There's a New Land [Complete]
Character(s): Sora, open
Content: Sora enters Paixao. Again. He does that a lot. He runs into Kairi.
Setting: Niflheim Gate
Time: morning
Warnings: none
When Sora stepped through the door, he was reasonably sure Destiny Islands would be on the other side. He was one hundred percent sure Riku would be with him. He was wrong on both counts. As the light overwhelmed him and he shielded his eyes, he felt the world shift and drop him unceremoniously on the dusty ground before a great dome. He spent a few moments just staring--this wasn't Destiny Islands, not by a long shot--before he finally came to his senses.
"Hey, Riku, do you know whe--"
He stopped abruptly, looking around wildly. Riku wasn't there. Spinning around as if perhaps Riku might be just behind his back, and he would see him if only he moved fast enough, he groaned aloud. How could this happen again? Everything had just worked out, and now who knew what world he was on? And he seemed to be on it alone.
Unless Riku was inside the dome? It was a possibility. Maybe he had just gone through a little before, and this place had a weird sense of time. Maybe Riku would be waiting somewhere inside and then they could go home together. They could build a gummi ship or something.
He stepped into line, noting with unease how similar everyone looked. He tried striking up a conversation with the others in line, but they all ignored him as if he were invisible. He was starting to wonder if he really was when it was his turn in line, and the man at the gate looked directly at him.
"Welcome to Paixao," the guard said, handing Sora a silver machine and some papers. "This is your journal. Enjoy your stay!"
So this world was Paixao. He glanced at the journal for a moment before looking back up at the guard. "Excuse me, did you see a boy with si--"
But the guard was already paying attention to the next blond in line. Sora sighed; he would have to do this himself. Pocketing the journal and papers, he stepped into Paixao.

The funny thing was, Kairi had recently been getting over realizing that once again, her pair of friends had disappeared. It wasn't as surprising this time; they always vanished around the same time as the other. But it seemed like along with them, the King was gone as well.
He must have had things to do, hm?
Kairi was wandering the Niflheim area, almost a stroll down memory lane - it was the gate she entered, after all, and she found herself coming back to it once and awhile. She hadn't even remotely figured that she would see anyone she knew (but then the last time she had found Cid).
Especially not -
No. It couldn't be!
This soon?Kairi stalked towards the familiar boy that was stepping into the city. Again. She didn't even know if he looked different than the last time he was here - she was caught up in things that she couldn't see him, and then, like that, he was gone.
Her greeting to him wasn't what it should have been. But she was frustrated. He kept leaving her here. It wasn't as though she didn't have any other friends, but it was Sora and Riku. They shouldn't keep doing this to her.
So instead of a happy-cheery-Kairi, Sora was affronted by a slap across his face and a yelling-upset-Kairi. "Sora! Will you knock this off already?! It's getting annoying! Stop. Disapearing!"
And then, still not giving the probably-confused-as-hell boy much of a chance, she pulled him into a hug.

And then she was hugging him, and he hugged her back, somewhat awkwardly.
"Why aren't you on Destiny Islands?" Sora asked finally, still so confused he couldn't think of anything else to ask.
no subject
"This city, Paixao, pulls in people from so many different worlds... and timelines. I've been... living here for months now, Sora," she told him carefully. It was still a bit strange that she almost accepting 'living here' now. It wasn't that bad. There were troubles, of course. But all worlds had their troubles, and Kairi knew how to survive.
no subject
"Months?" he echoed, eyes wide. "But I just saw you! It hasn't even been a day!"
How could he have disappeared for months? Had something happened to his memory?
no subject
She looked a bit sheepish of the fact, still not knowing why she had forgotten. Maybe it had been amnesia? That happened in the city before, randomly, to a bunch of people (including Sora). So maybe that...
"And then when I finally did, I found myself here." And later found him and Riku, and that Roxas guy... But they were all gone now. "And I've been here since. What do you remember?" She wanted to ask if he remembered anything about Paixao, but it was obvious that he didn't, even if he sat down and tried to focus.
no subject
Again. It was saddening, to think that he had come so close to returning home, only to be sent here. But if Kairi was here...
"Hey, have you seen Riku around?"
no subject
After a few moments, she took in a breath and looked back at him. "Well, Riku was here.." Twice. She cringed a bit. She needed to stop lapsing back to those thoughts. They wouldn't really help her much, here.
"Oh! I got it!" She perked up and looked proud with herself. "See, as I said, Paixao draws in all sorts of people. There also is... a tendency for people to randomly just disappear completely," this talk was accompanied by hand gestures, "and then later, the same person can appear - but they're never the one that was around previously... I mean, well, um... I guess it's the same person, but they're from a different part of their timeline!"
Oh boy, she was probably giving Sora a headache. "So Riku's been here a few times. And... so have you." He would be her fourth. "And um... Some people that come here have died before... like, ah... a lot of the Organization." She swallowed. That part might be the hardest to accept.
no subject
None of this made much sense; it was making his head hurt. He had been here before, more than once. And so had Riku. But then they... Left? How? And now he was back, obviously, but he couldn't remember ever being here.
"What about Donald and Goofy?"
no subject
But if it happened to the others... then it was always possible.
"I know it's all really confusing. It doesn't really get much better, I guess." But she would try and help ease him into it.
no subject
Sora frowned. It was a lot to take in. Riku had been here, but he wasn't anymore. And Donald and Goofy weren't here at all. But the Organization was.
But at least Kairi was here. And that was something.
"Well... Well we'll just have to beat the Organization again!"
no subject
"I've got a place you can stay at." The good thing that had come with being here long enough, was that she had gathered enough 'shiny things' to get herself one of the townhomes. It'd be nice to have someone else staying there. Out of impulse, she wanted to invite Naminé (even Repliku, to make her feel more comfortable), but the girl seemed so uneasy around her....

He would finally get to spend time with Kairi again. It would be like back on the islands as soon as Riku got here--and Sora was sure Riku would show up again. And Donald and Goofy, too! He marched off into the city--and then came to an abrupt stop.
"Uh, where is it?" He grinned sheepishly.
no subject
She laughed at him, unable to help it. Sora probably hadn't even looked at the map yet, and already he was heading off on an adventure. Although, she hoped it wouldn't be too much of one, with how things had been going around here. She didn't want him to get in over his head.
"Come on, you," she chuckled, grabbing him by the arm and pulling him along, "it's quite a walk."
