The Great Wide Somewhere [Active]
Character(s): Belle, Jenny, whoever else would like to come across our fair bookworm.
Content: Belle arrives in Paixao.
Setting: Muspelheim gate and surrounding areas.
Time: Early evening.
Warnings: None so far.
Belle glanced over her shoulder, clutching the comforting fabric of her blue cloak to her throat. The amazing entrance surrounded by gilded flames was still there, and this was her third time checking to see if she'd really just gone through. The line of blonde, blue-eyed people didn't seem to have moved at all. It was if she'd passed through a portal, untouched and unnoticed except for the bland man who shoved papers and some strange device in her hands.
Not for the first time, she went through the past moments in her mind, trying to make sense of something that clearly, obviously could not be real. The last thing she remembered, she was in the woods outside her small village home, searching for Phillipe. He'd escaped his stall again -- not especially difficult, as Belle could never find it in her heart to truly imprison such a kind animal in a mockery of her own helpless state -- and she'd spent hours looking for him, worry gnawing at the edges of her mind. It was getting colder as the sky darkened and she'd found herself in a section of the forest that she'd never seen. Hungry and tired, she wasn't looking where she was stepping and she'd tripped, fallen into one of the many treacherous ravines...or so she'd thought.
Waking up outside the massive golden gate was certainly a shock.
This is more amazing than anything I could have dreamed up, Belle thought, walking with slow, hesitant steps further into the city. The weight of the slim device she was given rested in the pocket of her apron, strangely reassuring. With each step, she felt a bolstering thrill run through her. This was certainly an adventure! As hard as it was to believe, this was all real! Well...technically. She glanced sidelong at some foliage, noting the texture of fabric and beaded flowers.
As she walked further from the gate and clusters of people, she saw more of the city expanded before her. Impressive, palatial buildings, intricately carved and painted statues, a domed ceiling that seemed almost like a real sky...
Belle's vision suddenly darkened around the edges and she gasped softly, blindly reaching out with her hand to find something to steady herself with before she fainted.

The moment she noticed the brunette trying to steady herself, she moved in and quickly placed her hand on the woman's arm to help. She hoped she hadn't surprised the woman by coming out of nowhere like that. Oh, why did she have to blend in so well? Not that it was a bad thing all the time.
"You alright?" Jenny asked. She wasn't exactly worried too much since she didn't really know the girl before her, but hey, there was nothing wrong with giving someone a hand. After all, helping people just kind of ran in the family.

She smiled sheepishly, lifting one hand to hover by her temple. "Y-yes, thank you. I think I just...need to sit down for a moment." She glanced around, hoping for a ledge or a bench.

"I'm Jenny by the way. It's a pleasure to meet you..." Jenny said, waiting for the other girl to finish the sentence with her own name. After all, what was the good of not knowing names? They couldn't very well go around just saying "hey you" could they?

"You're a newcomer here, right?" She asked, trying to concentrate her mind in a new direction.

"To be honest, I'm still not entirely convinced this isn't one big fever dream," Belle continued, relieving Jenny of her weight. "The last thing I remember was falling into a ravine in the woods behind my home." Her eyebrows furrowed slightly as she gazed ahead. "To think all my daydreaming had any basis in reality..."

"Daydreaming? What could you have possibly been daydreaming about?"

Before Jenny could comment on it, Belle quickly moved on. "I have so many questions for you, Miss Jenny. What is this place? Why is everyone blonde and blue eyed?" She reached into the pocket of her apron, pulling out the electronic journal. "What is this?"
no subject
"First off, it's just Jenny. Second, this city is known as Paixao, and I have no idea why everyone is blonde and blue eyed. Well, not everyone really, but atleast those that seem to be from here." She pauses for a moment before moving onto explaining the journal. "That thing you've got there is an electronic journal, and it's quite useful around here for keeping in touch with everyone." Again, Jenny pauses, trying to think of the best way to explain it without getting to complicated. Well, she supposed the best way was just to show Belle how to use it.
"Here, hand it here. I'll teach you how to use it." All that could follow Jenny's words was a long, and simple tutorial with quite a few examples.

By the time Jenny was done with her tutorial, the cafe was in sight. Belle pocketed the journal again, smiling gratefully at the other girl. "Thank you, M-...Jenny. You've been such a help to me. I just wish there was a way I could repay you."
