A Being of Solitude [Completed]

Character(s): Rozalin and anyone else?
Content: Rozalin arrives as the gate, but is not herself. (More like this.)
Setting: Joutenheim Gate
Time: Late Night
Warnings: D2 Spoiler and Rozy is HIGHLY DANGEROUS right now. FYI XD;

Confusion was the first thing that hit her, as she found herself on the ground. Slowly she rose, floating into the air as energy surrounded her. This... was not where she been. Had she been summoned?

Where is everyone?

Alone. She just wanted to be left alone!

I'm alone?

Someone had to have summoned her here. The fool would pay for this disturbance!

The stray thoughts were silenced as she turned her red eyes turned to the gate that loomed before her through the darkness of the night. The near full moon in the sky gave off only just enough light to show the sillouette of the structure. She could sense someone was there.

The gate guard sat in his booth, unawares of the approaching figure.

"Are you my enemy?"

The voice made him jump a mile. "Sorry, didn't see you there!" He spluttered, clumsily grabbing a journal, accidently turning it on, while grabbing a pen. "Name plea--"

The guard cut off as he looked up to see the women floating before him. Dark energy swirled around her as she fixed her glowing gaze upon him. He jumped to his feet, backing back from the counter of the booth.

"I am a being of solitude. Eternal nothingness will come to those who linger."

The guard didn't need to be told twice. "N-Nevermind!" he spluttered, before he fled the gate at top speed, running for his life, leaving the overlord to float there. She sensed no real power from the fleeing guard. They were likely not the one responsible for her summoning. Who was?

Or could it be she was sent here? The fool had been eliminated, there was no questioning that. Who else could it have been? One of those others?

Betrayed once more? Did they really betray her? They couldn't have, could they? He wouldn't... Always betrayed. Used and betrayed. No one could be trusted.

Alone. She desired to be alone. I am alone...

The gate and journal were left behind as she floated through the gate. Someone was responsible for this, and she would find them.

Kid had just... gone around in a circle. Again. Okay, so maybe she wasn't as good at finding her way around this place as she thought. No matter; she was getting a feel for the town and would soon be able to find a place, she was sure.

Her cheerful, confident thoughts came to a screeching halt when she saw the woman by the gate. She stared, her hand automatically going to the knife at her hip. The woman seemed Wrong.

"'Scuse me, sheila," she began cautiously, "are you all right?"

[identity profile] timestealer.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Kid raised an eyebrow, shifting herself cautiously - maybe this wasn't a good idea. Well, she already knew that, but there had to be some way she could walk out of this.

Besides running, of course. Something told Kid that wasn't the best of ideas; fleeing prey drew attention.

"Nah, I'm not yer enemy," Kid replied, noting the lack of true response.

... This would be a good time for Kid to get out of the way. "Me name's Kid," the girl responded, stepping aside - but there were people here, and this being could hurt them...

"Who're you, mate?" She had to make sure this person didn't hurt anyone, just in case. SHe had to.

... Right. Kid nodded, taking in the way the woman's tone was... off. Off, wrong, so wrong, but she had to work with this, somehow.

"People o' all sorts are bein' pulled in, y'know," she responded slowly, thinking to herself. "It must be whoever's in charge o' this place 'as got to be behind this - but that could be from behind the scenes. Ya'd best look carefully, anyway."

Adell had felt it, the arrival of a great power in Paixao. The amount of sheer power was worrying but what had been bothering Adell the most was how familiar it felt to him. It had filled him with a sense of dread and he wasn't sure why until he had checked the journals, confirming his suspicions.

It was Rozalin. Or well, the side Rozalin had shown in the battle against Laharl only a day before Adell had abruptly found himself in Paixao. Somehow it seemed even stronger now then it was on that day. Adell had wasted no time in dropping everything he was doing to run out into the night to find her.

It didn't take that much to do so. The post on the journal had made it clear she was at one of the gates and not to mention how the overwhelming power was like blood to sharks. He just hoped he would be there on time before there was a carnage.

It was a good thing he wasn't far from the Joutenheim Gate, where it felt like the source of the power was located, and with him running as fast as he could it didn't take long for him to get there.

He slowed to a halt once he arrived on the scene and from what he could see it seemed things were still relatively unharmed so far, that was a relief. He had made it on time. And sure enough, there was Rozalin. He'd recognize that back anywhere. He quickly picked up the pace again.

"Rozalin!!"

Kid watched the other look away, shrugging, and turned to leave herself; she had no interest in getting into trouble again so soon, after all, and she needed to get to an inn of some sort before it got even later than it already was.

Then she heard the voice and whirled around. "You know this sheila, mate?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. So people who got pulled into this strange place, however it happened, sometimes knew each other? IF that was the case, maybe Serge was around, so Kid could give him a good kick in the - well. That could wait a while, at least.

Adell halted a few feet away, he had caught her attention. Good. What he didn't expect to see was someone near Rozalin...unhurt. He was very glad the unknown girl was left untouched though. He was about to say something to her but...Sheila?

"Uh yeah..." he answered distractedly before glancing back at Rozalin. It didn't seem like a slap to the face would work this time. "Just leave her to me." He said, this time his voice sounded more confident and he hoped the girl would listen.

What had caused Rozalin to be like this again? Adell had no idea but he was intent on snapping her out of it. "No, it wasn't me." If he had the power to bring people here he would've brought his family already.

There might be a curse like the Fake Zenon's here but at least it seemed to act a whole lot slower. He could keep an eye on them if they were here but they weren't...and Adell had no idea what had become of them. He feared turning into a mindless citizen and forgetting all about them. However, now wasn't the time to worry about that. Rozalin was here and he had a promise to keep.

Adell frowned. Without knowing the cause he was uncertain of how to deal with this side of Rozalin now. Regardless he took a few steps closer despite the obvious danger, making sure he kept his own posture passive. It was clear he wasn't moving with the intention to harm in mind.

"What are you saying? I'm not your enemy. C'mon, snap outta it Rozalin!"

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're not alone," he replied firmly as he took another few deliberate steps closer. "What about your friends? They care about you." They may not be here right now but that didn't change the fact that they did. Nor did it change the fact that he cared. Possibly more than he'd ever like to admit out loud. Everyone was probably at home worrying about where they had gone.

He had to wake her up so they could find a way back together. Why was she so convinced she was alone and everything was her enemy?

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, you do have friends. You've got Taro, Hanako, Yukimaru and Tink." Each of them considered Rozalin a dear friend, of that he was sure. "And there's Etna..." Though he wasn't sure what to make of her. She liked Rozalin as far as Adell could tell, at least.

He looked her straight in the eye as he spoke, his gaze calm and confident, and took another step.

The bolt forced Adell to stop his advance. But he didn't move away to dodge it nor did he even attempt to block the attack, he let it hit him head-on. Sheer determination kept him standing in place, only his now sagged stance indicated that the bolt had hit him. Though after a small moment he raised his head again. The same confidence was still there.

"I will not fight you."

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
"I promised to protect you." Adell's answer was as simple as that. That was all there was to it. He always kept his promises, Rozalin should know. It wasn't his style to just go and break them.

Taking advantage of her confusion, he used the moment to close the distance between them. He paused once he stood in front of her before reaching out and pulling her into a tight embrace.

"I'm gonna say it again. You are not alone."

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
As if sensing the conflict she was having inside her, Adell tightened his embrace encouragingly. He could only hope this would work. He had no idea what else to do. He just wanted his Rozalin back, the one he had gotten so used to. He had missed his chance to be with her before when she was in Paixao but he wasn't going to lose her this time. He was going to make sure of that.

To his intense relief he was finally getting to her. Or at least so it seemed as she was hugging him back. But no....she was still talking like that. So he wasn't quite there yet. It wasn't enough. He was close though...so very close.

He pulled back so he could gaze into her eyes before speaking. "Stop talking. And trust this." With that said, he wrapped his arms around her once more before leaning in and kissing her.

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Adell perked up considerably when he realized just which Rozalin was staring at him. He had done it! Though slowly, it was also giving him a feeling of dread. He was going to have to deal with the consequences now, wasn't he? Those probably weren't going to be very pretty. He released his hold on her and took a careful step back.

"Well uh...it worked didn't it?" He scratched the back of his head almost sheepishly as he tried to figure out whether he should get ready to run or not. She hadn't pulled out her gun. Yet. That was good. Though he wasn't sure whether he wanted to wait until she did or not.

[identity profile] man-of-style.livejournal.com 2008-08-20 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Adell was ready to argue that it had been necessary to do so until she pulled out her gun. He was already backing up when she fired the shot, cringing at the sound the bullet made when it connected to metal. At least it hadn't been his head or some other part of his body. That was a small comfort, right?

He was expecting a shower of bullets next but no more shots were fired. It definitely took him by surprise she was just standing there. "R-Rozalin?" He tried carefully, hoping the sound of his voice wouldn't invoke her wrath again.
