They all gravitate towards trouble [Active]

Characters: Donna Noble, Rose Tyler, and later on Jenny
Content: Poking around City Hall, and then running from Heartless.
Setting: Starting near City Hall, then running through god knows where.
Time: Afternoon-ish
Warnings: Nothing yet.

What? It seemed like just as good as any place to check out. Perfectly safe of an idea – with two. Two fantastic human minds; only the best for companions. She was going to suggest maybe they check out a café, but the last time she had done that, she still managed to find trouble. So Rose figured that it could work like reverse psychology - find the possible-trouble, thus avoid trouble!

She told Donna with a grin, "You know, City Hall's gotten kind of weird. I mean, it had been a bit weird beforehand, 'cause nothing seemed to be getting done there. Now? That big wall of thorns... and the Disney fellas? Pretty weird."

And with a knowing, shared grin, that was how the rush across Paixao began.

As they had got closer, they had slowed down. Maybe to actually check out some of the sights, or an instinctual knowing that preserving their energy would be a good idea.

Donna took a look around the city as they slowed down, finally having a chance to actually look. She'd only seen the area near the gate she'd entered in, then the interior of the TARDIS after she'd realized the Doctor was there.

"Now that looks like it came straight from one of those Disney movies..." Donna said, pointing towards the wall of thorns outside city hall. She took a look upward to see if there was a place that they stopped.

"Oi, which one was it though?"

Rose paused, looking up at the wall of thorns with surprise and interest. She imagined that it would be smaller, but then she supposed it wouldn't really keep out unwanted company very well if they designed it that way. And what a quick designing it had been! How long had they been in the city before they had this all figured? And under the Organization's noses?

In an odd way, it reassured Rose. That things could happen without the Organization noticing. Surely they could do something so secretive as well?

"Yeah, it does," Rose commented, heading closer. "Donno which one, though. I was already getting them mixed up. Genie - the Genie, ha! - had to correct me. Guess I'm not so great at remembering much other than the Lion King." Which was only because it reminded her of the Doctor and made her giggle.

"Hmmm." Donna thought for a moment. "I think it was Sleeping Beauty or something like that." She said, musing on that possibility. "What does it mean? Can the characters be here?" That would be interesting, at least. But with some of the people she'd already met, she wouldn't put it past this place.

"Wait, you talked with the Genie? From Aladdin?" She turned towards the other woman. That was amazing.

"Well you can't forget about Timon from The Lion King. I think he's the most torn about this City Hall thing. He was pretty determined to become mayor." Which was just funny. And weird. And... well... she could've seen it work out, until now.

Rose grinned. "Same Genie! I need to have lunch with him sometimes. I can't believe this city." She paused, distracted by what she thought was movement around the thorns. Maybe it was just her imagination. "Oh, and I don't think any of them know about having movies and stuff. They just... have lived. Like us, I suppose."

"Was he really?" Donna asked, starting to squint a bit at the thorns. She could have sworn she saw something. Then she shook her head and looked upwards again.

"Like in another world, no?" She could somewhat understand that, after traveling so much, to so many places. "Could you imagine that though, living through a movie, or something like that? It would be interesting."

"I think I woulda voted for him," she said with a laugh. Suspiciously she moved closer to the thorns; it was really beginning to both her now. "I think it'd be a bit weird, you know? Living life, and then finding out one day that some people made a movie about it." She wrinkled her nose. "What if they portrayed you with the wrong scenes or something?"

She froze. No, she wasn't going crazy. She definitely saw something that time. "...Donna?" she questioned quietly, wondering if the other woman noticed it as well.

"I missed all that, I guess. I didn't see anything like that when I checked that network" She patted the pockets of her jacket, realizing now that she had left her journal in the TARDIS. She shrugged, figuring Rose probably had hers.

"I think it would be a bit strange...especially if people recognized you, like we're doing with Timon right now." She smiled a bit, before she looked back into the thorns.

"You aren't seeing something in there, are you?"

Well, it would sorta make them a celebrity, one way or another. The Genie certainly seemed to enjoy the attention. But then, he was the Genie and he just... knew things. A lot of things. Kind of like the Doctor, she thought.

Rose only looked to Donna on the peripheral, not wanting to shift her vision too much away from what she was seeing. Eyes? Maybe. Sort of... weird, moving shadows - and in a wall of thorns that weren't moving themselves, heh, well, that just shouldn't be happening at all.

She swallowed, and muttered, "It's something, alright." And then she squinted, watching darkness move across the ground's surface, and took several step backs. "Y'know, Donna, I think we overstayed our welcome already."

Trespassers. Ones with beating hearts of light, ones that needed to be drowned by darkness and find that evil within their hearts that all humans - nearly all life - shared.

They rose up from the shadows on the ground, sprung forward quickly and nearly catching a claw into one of them, had she not stepped away soon enough. No matter. This one burned so much and needed to be overtaken; towards the pair came two other dark shadows across the ground, bleeding close to the pair of light-hearted women, and they burst from the ground - two more Neoshadows - and they lurched to attack the pair.

And if they ran, the three Heartless would follow. Hound their hearts.

How could they escape?

Seeing the creatures pretty much sprout up from the ground, Donna took a few steps backwards, gasping. She'd never seen anything like those things before. Half of her wondered what they were, and the other half had her normal reaction regarding creatures like this.

"I agree. I think it's time to run!" Donna shouted, reaching out to grab for Rose's wrist before turning to start running in the other direction.

Like always.

Rose had been having a bit of a Doctor moment. Observe the strange and unusual creatures, find them a bit fascinating, generally right about when such creatures wanted to tear them apart. Donna's grab to her wrist was a snap back into reality and Rose was pretty damn glad for it. "You got that right!" she said and stumbled to get moving.

She had been in the city longer than Donna, but she hardly knew it well at all, and she tried to recall where exactly they were and where they could head that would be safe. Well, of course, the TARDIS was pretty much their best bet, but she had lost track of thins, now only focusing (with small glances over her shoulder) at the strange shadows that would follow them along the ground and then jumping back out at them when they were nearly close enough to claw them.

"Not sure how long we can just outrun 'em!" she called to Donna, although she was pretty sure the other companion already was getting that feeling...

((Presume Heartless are still trying to nab them. nomnomnom. *doesn't care when they run across Jenny :D*))

Jenny had been searching around the area when she spotted the two women running towards her. One she could easily recognize as Donna, even from a distance, but the other was a girl she didn't know. Still, even more eye-catching to her was the fact that they were running from something.

"Donna!" She called out, energetically waving to make sure she was seen before the soldier in her began to start taking over. Though even that could not erase the smile on her face at seeing someone familiar.

Looking father behind them, she could spot the...shadows? Was that what they were? But why were they getting chased by shadows? Just looking at them made her curious. What were they called? What was their purpose? And why were they chasing Donna and the other girl?

It was difficult to pull her mind away from the questions, but with effort, she managed it, and put herself into a fighting stance, her hand moving to the handle of her gun, ready to pull it out in only an instant to cover the two running girls if it came down to it.

"Jenny!" Donna shouted, slowing down when she saw the familiar face. She had talked to her before on the journals, but hadn't realized that she would see the girl so soon. It took her a second to realize that Jenny was going to try to fight those things.

"Oh no no no, less fighting, more running." She said, reaching for the girls arm. "The TARDIS is nearby, we just need to get there. Come on!" she knew it was somewhere, she was just hoping they would run into it before the shadows got to them.

Well, that was one way to meet someone new! Especially the Doctor's (apparent) daughter, which was still a very strange concept... and how the girl had explained it went completely over Rose's head. Complicated or not, like Donna, Rose hadn't been expecting to see the girl, let alone while running from, well, whatever those things were? Heartless? Were these what Maleficent had been referring to?

"Hi there, nice to meet you!" Rose said quickly, steps ahead of the other pair now. She remembered where they were now, and knew the way back to the TARDIS; a relief, really. "Those things won't be able to get into the TARDIS," she added, then caught sight of another Heartless leaping their way. "Run!" And she was on the move again.

Jenny snapped straight into a run the moment Donna touched her arm, taking the hint, not that she really minded the running. Actually, the running was her favorite part. "What are those things? I've never seen anything like them."

When she heard Rose speak to her, Jenny responded with a bright smile. "Pleasure to meet you as well!" She said quickly and energetically. The way she was acting, it was as if they weren't running from anything at all.

"They're no good. That's what they are." Donna said, following closely behind Rose. "I have no idea what they really are, but I don't intend on asking one." She said, taking a glance behind her to see how far the black things were behind them. They weren't far, but they weren't really close either. This was just grand.

"Oi, how far do you think we are, Rose?" She shouted ahead of her, trying to think of how much more running they were going to have to do at this point.

"It's not far! We'll get there in time... just..." She paused, glancing around quickly, judging alleyways before taking one quick gaze behind her, then once again bolting down a different alleyway. "This is a shortcut, it should bring us out right behind the TARDIS!" She fumbled around to try and find where she put her key, mumbling in annoyance to herself over it. Now of all times she was having trouble getting to it... jeez...

She remembered the question of what the creatures were, and finally answered now that she was sure they were home free. "I'm not quite sure what," although she was sure she had seen it mentioned somewhere on the journals... "but they only started showing up after Maleficent and that gang!"

"Meleficent?" Jenny asked curiously. She wanted all the information she could get about this place. After all, the more information she had, the better.

"Maleficent." Donna started explaining, checking over her shoulder. "She's the villain in a movie Rose and I have back at home." She noticed Rose's fumbling with something, and reached into her pocket, retrieving a chain with a key on it.

"I have my key, just get us there!" She shouted up to Rose, pulling out her key for the TARDIS.

Rose nodded to Donna, and skirted down a thin alleyway, relieved to see the TARDIS up ahead and practically slamming against its side. For a moment she thought they had stopped being followed; the shadows around them all seemed natural, and it was unlikely they were going to suddenly swallow them up whole, but Rose's relief was only short-term.

"Donna, hurry," she said quickly, eyes seeing the irregular pool of darkness slip towards them. She didn't want to think what would happen if they got a hold of them.
