A New Foundation [Complete]
Character(s): Timon and Tanaka
Content: Remembering the cheerleaders previous efforts to save him, Timon feels the need to share a few words with the man.
Setting: Actua Are [J7]
Time: Week 11, Unknown
Warnings:Timon is actually nice? Never mind, attempt at being nice was fail.
Everything had changed. Walking the dark, poorly lit streets by himself was a completely different experience compared to what it had previously been. He had been so careless, strolling dumbfoundedly down the middle of the street with countless Heartless following him. Now he practically ran, diving behind any statue, tree or other obstacles he could find. It was doubtful this would prevent any Heartless from finding him but most importantly ensured that any wandering Organization members which might have been out would not spot him. After seeing their power first hand he dreaded the thought of one of them finding him again. If they could do that to him by simply poking him who knew what else they were capable of? He turned his thoughts elsewhere.
Tanaka had not been specific about exactly where in Actua Are they were to meet. The thought occurred to the breathless meerkat once he had finally reached the hotel and could be seen struggling to open the door before someone passed through it. He looked over his shoulder cautiously when entering the building, eyes frantically scanning the entrance while he pressed himself against a wall, trying to blend into the environment. Timon did not feel as courageous as he usually did, hoping for once not to be noticed by anyone other than the cheerleader.

He wasn't sure how that portal skill worked, but judging by the appearance of Nobodies, it was likely an ability related to the Light he'd read about in that message. With it gone, the cheerleader simply didn't know what to expect--in general, really. He'd done all he could to try and stop whatever was going on, but nothing had made a difference. What exactly had Timon wanted to speak for, then?
It was Tanaka's own nerves that kept him from noticing the approaching spirit of fear. It took a moment before he realized its presence at all, and recognized Timon trying to plaster himself to a wall. One thing was clear enough, the meerkat before him was completely changed from the last time.
Tanaka took a moment, cleared his throat and his thoughts, before approaching. "Uh... hello. Again. Are you hurt, or...?" How exactly was he supposed to greet him, after last time, anyway?
no subject
“Yeah, hi. I’m fine.” Timon replied, awkwardly scratching the back of his head. His discomfort was likely incredibly obvious but he didn’t care. “Look, uh, about earlier? I just wanted to thank you. I mean what you did… No ones ever done that for me before. I appreciate it – as incredibly stupid as it was. Do you realize what they could have done to you? If you wanna go around playin’ dramatic and hero like you gotta get yourself the build, the smarts and the moves. You know what I mean? Next time I might not be there to save you!”
no subject
"I have an idea of what they could do," he admitted. "But the fact remains that I couldn't simply sit back and let what was going on continue freely." He crossed his arms behind his back. "Any Ouendan puts everything he has to protect the spirit of another... And yours was clearly under seige."
He sighed again. "I... know that it was a dangerous act. Who knows where I would be without your assistance." Literally. "I'm in your debt many times over, after that night."
no subject
“Yeah?” he asked and raised an enticed brow. “Well that makes few of you. For the amount of people who go on about protecting others and all that a lot of them turn out to only care about themselves when it comes to taking action. I don’t know what an ‘O-ha’, or whatever you called yourself, is but if there are more of you I can’t see it lasting for long. No offence or anything but people are really gonna use you guys. You’re practically begging to be. You, however, have nothing to worry about. I am a kind and honest meerkat and would never use someone against their will who was not in debt to me.” Lying undoubtedly through his teeth, Timon smiled at Tanaka as though to convince him otherwise. “I wouldn’t worry about it. After all, everyone ends up in my debt eventually.”
no subject
"Ouendan," he corrected. "I don't plan on being required to do anything that strikes me as less than honorable, regardless of debt. Though it is rather nice that you had no such plans in mind." He huffed. "My skills aren't of much use on their own, regardless. I can't imagine I'd be at much risk for being targeted, or to work alongside..." He paused to think over how to word it. "Your past acquaintances."
no subject
“Don’t call them that.” The rodent snapped. “It’s not like I had a choice.” A frustrated huff of hot air escaped him as he brought his paws to his temples. A pause was given to allow him to calm himself down before he spoke again. He shook his head. “So, what are these skills of yours anyway?”
no subject
"Which," he added, "isn't of much help if it's not desired." Tanaka gave the meerkat a pointed look before he sat down. "If you want my help, it's better for you to stop dodging questions and let me know what's going on."

"It's no sort of magic," he corrected. "It's just a sort of... sixth sense. I work with the power of a person's soul in concert with my own, connecting the two of us to amplify will and emotion. It pushed personal limitations, so everything you have can be put to the task." Tanaka gave Timon a look. "But it can't give one strength they did not already have, and feelings of anger or vengefulness cannot be worked with. They're unstable and dangerous."
no subject
“Connecting with peoples souls?” He asked in disbelief. “You actually expect me to believe this stuff? Maybe if you fed them some kinda ‘potion’ or something but just alone? I don’t know if that’s gonna happen. I’m going to need a demonstration or something. Use these powers of yours on one of those citizens over there.”
no subject
The young man took a deep breath. "It's not... like that. It requires drive, dedication, a goal for me to work alongside with, and..." Tanaka glanced to the citizens and lowered his voice, "they honestly don't have any. I've done demonstrations in the city before, but I need someone with spirit of actual substance."
no subject
If he met up with him again. He’d been avoiding it for the past week, though certainly spoken with the demon. Timon suspected things to be awkward with many questions he wasn’t sure he was ready to face - likely to be followed by a lot of yelling on his part. Vyers had proved himself to be a miserable bodyguard, as well as a friend. To think he had actually thought of the demon as anything more than a mere stepping stone. How stupid of him.
He eyed Tanaka thoughtfully. “Have we ever been introduced?” he asked.
no subject
The cheerleader fiddled with his glasses a moment, frowning. He didn't like his abilities being doubted, as an individual and especially as an Ouendan. He hadn't been on a proper mission--one not formulated by plan, but by sporadic necessity--for a long time, and the last one he'd been on had resulted in a less than ideal manner. He needed to get back to work, somehow or another.
Timon's question snapped him away from his moody thoughts again. "Ah. Partially. I did introduce myself in our last meeting, but I didn't catch yours at the time." Since then, he'd had the opportunity to read it over the journals, though.
no subject
The thought of allowing Tanaka to use his abilities on him never occurred to him. Naturally it would have been the easiest way to for the cheerleader to prove himself but Timon would never stand for it. Letting someone control him was something he most certainly did not want. Though, if the man wanted, he could likely influence the meerkat quite easily.
“That doesn’t count. I wasn’t exactly myself the last time we met. I, however, am the one, the only, Timon. I don’t suppose you’ve heard of me before, have you? I’m pretty popular around the city.”
no subject
He could have motivated Timon himself, sure, but one didn't just Cheer to prove a point. It helped people, when they wanted and needed it, and the meerkat clearly wasn't in the category. Not yet. Besides, Tanaka there was anything he could do right now, with Timon as frustrated as he was.
"I've heard your name a couple times, I suppose," Tanaka admitted. Mostly within Timon's own journals, which he'd looked into since their last encounter.
no subject
“Have you seen or spoken with the General since then?” he asked.
no subject
"No..." For a resistance, they seemed to be awfully quiet as of late. Particularly in the midst of this kind of chaos. He would have thought more would be done... or maybe that was Tanaka's own inability to do anything keeping him from knowing what was happening. "I can't say I've had any sort of contact with him recently. Or much of the others."
no subject
Timon looked back up at the cheerleader worriedly. “Do you think something might have happened to the General… Or the others? I haven’t seen many of them around either. Maybe the Organization got to them too.”
no subject
He sighed and adjusted his hat. "I think our best bet may be to send a call out over the network and see who's even around. Not entirely subtle, but we should only be in the dark in so many ways."
no subject
“Hmpf. Yeah, right. Those guys had better have a good excuse for slacking off like this.” He shook his head disapprovingly. “I’ll throw a post up shortly. It’ll be helpful to know who’s still here and… Who’s not if we’re going to do anything about everything going on lately.” Timon paused. “I mean, if they are.” It was this kinda stuff that got him in trouble in the first place. “I’m not sure I want to get back into this kinda thing just yet. Couldn't hurt to ask though, right?"
no subject
"If you don't want to catch the attention of certain people, perhaps it would be better if I put up the question?" Tanaka had yet to really see what the Organization did to people who irked them, but he knew he wouldn't want someone to fall upon it twice.
no subject
The meerkat cleared his throat and looked up at the cheerleader. “Well, I should probably get going. I just wanted to stop by and… You know, about what happened earlier…” He said ‘thank you’ once already, Tanaka would not be getting it out of him again.
no subject
At Timon's second comment, he gave the animal a second look, before smiling faintly. "Of course. Thank you again, for your help that time." He gave his cap a tug of small salute. "I hope we can meet again under less stressful circumstances in the future."
