Straying, claiming my place in this mortal coil [Complete]
Character(s): Lenne, Simba
Content: Lenne wanders, shops, and makes a new friend
Setting: G5ish, somewhere near The Glass Bonsai
Time: Early afternoon
Warnings: None
Lenne did her best to not think too much lately. After some time and getting a better grasp of the monetary system of the town, she managed to acquire a small studio apartment in the Iriela Apartments. Daily she wandered around, careful not to stray far, as her sense of direction was lousy in the city of her birth, and no better in this strange place. She frequented the Cheap Prayer, content for now to blend into the darkness there, often toying with ideas of performing again, herself. Maybe someday, but not just yet.
One of her favorite places in town had become the Glass Bonsai, the assortment of baubles and interesting things generally satisfying her need to window shop. But what she really needed were some new clothes, and she hadn't yet found a place for that.
She had begun to wander a little farther today, not sure where she was going, but her journal in hand for the map it provided, just in case. She took a moment to have a seat on a small bench, browsing the map in her journal to see if anything nearby sounded promising.

The people here were still scared of him, no matter how innocent he tried to look as he explored. Apparently, people were always going to be afraid of a lion, even these strange blond people. It seemed that only the people who weren't from the domed city weren't afraid of him, and that was after they realized that he wasn't a threat.
He sighed. Things were never going to change, were they?

What she found was a strange creature... not an aeon by any means... maybe some kind of coeurl? Absolutely beautiful... but not generally friendly. She stiffened unconsciously, becoming motionless as she watched him, waiting to see if he would wander back where he came from. She didn't quite feel afraid, however, even though instinct told her she should be. Well, she was just going to sit and wait to see what happened, no need to make any sudden movements or noise, just in case...

Slowly, he walked over, ignoring all the looks turned his way. "Excuse me." He started, "Are you from outside the city?"

She smiled lightly, nodding at the large feline that had managed to render her speechless by speaking. She uncrossed and re-crossed her legs, a slight nervous habit. She then laughed quietly, shaking her head as if to clear her thoughts.
"Forgive me, just took me a moment to find my voice," she apologized a moment later, a light blush rising to her face.
"I am from a different place, yes, though whether my home is outside this city, or in a completely different place, I am not sure." Did she always have to answer simple questions with so many words? Another nervous habit.
I'm speaking to a coeurl...
"I am willing to guess you're not native here, yourself?" She asked as well as stated, smiling benignly, suddenly completely at ease, her nervousness vanishing as quickly as it came. Maybe it was just the fact that she hadn't spoken to anyone for a while that had her stuttering.

"No. I'm from a place called the Pride Lands. A lot prettier than this place, by far. Better air, better land. And a sky. I miss the sky."
no subject
"Where I am from it is a larger city than this, so for me, this place feels so small, and yet the air is easier to breath here." After another moment's thought, "It's strange how it seems to draw people from so many different worlds... I had never stopped to think there was more than just Spira, and my Zanarkand."
His glancing around was not lost on her, though she was unsure what he was searching for. "Are you looking for someone?" She asked curiously.
no subject
"Are there this many people in your home?" He seemed shocked, not really believing that it was possible, but only because he wasn't used to the amounts of people here.
no subject
"I haven't seen this whole city yet, to be honest, but in my city, the buildings are much taller, and always bright, it feels like daytime almost every hour. There are SO many people. It feels so crowded, even moreso than this place," she gestures as she talks, her hands all over the place, as if it's going to make her descriptions come to life.
"It was entirely self sufficient, like this city, and I would always get lost very easily... not much has changed for me, all things considered," she laughed again lightly.
"But I miss the sky, too. As big as my city, Zanarkand, was... it still felt open. I was never trapped there, like here..."
no subject
"All this fake nature bothers me. I want to be outside again, where the sun and plants are real, not fake, like they are in there." It made him wonder, just where exactly he had ended up.
no subject
"I really haven't even been here that long, and I miss the sun. I can only imagine how you feel," she said in empathy.
Then a random thought. "There were plants outside the city, weren't there? I don't really remember. I really didn't pay much attention to anything when I first... arrived here."
She hadn't tried to leave the city since her arrival, the guards having been slightly imposing, but she had begun to wonder if she could somehow get some plants into the city, since it's not likely she'd want to remain outside for long... maybe have a small garden of REAL nature... hmmm...
There goes her mind again, wandering off in the middle of a conversation...
"Is it difficult for you to be around so many humans?" she asked him as politely as possible. She could understand the aversion to him, before you got to talk to him, of course. He was unlike anything she'd ever seen. But she could also see how humans and their artificial and destructive ways could really bother him.
no subject
"You know, that could help us out. I bet I can get us out of here, then back in, no problems." He turned in the direction of the nearest gate, he could smell the plants over all the plastic imitations. "People here are scared of me, aren't they?"
no subject
"Yes... they seem to be... I think that just might work!" She laughed, resisting the urge to hug the lion in her joy. She planned to have them stop by her apartment on their way to the outside, should they go through with this. She wanted to grab a bag or jar or something so she could get some dirt and maybe actually go through with her gardening whim...
"You wanna try it?" She asked, already planning ahead. She couldn't hardly WAIT to see the sky again...
no subject
"Want to go now? Or when?"
no subject
"Sure! Let's go now. I'd like to run by my apartment really quick on the way, though. I'd like to bring some plants back from out side," if there are any.
She couldn't resist reaching a hand out to ruffle the mane on his head. "Think you can handle intimidating?" She was absolutely certain he could, she just couldn't resist teasing.
