Lost by the Bell (Active)
Character(s): Shalua and anyone around
Content: New arrival, very confused new arrival
Setting: Muspelheim Gate
Time: Midday
Warnings: Snark mostly and pessimism.
Fate was a cruel mistress for Shalua. She couldn't think of any better way to explain it as she headed through the gates with the handy little device they'd been giving out at the doors. She had no idea what it was but it looked like something she could figure out when she wanted to take the time to do so. Right now, however, she was agitated. Agitated and annoyed. She'd come so close to finding another clue, the first in ten years, as to what might have happened to her sister, only to get taken somewhere else entirely and have that clue slip right from her grasp.
Ironic... or completely diabolical.
Shalua sighed a little and adjusted her lab coat with her good arm so it fit a little more securely over her mechanical arm. She could feel her gun in the pocket of her coat and its familiarity and weight was a nice comfort to her. She took several breaths as she glanced around and tried to figure out where the best place to go would be. First thing was first: food and a place to sleep.

Over time as well, Kairi could recognize when people were knew in the city. Of course when they came through the gate, it normally meant that they were (on occasion people did leave to the fields and come back though). Some became quickly familiar though, and others Kairi liked to help out, sometimes for no reason at all.
So when she saw the woman, she edged over carefully, hands folded behind her back, a friendly smile on her face. "Hello, miss. Do you need any help? I'm guessing you're new to Paixao."
no subject
"Is that the name of this place?" came the answer, guarded, but calm. She was still holding onto the anger she felt at having been denied that one tiny clue about her sister. "I don't suppose you could tell me anything about 'Paixao'."
She had yet to say she was thrilled about finding herself anywhere, but it would be more than a little obvious that she was unhappy.

He was, however, going to wander on closer. Nothing saying he couldn't get in on the conversation, noting the closed left eye and ID badge as he drew nearer. He couldn't quite make out what it said but it certainly wasn't ShinRa make, that much he could tell.
"Depends on what you want t' know," he commented with an easy grin. Let the chaos (if any were going to happen) begin.

"Hi, Reno!" she greeted with a smile and a wave, and then looked back at the newer woman. "There is quite a lot about the city... narrowing it down would help some, actually."
It didn't cross her mind that the two might know one another, or something of the like.

Reno, huh? That was his name? At least her badge would state her name clearly once he got close enough to see it and what organization she worked for. The only thing that wasn't clearly visible was her mechanical arm, which was she hiding under the lab coat, as always.
Her attention was stolen by the man's words and she eyed him carefully. "Anything you can tell me," came the response. As someone who usually delved in research, she liked to know as much as possible about things. "Perhaps telling me how long I'll be here would be a good way to start."
no subject
"Hey Kairi," he answered, pulling on of his hands out of his pockets long enough to wave back, before moving on to the rest of the conversation.
"Depends on how long can you afford t' stay. An' if you can find somethin' no one else has been able t' reliably find. Might be awhile b'fore you get back."
no subject
"There's always a chance that the longer we're here, the quicker we'll find a way out," she commented, as if it would make the news less of a shocker. "But you could... be here awhile. A long while."
no subject
"I guess my next order of business is finding a place to stay while I'm here."
She was still watching the Turk out of the corner of her eye. She had no idea if he was one she had worked with years and years ago or not. Either way, she had no idea what would happen. As long as he didn't dislike the WRO or pull a gun on her, she wouldn't pull hers on him.
no subject
But that was a thought for another time.
"There's some hotelish things around here. You oughta be able t' find a place t' stay at one'f 'em."
no subject
"And don't worry about currency," Kairi added, thinking it was one of those important points, "the citizens here take anything. But they really like things that are... shiny. So like... tree leaves. And grass. That all works. There are plenty of places to stay." Nicer places too, like where Kairi stayed. But... Kairi had been here for awhile. She deserved it.

While her expression wasn't particularly upbeat at all, it also wasn't upset or anything. Her eye hadn't lost its wary look, but it was significantly less threatened and more cautious.
"All right. Then I should find one of these places." She'd ask more questions later. "Thank you for your help." For now, she'd wander around for a little and find somewhere while she was at it.

Or there was one in his anyway and he didn't see any reason that suggested that the journal he'd gotten was any different from anyone else's. He hadn't even messed with it much, for a change. Then again it worked just fine the way it was. Which okay, yeah, hadn't stopped him before but whatever. He hadn't had to pay for it, so it was all good in his book.

She began to walk away, then paused in her step and tossed a look back over her shoulder. "Stay clear of City Hall. It isn't safe." Although... a lot of the city wasn't necessarily safe, but that seemed like what needed to most mention right now. She could say 'stay weary of people in black robes' but at this point in time, Organization XIII stopped making themselves so obvious. Kairi didn't think she had met any of them, yet...
"Take care," she added then, with a small wave.
((Kairi's off now, 'less like... something drastic tries to stop her or something XD))
no subject
"I'm going to look around," she told Reno then. "I have a little searching to do."
If he didn't stop her, she'd walk off, in a different direction from Kairi. She had a girl and a place to stay to search for after all.

So he'd simply be heading off in his own direction, no doubt looking for some other conversation to worm his way into or some poor citizen to pester.
