Something about this seems familiar... [Active]
Character(s): Roxas and Kairi
Content: Kairi recognizes Roxas, who of course hasn't met her yet
Setting: Somewhere near Niflhiem gate
Time: Twilight, week
Warnings: None expected, but beware spoilers for 358/2 Days in case I might screw up. >.>
Roxas took a bite of his ice cream, lost in thought as always. He was sitting on a bench near the Niflheim gate, and was once again glad that Xemnas had let him keep the clothes he woke up in--not that he remembered waking up anyway.
The first thing Roxas thought about was Marluxia. He'd never worked with the guy much, and didn't know a lot about him. But apparently he was an enemy of the Organization now, and then he'd decided to start telling everyone about all the Orgainzation's plans...a lot of stuff that Roxas hadn't known a thing about. So they were actually inside Castle Oblivion? That was really weird, since he never remembered going there. Maybe one of the Dark Corridors had been set up to bypass the castle itself and bring him straight to Paixao. It wouldn't surprise him, since the Organization usually didn't bother to tell him things like that. He didn't even know what most of his missions were for, other than collecting hearts with his Keyblade. That was all they kept him around for anyway, but it was his job so he had done it without complaint. It wasn't like it was that hard very often.
Then...he'd met Riku here. And after that he met Timon. And still everyone was talking about Sora, but not telling him anything about the guy. What was so special about being his Nobody anyway? Did that make Roxas somehow important? But more...was Sora eventually going to destroy him, too, along with the rest of the Organization? Why would someone kill their own Nobody?
Nothing was making any more sense now than it had before, and the urgent pleadings from Timon to leave the Organization with all haste weren't helping the keyblade wielder sort out his thoughts. It was hard enough before he knew any of this stuff, but now it was a lot worse.
"Why can't I just be a normal kid, and go to school and hang out and play in the Struggle tournaments?"

Was that... Roxas? When did he get back...? Shock wore off, and excitement took over and she rushed towards where he was eating ice cream, throwing her arm up into the air to wave as she made it closer. "Roxas! Hey!"
no subject
He let the hand with the ice cream fall, and looked at the girl confused. "Do I...know you?" She even looked familiar...and not just in one way, either.
no subject
Riku was always the one who sort things out for her, huh?
"Um... maybe. I guess." She frowns, trying to think. The second time they 'sort of' met, it was really just him and Naminé and... she didn't really meet him. Should he know her? "We're friends," she tries, because it seems like it would be true enough. They were all connected after all, right?

She was use to that. Sora and Riku would always show up at confusing times, talking about things that she should apparently know but she... didn't. Well. Not true, now she understood after she left Paixao originally. Things begun to make sense and all that. "I'm sorry. I'm Kairi," she says apologetically and holds out her hand in greeting.
no subject
Then he abruptly stopped as he noticed what he was doing. "S-sorry...about that..." His hand fell, and the smile faded.
no subject
She smiles when he does, even when he stops. "Don't apologize!" she says quickly. "It's alright. I probably shouldn't have come across so strong."

"I have met you," she insists, lowering her arms down to her sides and looking determined. "I met you in this city before." He was fighting Sora, although she only who he was until later when Riku explained it to her. "But you obviously don't remember that, which is fine. And yes... I do know Sora, he's a very good friend of mine. I met you another time through him, in The World That Never Was. Naminé liked you." But did he even know who that was...?

But apparently there were others like her. Others that left, came back, and did remember. She couldn't make heads or tails of it.
"Naminé is my Nobody," she says, rather matter-of-factly, like she's actually finally become more familiar with all this. It made more sense than it did the last time she was here. She hesitates on the next part, because she doesn't know how much information Roxas has but... "Just like you're Sora's," she mentions at last.
no subject
"...And Riku told me that, too. Not that it helps me any. I still don't even know who Sora is, and no one will actually tell me anything about him."

It wasn't very fun, looking for answers everywhere and only getting vague replies and warnings about the people he worked with. For that matter, it wasn't really that useful, either. The only thing he knew now was that he was Sora's Nobody. That didn't count for much when he didn't know very much about Sora.
no subject
After a moment, Kairi nods to him. "Yes, you do have that right." He was Sora's Nobody after all; they shouldn't be a secret kept from one another. "Although I'm not sure what to say," she admits, chuckling softly to herself and gazing out towards the street. "Sora's a very special person to me... I'm not sure where I'd be without him."
She looks around, then finds somewhere to sit, taking a breath in. "We grew up on Destiny Islands - have you been there before?" She thinks, maybe, that he may have. Just a glimpse of his figure in her memories; black robe, so out of place to the rest of the islands. "He has a strong heart, probably why the keyblade chose him."
no subject
"The keyblade..." he repeated to himself. The thing was still a mystery to him, all he knew was how to use it. If the keyblade chose Sora for his strong heart...did that mean that Roxas only had it because he was Sora's Nobody? It wasn't like he had a heart to be chosen for.
no subject
Kairi herself didn't know all that much about the keyblade - she was certainly on common ground with Roxas in that regards. Although he probably knew how to use it a lot better than her; she's only had it in a short while, and she hadn't used it since her re-arrival to Paixao.
That alone gave her pause, and she holds her hand out before her in thought, concentrating on something that felt... well... keyblade-ish? She didn't really know. The others did it all the time. To her luck, after a moment, she has the keyblade Riku gave to her in hand and she smiles. "Maybe some things are better as mysteries."
no subject
"So you have one too?"
no subject
She releases it and lets it disappear again.

"I guess I'm not going to be able to get the answer I want from you either," he said after a pause. "Not that I know what I'm looking for to start with..."

She slides away from her seat and stands, folding her hands behind her back and turning to face Roxas. "But if I can help in any way until then, don't be afraid to ask, okay, Roxas?"
She wanted to ask him a favor. Wanted to ask him please don't fight Sora when he comes, but she holds it back. Even if they fight again, it'll be alright. And she'll support them both.
no subject
"All right...if I think of anything, I'll ask." There wasn't any more excitement than the previous response, other than the fact it was longer than one word.
It wasn't that he didn't think Kairi could help, it was more that he wasn't quite listening. He was thinking about getting ice cream with Axel.
