Yo-ho-ho and a bottle... [active]
Characters: Captain Jack and who-so-ever deems fit to meddle in his affairs
Content: Jack does some meandering
Setting: Vanaheim gate
Time: Late afternoon
Jack found himself quite not aboard his ship, and quite not in the company of his crew. It was a strange thing, waking up from... whatever it was he'd woken up from- perhaps drinking or... oar. Smacked with an oar. Yes, that would very well do it, wouldn't it?
Making sure his effects were in place, he stepped forward, a neat little box shoved into his hands by a fairly well-dressed gentleman who seemed to have no qualms about giving things away. Some part of the pirate would have liked to have stolen it rather than received it without second glance, but the man's words struck a chord.
"Welcome to Paixao."
"Ah, that's all fine and dandy, mate, but shall I have my crew back? Ship's in need of a captain, and that'd be myself... if I wasn't by my onesies on this one." Jack pulled a face, shuffled through as he was to enter Paixao proper. Pressing his hat further onto his head, he kept the little journal and pamphlets in the other, intent on finding out how much they were worth. Of course, his next objective after that would be a well-mulled drink. He just needed to find a pub...

Of course, this was hardly to say that the area was entirely devoid of interesting things. On the other hand, the same worked the other way as well. Unintentionally, perhaps, but there was at least one person watching Jack's stumbling approach with mild amusement. Or what might be considered mild amusement, anyway. It was certainly a fairly easy-going smile, as far as smiles went.
"Looking for something?" he asked, as Jack approached.

(ooc: foppery abounds! also, keywords)The pirate blinked, then grinned as if he'd already found what he was looking for. He sauntered a few more steps before coming to a halt, a bare glance spared at the overdone clothing that looked more like a commodore's ceremonial garb than anything, and waved a vague gesture with one hand.
"Can't say as I am," he said, his drawl lengthening the words. "But if you happen to find a fine bunch of someones with a boat-, er, ship, that'd be mine." Taking the opportunity, he sidled closer, his disregard for a personal bubble quite apparent as he came nearly nose-to-nose with the foppish man. "Unless you happen to have a set of sails and rigging in that coat of yours."

"As for ships, I've yet to see any in the city, regardless of owner. This is one hand where you'll have to do without her."
There wasn't enough sky for a ship. Or enough water, come to think of it.

Wait. Were those well-and-true sparkles amongst the shine of the city that he saw? What a neat little development. And when he had naught but a few coin on him, at that.
Jack grinned at Setzer again, baring gold-filled teeth. "Well, mayhap I should leave you to your... standing, shall I? Must be off." Again, a lean close enough to nearly touch noses. "Crew to find, and ship to man, savvy?"
Quite elegantly, for all his earlier flailing, he slipped around Setzer's side, headed toward the jewel-bearing trees, a neat little happy hop-skip in his saunter.

"I'm afraid you're as landbound as I am for this hand. A crew would be dead in your hand."
Unless he wanted to deal with a crew for a ship he didn't have.

Jack sighed, stopped, and then turned as if it pained him to do so. That was, however, far after he'd already concocted quite the brilliant idea, if he did say so himself.
"So," he said to the other man, sauntering (slightly sideways) back toward him. "I'll stop off lookin' for me crew, aye? Shall I make a proposition, then? A new crew. Pick and choose, best of the barrel, the whole apple bushel. And you'll help me, aye, mate? Loot and a title in it for ya... First Mate. Savvy?"

"I'd sign on, but I've already got a ship of my own waiting for me back home. I'm not looking for another."
Not unless it was a ship here, something he'd yet to see.

"Suit yourself, mate. More for me!" With that, he turned rather jauntily, and kept up the air as he swaggered his way away.

"Ware to your cards. Not everyone here plays fair."
