An entrance long overdue. [Active]
Character(s): Koromaru and whoever'd like to come say hi to the doggy.
Content: The canine member of S.E.E.S. makes his entrance into Paixao, not at all pleased.
Setting: The surrounding area of Vanaheim.
Time: Week one, afternoon.
Warnings: Uhh nothing yet. Stay tuned!
At first, things were very confusing, and he was relatively upset in more than one way. Anger, worry... The teenagers he was taken from were just about to engage in the biggest battle ever, against the strongest foe they'd ever faced, and here he was in this strange place. Even if he didn't participate directly in the fight, he wanted to be there to support them.
Now, things were just frustrating. He knew he was no where near Port Island, let alone Japan. Yeah, most of the S.E.E.S. kids had hair unlike many of the people in Japan, but he knew there was no chance in the world that there'd be so many--what was the word?--Aryan looking people that were actually Japanese.
That meant that this was an entirely different place.
His ears flicked again, pinning back as he continued down the street warily. The journal the woman at the gate gave him bounced lightly against his chest, though stilled with a final, quiet thump once he stopped to sniff the air. Things smelled so... fake in this Paixao place. The first patch of grass he saw actually glistened, and he'd just noticed the smiling sun up above him.
What in God's name was this city?

What in God's name was this city?

Not that this was the reason she was currently in the vicinity of the gates. It was just luck, really - there were few she wished to see and fewer she'd wish to see trapped in the cage. However, even with that, the fact that there was a dog not too far away was unusual even for this city.
"A lost pet, perhaps?"

He himself was more content with watching the people who had already entered the city. The line was a simple enough action, people moving through and getting what the gatekeepers gave; he preferred to watch confusion slightly more complex.
The sky pirate looked over as Fran spoke, immediately searching for whatever pet she had spoken of. It wasn't long before he saw the dog, as well as the journal around its neck. "Who knows? If that be the case, these gatekeepers seem to enjoy giving those journals of theirs out a little too much."

Without a second thought, the great, blue, genie zipped over toward the dog. “Don’t worry boy, Penny is safe from the ‘Green-Eyed Man’ thanks to you! Whether or not you’re safe from a big, blue, squishy hug is another, though. Come here, you! Hugs for everyone!”
Quickly scooping the dog up, he gave it a warm, loving hug. However, even the slightest idea regarding the canine turning on him and attacking had yet to occur to him as he held it close. “I could just eat you up!” he told Koromaru, unconcerned about Fran or Balthier’s reactions to his actions. If anything, the scene was probably enough to make them sick.

What he said made absolutely no sense to him. Penny? Green-Eyed Man? Staring at him, clearly baffled and alarmed, he tried to figure out how exactly to respond to this... very strange man. Thing. Didn't smell like a Shadow, or feel like one, but he certainly wasn't a human.
"... could you please put me down?" he said, sounding somewhat disgruntled but mostly surprised that he'd been lifted up into the blue man's arms. The hug was nice, he wouldn't admit, but he had no idea who any of these people were. (One of them even had rabbit ears.) Though, Genie didn't give off the feeling that he meant any harm, so he remained relaxed.

And try as she might she simply could not find words for the scene that followed, instead letting her silence speak for her.

And, while he didn't understand half of what Genie had said, he was somewhat surprised to find that he understood the dog completely. Really, he thought he'd learned to wait before coming to conclusions...
"I have a feeling he's not quite who you think he is," the sky pirate finally said to the blue man with an amused smirk.

Sharing a sheepish smile with Koromaru, he carefully placed him back on the ground. With a simple flick of his wrist, a biscuit appeared in his hand, which he immediately offered to the dog in hopes of lightening his mood. The canines presents excited Genie, and much like a child, he was committed to stay with it as long as possible. It was because of this he seated himself next to Koromaru and with his free hand decided to pet him gently on the head.
His eyes slowly traveled back to the two colleagues, still standing in front of him. "You can't deny the fact he's cute though. Look at that face~! Or that he speaks our language incredibly well. Either that or my canine is improving, which is saying a lot because I haven't been practicing."

Letting him pet him while he ate the treat--he wasn't about to talk with his mouth full--he flicked his ears, moving to sit down and look at the three of them again. "It's not your canine," he began, the marks above his eyes creasing as though he was furrowing his brow. "I've never been able to speak like this, before I came here."

"One of the oddities of this place, perhaps?"
It was the only answer that really made any sense at the moment.

"An oddity, perhaps, though it makes things quite a bit easier on us both, doesn't it? I suppose that's one thing to be thankful for. No more of those pesky language barriers to worry about." He half-shrugged and walked closer, looking between the man and the dog.
How strange that these oddities failed to surprise him anymore. Maybe he had seen too many of them back on Ivalice itself to be affected, or else it was just too easy to adapt in this domed city. Talking dogs and blue, magic men were the least of his worries.
"I would assume a few explanations and questions are in order."

Suddenly, in a flash of blue smoke, a tall filing cabinet appeared beneath Genie. At first he appeared as though he hadn’t noticed it, but after a brief moment he flew down and threw open one of the drawers. Hopefully no one walking by would find themselves in its path, for the drawer was incredibly long to a point that seemed simply unrealistic.
“I’ve searched every atlas, consulted every map!” he explained, hovering over the drawer while throwing numerous books, scrolls, and historical documents out. “The closest thing I found was in a Portuguese dictionary. Apparently ‘Paixao’ refers to a compelling feeling or emotion, among a few other things that I don’t quite think are appropriate for our audience at home. I always imagined it to mean wealth or beauty, but I suppose they had their reasons for calling it- Oh, this is where my ice skates were! I was looking for these.”
Turning back to look at the group, he held them up proudly before throwing the drawer closed again, the filing cabinet disappearing instantly upon the drawer fully closing, as well as his ice skates.
“So, what questions and answers did you have in mind, sir?”
