How we gonna pay? [ Closed / Complete ]
Character(s): Hakkai (and whoever else wants to join in, I guess?).
Content: Looking for a place to stay.
Setting: Actua Are hotel (near where the four lines for each gate meet on the map).
Time: Evening.
Warnings: None.
It was just Hakkai's luck, to wind up in an upper-class district with no money. If he slept, he'd sleep at the base of a fake tree. If he ate... well, he didn't eat. At first he thought he could pick fruit off one of the trees, but when he actually touched it, he realized that they were made of glass. Nothing here was real. He tried asking some passers by how they ate if everything was fake, but they just stared at him funny and walked away. He'd been getting a lot of that lately.
Dead set on finding Sanzo, Goku and Gojyo (that is, if they were even there), Hakkai spent most of the day on his feet... and, needless to say, he was just about ready to collapse. Unfortunately, he couldn't use his chi to heal muscle aches or fatigue; it was only for closing opened wounds. In an attempt to stay positive, he told himself: Well, at least I don't have to use my chi for that... But when his legs felt like they were about to give way, when he was lost in this unfamiliar world, when nobody would answer his questions... well, all the happy thoughts in the world probably wouldn't help him much.
The sun was just beginning to set when he arrived at the Actua Are hotel, yet another building for which he had to adjust his monocle and crane his neck up to see. If the people walking around with their fine clothing and slightly snobbish air weren't enough for him, the richly-decorated walls on both the outside and the inside of the hotel were enough for him to realize that he'd been deposited in a high-class town. If it wasn't hard enough to find a place to stay anywhere else, it would definitely be a struggle here. Still, he didn't feel comfortable travelling in this unfamiliar place after dark, and he had no choice but to go inside. Hopefully, he could get by cleaning dishes for a night, or something like that.
When he got inside, Hakkai winced at the brightly colored decorations and furniture. Sure, it was pretty, but if they could tone it down just a little...
He wasn't even given time to finish his thoughts when a uniformed man standing by the door approached him with an eerie, almost hollow smile. "Welcome to the Actua Are---" and then, he finally stopped to look at the weary healer, who looked like he'd taken a beating from doing so much walking. "What happened to you?"
Hakkai was used to these strange looks by now, but he forced a smile all the same. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you..."
The man didn't even seem like he was thinking this over; he just shrugged, plastered on that creepy, hollow smile, and greeted a young couple that had entered after him. Knowing his business was not with him, but with whoever ran the establishment, Hakkai approached the front desk and waited for someone to come answer his questions... for once.
He got the same response as he did just seconds ago. A young woman - also in the uniform blouse and dressy slacks - came up to him, starting to say: "Welcome to the..." when she saw Hakkai in his disheveled state. Even he couldn't stop himself from rolling his eyes a little. Oh, come on. Was he that strange? "You need a room, don't you?"
Hakkai laughed a bit and nodded his head. "Actually, I was wondering if..." Well, okay. He didn't need any more weird stares. He lowered his voice a little so only she could hear him. "If there was anything I could do. You know, to pay for a night here."
"No money?"
"None." He offered an apologetic smile. At least she was kind enough to return it.
"Well, I'll go see if we need any help. In the meantime, you just... make yourself at home in the lobby, or something. You look... tired." Understatement of the year, he thought, but he thanked her all the same.
Hakkai let out an audible sigh of relief as he eased himself into a chair, glad that he was finally off of his feet. Sure, he'd be back on them the next day when he continued searching for his companions, but he'd think about that when the time came.

Mokona was already dozing off as the night came, his eyes heavy with the on comings of sleepy time. Yuuko couldn't help but laugh to herself slightly as she looked around for something that resembled a hotel. Noting the people walking into a lavishly decorated place and being waited on, she strolled up to it, letting herself in. All the while she thought to herself as to what these people take as payment....she wondered if they accepted gold...

She knew by his question that her answer would be disappointing to him, yet another lost soul within this farce world. It was like they were a collection of people and this all was a game...As this thought crossed Yuuko's mind she couldn't help but frown on the inside at it, she hated being used as though she was the pawn.
"In exchange I hope you'll permit me to ask my own question...What do these people take as currency?" She murmured, pulling a pouch with gold coins from her obi. "Do you know if they might take gold?"

Normally Yuuko wasn't such a generous person, afterall, she was a woman of business. But when someone in stranded in a place with no money and little hope, you tend to feel your need to extend a helping hand increase 1000 fold.
"You just sit back down while I flag someone down who works here and see if they'll accept my currency...Till then, I'll let Mokona sit by you."
Picking the black bunny up from her shoulder, she placed him on a chair nearest to her and turned to flag someone down at the help desk about their money issue.

Yuuko smiled, popping the bag of money up and down within her grasp, listening to it jingle as she walked back over. "Well, it seems they do accept my currency, quite happily." She held a key attached to a string with her index finger and thumb out to Hakkai. "This is for you. I'm in the room next to you...If you need anything you can knock." She murmured.

She gave a simple bow of her head to him and picked up the sleepy looking Mokona from the arm of the chair and walked off to the nearest elevator to go to her room, leaving Hakkai to sit there, with the key still in his grasp. Whether he used it or not was up to his own conscience now...
