It Really Was Always His Fault [closed/active]
Character(s): Karrin Murphy & Harry Dresden
Content: Karrin reunites with Harry
Setting: Paixao Central Station
Time: [backdated] Week 2, evening
Warnings: none...well maybe cursing and violence?
Karrin stood on the platform of the train station where she had agreed to meet Harry. She was a little satisfied with the fact that her hunch that Harry was here had been right. While she could have handled it well on her own it was nice having the wizard who knew all sorts of crazy little trips and secrets on your side. Of course, she was also getting the feeling that Harry didn't know much about this place.
Still, she would wait for him and find out face to face. She had so many questions of her own that she wasn't sure where she would begin with her friend...and Karrin hated being in the dark. Karrin tapped her foot impatiently, she also hated waiting.

Also, fear of what she might do to him if she thought this was his fault.
Turning the corner, he glanced around the station looking for Murphy. He was pretty sure she'd see him first, given that a six foot nine dark haired wizard stood out a bit more than a five foot and change blond cop. Yet to his surprise, Harry spotted her almost at once. There was something about Murphy, a drive, a dedication, a passion, that just made her stand out in the listless crowds of Paixao like someone had shined a spot light on her.
Smiling, he waved his hand and said, "Hey pretty lady, looking for a good time?"

A small smile crept into her features, she tried to conceal it quickly enough but really any familiar face in a strange place like this was a little reassuring.
Of course his greeting was the typical and Karrin felt a familiar flare of anger and urge to smack that smug grin off his face. "Not now, Harry. I want your take on what's going on." She'd spoken to a few people but their word only meant so much to her.

His expression became more serious though as he tilted his head to a bench to the side. "Come on, I'll fill you in with what I know."
Once they were seated Harry ran a hand through his hair and said, "Okay, so this city is called Paixao. Near as I can tell, we are in a realm of existence that is neither Earth, the Nevernever, or any of the supposed afterlives. Also not any of the other reaches as demonstrated by the noticeable lack of tentacles. Judging by what the locals have said, we are far from alone in this, and people have been coming from all kinds of worlds. Furthermore," here Harry dropped his voice, "They think that a group called the Organization might be behind all of this. Supposedly they have abducted several people for experiments."

She nodded and followed him to the bench, watching him and waiting to listen for the information. She'd heard some of this information already...at least about the name and what not. "I've already run into a few people who definitely aren't from Earth...but from what they said they aren't natives to this place either," she replied, thinking of the two she had met at the gate. Her interest was piqued however when Harry lowered his voice. Karrin didn't move her head but her eyes did scan the area, Harry dropping his voice meant he must not want someone listening in.
Despite this not being Chicago, it was quite obvious that Karrin didn't like the idea of abductions going on, "Do we have any clues as to what they're doing to these people? Or maybe more on who they might be?"

Harry leaned in as well and said, "I've made contact with a group of individuals who seem to be resisting the Organization, and we managed to find what may or may not be their labs. As for what they are doing, I can't say for sure, other than it is unpleasant. I've got a few names from these people, though how accurate the information is I can't say. I'm trying to keep my head down for now until I have something more concrete, though knowing my luck who can say how much luck I'll have."
He turned to look at Murphy out of the corner of his eye and gave her a genuine smile. "I'm glad you're here Murph. I probably shouldn't be, but I have a feeling I'm going to need your help on this one."
no subject
She snorted, "Harry you keeping your head down is never very effective for long considering you constantly seem to have a large red and white target on your back." Karrin was quiet for a moment and then sighed, "Still, I can't be as much help getting information here considering I don't have any police files to go off of or anything. It's going to make digging up dirt pretty tricky." Still, she and Harry wouldn't be investigators for nothing, they had a lot of experience working with little information and they could do it here too...only now they didn't have the advantage of home turf. Karrin didn't like that part so much.
Karrin caught his eye for a split second before shaking her head, "It's just as well, Lord knows there's probably not many other people here who know how to save your ass and kick it at the same time."
no subject
He couldn't help but grin when Murphy got back her confidence. "That's the spirit! Though I am a bit concerned that kicking my ass was placed on the same level as saving it. You seem to have an unhealthy fixation on my ass."
no subject
She snorted in annoyance at his next comment, effectively pulling her away from any further thoughts of the subject of her job. "You wish. you pig," she remarked in her usual, unamused tone.
no subject
"Hey, I happen to have a very nice ass. I've even been working out lately." Harry stood and turned to highlight the part of his anatomy in question. Anything to distract Murphy from her worries.
