Start of Darkness [Active]
Character(s): Karst, Marisa
Content: Karst goes to see if it's true that Auntie Unde's has vanished, and her thoughts of her sister get more and more vivid...
Setting: Auntie Unde's (H7)
Time: Late Evening, after dinner
Warnings: Possible Heartless attacks, possible Touhou-style violence, etc.
Auntie Unde's was a one-stop shop between the center of Paixao and Niflheim Gate. Not surprisingly, Karst had become a rather frequent patron of theirs in the months (had it really been so long? it was too easy to lose track of time when the seasons never seemed to change) since she'd come here, since most of her travels were between central Paixao and Niflheim Gate.
So it bothered her a lot to hear that Auntie Unde's had been one of a group of buildings that had mysteriously vanished shortly after Sin's defeat. It was almost as much a problem as the hints of blonde hair and red-and-white dress she'd thought she saw several times over the afternoon and during her meal and discussion with Lenne and Shuyin, but which hadn't responded at all to her discreet attempts to signal.
By the time she hopped off the train and started making her way toward Auntie Unde's the latter was no longer just a hint. Karst could clearly see her sister walking just ahead of her, occassionally looking back with her usual proud smirk. If she listened hard enough, she could even hear Menardi taunt her to keep up, before vanishing into a cluster of locals long enough to turn up even farther ahead the next time Karst saw her.
"You always were the slow one, Karst."
"I'm trying," she gasped, breaking into a run and ignoring the strange stares that those around her gave her. "I'm trying, please wait! Slow d-" She tripped over the pointed toes of her own shoes, and when she recovered her footing, her sister was gone again.
And she was at the store she'd come to see. Was that even important to her now?

It was really... boring, Marisa thought.
So she was out doing what she typically did to fill time when bored, fly around and try to start trouble.
She must've been up there too long, because she could swear she was starting to see faeries and dolls out of the corners of her eyes. Marisa rubbed her eyes and took her broom closer to the ground just in time to hear someone calling out, "I'm trying, please wait! Slow d-".
The witch turned to see a redheaded figure standing up from the cobblestone pass and since there wasn't anyone else around worth addressing Marisa could see, she assumed herself to have been the one addressed.
Her feet clapped on the flat stones of the path with a loud smack as she dismounted the bamboo broom.
"What's up, ze?"
((ooc: sorry for taking so long to post. orz. Next one will be much faster.))

The store was right where Karst had left it. If not for the confused stares and mutters of the townsfolk, it might have never disappeared. Well, that and the fact that it was now garishly decorated with flowers. As if to add her own mischief to Paixao's usual mayhem, Menardi chose this moment of distraction to perform her own disappearing act again, leaving Karst alone and surrounded only by the locals and the bizarre storefront she was so familiar with.
It was closed now, of course. The stylized sun was setting already, briefly flashing off pale hair in the window of a nearby building (how had she gotten in there?).
A noise and a greeting from behind caused Karst to whirl in alarm, suddenly regretting that she'd left her scythe in the restaurant after dinner (she could hear Menardi taunting her about that, "How do you expect to fight with no weapons, my silly little sister?"). But the girl with the broom didn't seem dangerous, just curious... and her clothes and large hat were just odd enough to hint that she was another outsider stuck in Paixao.
"Excuse me?"

"You seemed like you were in an awful hurry to wave me down, ze~ So what's up? What can Marisa do for ya, ze?"
It wasn't much of a sales pitch, but why bother, the customer was practically tripping over herself to hire her!

It took a moment for Karst to figure out that Marisa had heard her calling out to- "Oh, that wasn't for you. I saw my sister, but she..." Where had Menardi gotten to, anyway? She'd been maybe in that window over there, and then... "... she got away. She's been doing that all evening."
Maybe that was just the story of Karst's life. Menardi was there, and then gone without warning.
