Hi, Have Some Info [Active]

Character(s): Sonic and the Prince
Content: The Prince is looking for information. Sonic has it.
Setting: Porfavore's [I5]
Time: Week 5 - Afternoon
Warnings: None so far

Well, this was new. Usually it was Sonic asking for information on what the heck was going on. He wasn't used to being the go-to guy. It was kind of a weird position to be in, especially when he wasn't sure just how much he could tell this guy. Heck, he didn't even know his name.

That was probably the first thing he should figure out, huh.

The second one was how much of the info was supposed to stay a secret. He and Lara and the Doctor hadn't said much about it, at least not in public - something about the journals not being secure? Either way, he didn't want to let the cat out of the bag - not if it was supposed to stay in there for a while longer.

Well, he'd play it by ear. In the meantime, Porfavore's had chili and hot dogs, and Sonic was not above combining the two himself if it meant he'd get the snack he'd been craving for a good while.

As expected, the Prince had lost his way several times even with the help of his device's map. This time, he had decided to avoid the mechanical transportation, and find his way around the City by foot; a mistake, he discovered, but one he did not regret. The detours themselves were more educational than irritating, but being repeatedly confronted with both his own foreignness and that of Paixao made the Prince feel surly.

Still, as he finally approached Porfavore's at a slow walk, he found his mood brightening. It seemed to be some kind of eating hall, with tables set out and several locals seated. Although he did not recognize any of the foods laid out, there was an appetizing odour in the air that made him remember his hunger. Before he could follow this thought to its natural conclusion, however, he glimpsed the person he had been searching for. There, seated in front of more mystifying fare, was the man Timon had called Sonic.

For one short moment, the Prince took in his appearance. Then he crossed the distance, face smooth, strides long. Foreign, yes, but always, he hoped, quick to adapt.

Chili...dogs? the Prince wondered. Was this place perhaps part menagerie, part eatery?

"I am the Prince of Persia," he introduced himself after a moment, still slightly thrown by Sonic's foreign babble. Then, haltingly: "Thank you...for meeting me here. I hope you have not waited long? I lost my way, as I expected."

Still slightly disoriented, the Prince followed Sonic to a table in silence. It took him every second of that short journey to realize "chili dogs" must be some kind of Paixaon food. This mystery solved, a sharp pang of hunger startled him again; without Farah around, he had a tendency to forget to eat, and Paixao had kept him well distracted since his arrival.

The thought of Farah, however, jolted him back to the present. Sonic was watching him across the table, awaiting a response to a question the Prince could not remember at all. He was about to admit this, rather sheepishly, when it suddenly came to him, uncannily clear. What information did you want to know?

"Ah," he began, ineloquently. "Yes. Timon mentioned you were with a party that recently travelled to the...ah, churt outside the walls of this city. If so, I would welcome details on anything you might have found there. I...cannot bring myself to believe there are no answers to be found about Paixao within Paixao itself; there must be something, some sign."

"A room..." The Prince turned this over in his mind, and found only one thing: "A portal?! You found a portal?"

But Sonic had made no mention of time; perhaps he was wrong. "Where does it lead? If this world is connected to another, then there is hope that we may yet found our way home!"

The Prince was finding it difficult to contain his excitement. Of course there were clues within Paixao, of course. Nothing in this world felt real, and it went beyond mere foreignness--even the inhabitants seemed empty spirits. It was more than world taken by the Sands; it was the world beyond the Sands themselves. But unlike the Island of Time, Paixao felt...devoid of history. But that cannot be true. There was a churt here, where Sonic and the others found this room. Why? Why create a building of worship for a mirage? Why was it abandoned? That spoke history, and it made no sense--unless St. Destino had been created to hold the room Sonic spoke of, the room that defied the laws of science...

"Monster? A--a creature attacked you? What did it look like?!"

Instantly, the Prince's mind leapt ahead to the most likely possibility: the Dahaka. Certainly, it was logical: where there were portals, there was the Dahaka, but at the same time, the Prince knew this couldn't be so. He and Kaileena had defeated the Dahaka on the Island of Time almost a year ago; defeated it, unknowingly, at the cost of Kaileena's life. The memory was jarring; the Prince shook his head to free himself of it. The present--that was what was important. This land and these people. Dwelling in the past would do no good.

"Please--you must show me. Could you do that?"

The Prince was pleased to see his earlier assumption was right: a chili dog was indeed some kind of nourishment. Looking down at it, however, he again felt overwhelmed by foreignness; then the feeling passed, and some deep-buried curious instinct surfaced within him. Gamely, he lifted the food to his mouth and tried it, hoping he would not find it repulsive and somehow cause offence. He was surprised to discover it was good--different, yes, and perhaps blander than he was accustomed to, but good.

"Thank you. I had not realized my hunger."

Tentatively, he offered Sonic a smile over the chili dog. Perhaps he could allow himself to drop his guard, just slightly. Thus far, after all, the people of Paixao had proved to be friendly, if strange. And if he was to be stuck here, he would need to stop fighting everything--even if just a little bit.

[Yes, please! Princy needs to get out and see some of Paixao so he can stop angssssting. XD]
