Get Down, Baby! [active/open]

Character(s):  Akutare and any other party-goers
Content:  To keep himself entertained, the Dark Hero decided to throw a party.
Setting:  The Wild Ginger
Time:  Late Afternoon going on into the night
Warnings: None as of yet... but I'd suggest you not be the last one out of there.

[Note: Since there's probably going to be a bunch of people in this post, I figure it'd be best to break it up into mini-threads.  Just make your post in here and others will reply to it or make a completely different post if your character is gathered somewhere else.  Feel free to thread hop in between and have fun~!]

While he waited for everyone to arrive, Akutare lounged in one of the chairs, fiddling with his journal and pointedly ignoring the disapproving looks from the man nearby.  It had taken the demon a long time to convince the owner of the establishment to allow him to throw this party (especially since it was so sudden), but he'd managed to get it done, promising the owner that everything would be paid for along with a bonus for all of the people who happened to be working that night.

Now that he thought on it, it had actually been a lot easier than Akutare had expected.  Not that he was complaining.  He probably just happened to get a particularly gullible and greedy group of suckers on his hands.  All the better for him!  Still, he wondered just what kind of currency they had in this place, anyway.  Everything seemed shiny enough that they probably had something that glowed or something like that.  Maybe.  He guessed he should have asked something like that when he just came in.  Oh well, he'd manage somehow.

"Aaaaand posted!" he noted to himself, pressing the button and waiting for the responses and people to roll on in.  Haha, this was an awesome idea.

It may not be amusing to Akutare, but it was funny to NiGHTS, at least. "Lots of people think I'm odd, if that helps," replied NiGHTS, perfectly innocent, "but no one's accused me of being a hallucination for a long time." Most of the people who did that were adult Visitors who hadn't realized they'd fallen asleep and were dreaming.

"Sure!" NiGHTS smiled, crossing his fingers behind his back. What Akutare didn't know couldn't hurt him, right? Besides, most of NiGHTS pranks were harmless, anyway.

Most.

NiGHTS grinned. "So am I!" he replied cheerfully, giving Akutare a mischievous wink. Of course, it was only settled until NIGHTS felt playful again, as it were, but Akutare certainly didn't need to know that.

It was so much more fun that way.

Kairi made her way in a bit, glancing around at the crowd before pointing towards a fairly noticeable figure. "That guy, I think. Akutare. He's a bit odd." She chuckled at the thought. With a small pout, she sunk back. "I should have invited Naminé to come... I don't think the girl gets out much," she said, more to herself when the thought crossed her mind. Although the small girl probably wouldn't have accepted. When Kairi had mentioned introducing her to Sora, she fervently passed on it. Too bad.

NiGHTS shrugged. "I just felt like it," he replied. "I haven't really been doing much around here, and a party sounded like fun." Besides, Akutare had proven amusing to mess around with. "I don't need to eat, though." Even though he could eat, if he wanted, it wasn't something he did too often.

"Me?" NiGHTS giggled, gesturing innocently to himself. "I'm a dream, of course!" Well, nightmare, but Akutare didn't need to know that. "I came from the Night Dimension, where dreams come from."

Kariya had never been a huge partying kind of guy. But there was one pretty reliable way to make him show up, and that was the promise of refreshments.

He'd showed up fashionably late, of course, although not late enough for the spread to be picked over yet. This was one of those things he was good at. He didn't bother with a plate, just hovered in the general vicinity of the table (not literally - he'd hidden his wings for now) and took stuff as it interested him.

Wasn't too terrible a spread, either. "Check it out," he said to the nearest bystander, who just happened to be Lust. "Meatball on a stick. They thought of everything." (Then he bit the meatball in half.)

((orz I meant to join this thread forever ago. sorryyyyy))

"A man of simple tastes, hmm?" she said, smiling at the man as she studied him while trying not to look like she was. A bit of a slouch, casual dress, hair that seemed to defy gravity to some degree--aside from that third bit, she had to wonder what had drawn him here. Maybe it was the food.

For her part, she did not select anything off of the table, although she did give it a cursory glance. She was more interested in mingling than eating. And since Paixao was such an unknown place, well, who knew who had power?

So she would entertain this man and try to learn what she could from him.

Sora stood on tiptoe to look around the crowd and at the person Kairi was pointing out. He had quite a hairstyle--and purple eyebrows--but it was nothing more than a momentary observation to Sora. Maybe he had just gotten used to stuff like that.

But then he had something more important to focus on.

"Naminé? She's here?" Sora gasped, his mood changing to a mixture of surprise, happiness, and seriousness. If she was here, and wasn't part of Kairi... What had happened?

Was time really this messed up here?

[identity profile] itsbeanpaste.livejournal.com 2008-09-14 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Kariya gave a noncommittal "Mm" in reply. Granted, it was probably true, if you thought about it. He discreetly sized her up at the same time, and came to the conclusion that she could really work the sexy black dress look.

As an afterthought, he plucked another meatball off the plate and offered it to her. "Want one?"

[identity profile] ladyepithymia.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Lust shook her head. This man was a hard read--his face seemed lethargic enough, but she couldn't be certain it wasn't a mask. But she would find out soon enough.

"So, what brings you here?" she asked. "The food, I take it?"

She smiled pleasantly, folding her arms across her chest.

[identity profile] itsbeanpaste.livejournal.com 2008-09-15 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, more for him. "Pretty much," he said, popping it into his mouth. He was well-practiced in the art of ulterior motives, sure, but right now, off the clock as he was, it just wasn't his number-one priority. "Yourself?" he added, before he was quite done chewing.

[identity profile] ladyepithymia.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Not much for manners, was he? "Oh, just seeing who else has found their way here," she said, leaning against a nearby wall. "I haven't been here long."

Really, only a few days. But things were sluggish in a case like this, when she had been removed from her tasks and was reestablishing her base of knowledge. And she had a lot of knowledge to replace.

"How long have you been here?"

[identity profile] myfearsmylies.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Kairi had snagged some food from a table, sitting up next to it and turning to blink at Sora. "Huh? You know her?" Naminé had expressed not wanting to see Sora, even though Kairi thought that they'd get along great... Was it because they actually had met before? Had something happened?

She frowned, looking uncertain and deep in thought. She never would have expected something like that... and poor Naminé, since Kairi kept trying to insist it... But no! Maybe she was just over thinking things...

[identity profile] keychainheart.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah! She's--ah--you're--" He had no idea how to explain it. "She helped us get home!" That was true; he could cover the Nobody thing later.

If she was here, then the Organization having control of this city was somehow more credible; maybe Nobodies could come back after they had been created once? Sora wasn't fond of the idea of having to beat down the Organization every few months. He wanted to go back home at some point, and be with his friends.

"How long has she been here?"

[identity profile] itsbeanpaste.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
At a party this lightly attended? It wasn't exactly a representative sample, but whatever.

Kariya shrugged. "Coupla days," he answered truthfully. Both had been hella busy for a vacation, but at least the first one had been fun. It turned out Uzuki really was serious about the ramen shop, as he was finding out the hard way.

[identity profile] myfearsmylies.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
She's her what? Sora wasn't making any sense...

But if the girl had helped them out sometime in her future, then she supposed it made some sense. Still, she knew that she was missing something more than ever now. She hated being left out of the picture..

"I'm not really sure," Kairi answered. "Longer than I have. With um... Repliku? Yeah..." That was certainly odd too. She had really thought for a moment that Riku was back... but it hadn't been him.

[identity profile] ladyepithymia.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
Not even as long as she'd been here. Pity. But perhaps this conversation wouldn't be as useless as it seemed to be; after all, any sort of ties were good. What use was a network of two or three people?

"Anything interesting happen in those couple of days?" she asked.

Perhaps if she just kept him talking, he would say something of interest.

[identity profile] keychainheart.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Repliku?" That name got a blank look, although Sora wondered if he should have recognized it. Perhaps Namine knew who that was? He needed to talk to her. But if she had known he was in Paixao before he did--Kairi must have told her, right?--then why hadn't she come on her own?

All the more reason to find her.

But if Kairi had been here for--months, she'd said?--then Namine... "She must have been here a long time, then."
