofallfayth 2010-01-08 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yuna blinked at her companions, most especially the tiny doctor. She couldn't imagine someone so small being a doctor, but she supposed she shouldn't be surprised. Look at herself. People could do strange and wonderful things if they really wanted to.

"Somehow I don't think we're going to be having much fun in a fancy place," she murmured, just loud enough for Priere to hear as she fell into place beside the woman with bright red hair.

Shaking herself inwardly, Yuna decided to go ahead with her dressphere change. It looked like she'd end up best on the supporting end and if that meant a well-placed Darkness Dance or Sleepy Shuffle, then she was all for it. Maybe even a Jitterbug or two. She smiled at the thought and let the new dressphere click into place.

Bright lights billowed out from the garment grid, completely engulfing Yuna. The one good thing she could say about this was that it had never woken anyone up who was asleep or alerted anyone to her presence. With a little luck, it wouldn't do so now, either.

Eventually, the lights died down and Yuna was in her favored Songstress dressphere. Kicking her foot against the microphone, she trotted forward a bit and fell into place, trying not to dance too much too soon... and failing miserably at it.

[identity profile] force-sight-gal.livejournal.com 2010-01-08 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Unusual. Shoaneb wondered why the man was so reticent about giving his name, but until he showed himself to be an enemy she wouldn't force the issue. She nodded at Doctor Shantotto, however, and followed. A church door that lead into an island? That didn't sound as though it was possible, but Shoaneb disregarded those automatic thoughts. The greatest impossibility had already happened to her here... anything else that she thought she had learned about what could and could not happened was meaningless after that. This was an entirely new world.

"What sort of equipment is that?" she asked Yuna, curious and intrigued. It was no ordinary garb, nor did it even seem like a kind of technology she was unfamiliar with; Shoaneb could see an unusual aura around it and the sphere that it had come from. Unless her culture had managed to harness the Force to technology? But like Shantotto's power, this didn't have the same sense to it.

She also noted that Priere had taken out a baton, one that she clearly used as a weapon. Shoaneb touched the hilt of her lightsaber again, hoping that she wouldn't need to use it.

[identity profile] scrapsplz.livejournal.com 2010-01-09 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
It wasn't an urge to hide that kept Gabranth from sharing his name, precisely. Just a not particularly wonderful mood and the knowledge that it would mean little. Not that names did in the first place, but as things stood he didn't much mind if he came across as a little suspicious. He was offering his help; that should be good enough.

Unlike the others, he made no real show of making sure his swords were at the ready. He didn't need to. They'd served time out of mind, and would do so again.

"Ans where do you usually go then?" he asked in response to Priere's comment.

"Yeah," Prier muttered back to the gunner. "These places are kinda boring, but maybe we could--"

Whatever she was about to say was lost as Yuna suddenly started shining and ended up in new clothes. She had seen something similar happen with Eclair back home, but it clearly wasn't the same. For starters, Yuna didn't suddenly feel a lot darker... heck, she was dancing. "What was that?" she echoed Shoaned, clearly curious. That was kinda cool after all.

"Well, usually just around the country, but when we go through a dark gate, we always get send to some weird random place in the Netherworld," she said. "Pretty gloomy and dark down there, but sometimes you'd end up in places with weird machines and huge containers." She honestly had no idea what these were for, except that they looked big enough to fit an adult, but it's not exactly as if they went down the Dark World for touring. Kicking the living crap out of demons was more like it. "So, the beach is a nice change!" Maybe not safer, but hey, at least it'll feel nice.

When the small Doctor went ahead, she had to admit she was expecting to hear another one of those "Stop talking while on a mission" speech like she was used to... well maybe she wasn't as bossy as the old Alouette was. "Nothing yet huh?"

Feeling a little more bounce to her steps made Yuna giggle where she might not have done so normally. She glanced around at her companions and held up the Songstress dressphere.

"It's called a dressphere," she explained, tucking the purple crystal sphere back into its garment grid. "A friend from Spira, Shinra, invented them. I only have a few with me here, but they each give me different clothes and abilities. This one is Songstress and it lets me dance to give support boosts. It seems like the best option when so many of you appear to be good fighters already."

Yuna's attention was caught by Shantotto as the tiny doctor climbed up on a couple of rocks and looked around. "Doesn't look like it," she replied, walking a little closer herself.

[identity profile] force-sight-gal.livejournal.com 2010-01-16 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Shoaneb nodded--Spira, the man named Jecht had spoken of it on the communicator. "That's good thinking," she said at Yuna's explanation. "Do you mind if I ask you more about it later? It seems to be a very interesting technology." She couldn't quite put her finger on that aura the sphere and grid emanated.

When they stepped through the door, Shoaneb halted. She'd stepped onto a new place, a new planet... dozens of new sensations flooded her senses. The sound of the sea, the scent of salt, the low rises of islands in the limitless expanse of ocean.

"How...?" She turned her head back and saw Paixao still there. But everything else around them was this. Since she'd begun training as a Jedi, Shoaneb had seen many strange things, but this... this was entirely new. "And this is... common for you?" she asked Priere as she put a hand to her head, adjusting to the abrupt change in environment.

A new place, hidden behind a door. If he hadn't seen it himself, he wouldn't have even believed it possible, despite what one of their number claimed to have done. True, he had come to some manner of terms with the idea of different worlds since his arrival, but even so, it was a hard thing to believe could be contained by a mere door.

"By the same method we were brought, no doubt."

Be it gods, fate or something he hadn't the words for.
