Light in the Darkness [Active]
Character(s): Lexaeus and Sara Sidle
Content: After her psychological torture at the hands of Larxene, Sara now finds herself in Lexaeus's care.
Setting: xxxxx
Time: xxxxx
Warnings: Experimentation
Lexaeus moved through the lab methodically, taking his time to ensure everything was in exactly the place it needed to be. There was no rush, no sloppiness, no excess, only cold clinical science. Unlike some of his comrades, Lexaeus did not see this as a chance to act out rage or curiosity on a helpless subject, merely a means to an end. He would see if this path would lead him to his ultimate objective, and if not he would abandon it for another.
For many, this cold practicality would be even more terrifying than the glee of a sadist.
The lab he had prepared was sparse and dedicated singularly to the task at hand. The bed in the center actually looked reasonably comfortable, and the light's and colors of the walls were a series of shifting blues, calibrated to have a calming effect on the subject, almost as if they were laying in a field, or on a raft in a lake. There were no menacing shadows, and in the background classical music could be heard playing softly from the speakers.
The only visible machinery rested on a small rolling table, a medium sized tube glass, full up a bright shimmering light, and tipped with a suction cup on one end, and a plunger on the other. It would almost seem comical in another context, like some child's toy. Next to the device rested a thick folder with the words Sara Sidle written on them, which Lexaeus had already taken the time to memorize. Still, there was no need to take unnecessary risks here. Beyond that there were a few basic medical tools, the sort that would be used in a doctor's checkup.
Taking off his small reading glasses and placing them in his pocket, Lexaeus reached out with one hand and snapped his fingers. A second later a number of Dusks shimmered into existence.
"Acquire Subject Sidle and bring her to this location unharmed," he ordered in a rumbling voice, before turning back to his preparations. The Dusks swayed for a moment, their voices an empty whisper, before turning to do their master's bidding.

"Acquire Subject Sidle and bring her to this location unharmed," he ordered in a rumbling voice, before turning back to his preparations. The Dusks swayed for a moment, their voices an empty whisper, before turning to do their master's bidding.

In her hand she clutched the piece of paper that Larxene had put in her pocket, reminding her of just how weak she really was. She turned to the side when she sensed something there, seeing some nobodies standing there, looking at her again.
"No, not again." She whispered, trying to manage to get away from them, but failing as she felt them grab at her to take her somewhere else. "Please, just leave me alone!" she begged, although she knew it was fruitless. She could only hope this wasn't as bad as before.
no subject
Motioning silently for them to place her on the chair Lexaeus had the Dusks hold her until he finished securing the restraints himself. It paid to be thorough after all.
Stepping back he finally turned his piercing gaze on Sara, seemingly seeing right though her. "You are most likely wondering why you are here. I can offer you little assurance save this, I am not my comrade, and have no interest in her petty pleasures. Cooperate, and this will go as planned. Resist, and this will go as planned. The only choice you have is how easy the process will be on yourself as I have no need nor want of your understanding or consideration."
Stepping forward he raised his hand and said, "Now, I will begin by draining the excess Darkness that has built up within your system."
Lexaeus had read Sara's file closely, and he knew that a scientific approach to things would play to her curiosity. Despite his claims, Sara's cooperation would aid the process considerably by preventing her from building up more Darkness within her system to resist the treatment. However, he knew any caring persona would arouse suspicion, and thus had taken his current approach.

"You're going to do what now?" She'd never heard of excess 'darkness' in someone. She wanted to know a bit more at this point.

A second later there was a swirl of shadows around Sara's chest, and then suddenly a black substance seemed to emerge from within her, flying across empty space to gather in the palm of the large man's hand. As it did, all of Sara's doubts, guilt, fear, and apprehension began to fade away. She probably felt a strange lightness inside her.
For his part, Lexaeus studied the ball of darkness impassively, as if it was just one more chemical in his lab.
no subject
"That..." She said, staring directly at the darkness. "Was all inside me?" She couldn't believe it, really. She knew her job had taken it's toll, but hadn't realized it had taken that much of one.
no subject
Turning, he reached under the movable table and pulled out a large container, into which he inserted the globe of darkness. The second he sealed the container the darkness seemed to explode outward, tendrils reaching as if trying to grasp something. Without so much as a raised eyebrow, Lexaeus returned the container under the table.
Turning back he picked up a small light doctors use to examine a patient's ears, and proceeded to examine Sara, before moving on to check her heart, lungs, and reflexes. "This is important to ensure that your body can take the strain of having the balance of light and dark in it unbalanced so quickly." After all, an experiment was useless if you killed the subject before you had even begun.
no subject
"Wait, I thought you were working on balancing it again..." She said out loud, looking up at him. "I'm guessing that's not true?" She still wasn't really struggling, just trying to sort things out.
no subject
Finishing his examination, Lexaeus rose and picked up the device. Moving back over to Sara, he calmly pressed it to her chest, then pressed down on the plunger, flooding the light inside directly into her heart.

It was an interesting sensation to Sara. First, there was a bit of pain, a shock from so much light flooding into her. Second, she felt like she was floating slightly, before she felt like she settled down again, but still felt like she as higher than a kite...
...At least from the experiences others had told her about.
no subject
After a few moments he stepped forward and asked, "How do you feel?"
no subject
no subject
"Now then, I am going to undo your bindings. Please do not run or I'll be forced to hurt you." Moving closer, he reached out and undid the straps around her arms and legs.
Stepping back, he watched her actions carefully.
no subject
"So, what now?" She asked, opening her eyes to look over at him. "And I'm not running, I learned my lesson last time."
no subject
"Now I wish to observe how this change has influenced your reactions. Please walk from one end of the room to the other. Lexaeus leaned back calmly, notebook in hand.

When she finished, she turned to look at the captor. "Anything else?" This was getting tiring, and she wanted it to be done, in a way.
no subject
Looking up, he nodded to Sara and said, "I only require one more task, and then you may rest." Rising to his feet, Lexaeus moved over to a wall. Pressing a hidden panel, he cause a door to slide out of the wall and open to reveal a small closet. Turning back to Sara, Lexaeus indicated the closet and said, "Please step inside."
no subject
"I...I can't..." She said, actually taking a step away from the open door. "I'm sorry." She didn't know why she was apologizing, these people didn't need it.
no subject
"Yes, you can. You choose not to, out of fear of your past. It is that fear that paralyzes you, leaves your heart immersed in darkness when your natural state is light. If you wish to move beyond your past, you must first find the courage to face it," Lexaeus rumbled, his voice not containing any judgment, merely stating a fact.
no subject
"My past be damned."
no subject
"Very well then, you may return to your cell. I have no need for cowards who let their past cripple them. I am sure we will find a better subject shortly, and you will be free to go." He waved a hand in dismissal, his tone vaguely disgusted as he waved a hand, summoning more Nobodies that swayed at the edge of the room, ready to carry out his orders.
no subject
That word. She hated that word. Growling, she turned back towards the closet, memories of her father using 'coward' while hitting her when she was younger.
"I am not a coward." She said, eyes glinting with something as she made a fist, walking into the closet area, head held high. She'd prove that she wasn't a coward, like her father made her believe when she was younger.
no subject
Or calculated perfectly, but if he had expected this he gave no sign. Once she was actually in the closet, Lexaeus stood and moved to close the door. However, he had only just closed it when he opened it once again.
"That will be all for today, you may return to your cell."
