Looking around him, all he saw was grass, and not the grass and plants he was used to seeing in the jungle. Standing up, he glanced around, seeing a dome ahead of him.
That's not normal. He thought, slowly making his way towards the dome, considering it was the only thing that he could think of going towards. It was the only thing there besides miles and miles of the weird looking grass. As he neared the gate, he noticed that there were lines of people standing outside.
The people began to notice him as he approached, and they began to panic. Simba lowered his head, realizing they were panicking because of him. Can't they realize I'm not going to hurt them? They all moved out of his way, and he reached the gate. The guard who was standing there was shaking and staring at him. He threw something around Simba's neck, then backed away as far as he possibly could from the lion.
Sighing, Simba entered the dome, then stopped a bit inside to take a seat and look at what he had been given. It looked like a box, and he had no idea how to use it.
"What is this thing?" He asked to no one, considering everyone was going around him, giving him a large personal bubble. "And why won't anyone come near me? I'm not going to hurt anyone!"

Most people weren't Squall. Admittedly he still wasn't precisely comfortable around a large predator, but he wasn't running away just yet. Besides, if things went horribly he did still have his gunblade with him.
"It's probably because you're a predator," he answered.
And one of the ones people tended to have an inherent fear of - on some worlds anyway. Not that Squall was aware of this of course, since the closest thing to a lion that he'd actually seen were Toramas.
no subject
"Oh...But I wouldn't hurt them." He said, standing to turn and walk towards the man who was brave enough to talk to him. "I guess it's understandable though...how many times have you run into a lion in the middle of a city?"
He looked towards some of the people who were just staring at the duo now. Were they waiting for him to attack? He wouldn't be doing that anytime soon. Timon and Pumbaa had taught him better than that.
no subject
Okay, so part of that was due to the fact that he'd never seen a lion, but really that was of less importance than the fact that if a predator showed up in, say, Balamb town that most peoples reactions would be to run the other way.
And possibly get in touch with the nearest SeeD division if it got to a major problem and didn't leave of its own volition.
no subject
"My name's Simba. Thank you for being willing to talk to me." He said with a small shake of his mane.
no subject
Regardless, he relaxes just a little bit, since it seems that physical harm is not horribly likely just at the moment.
"Squall," he answered simply. After a brief pause he continued, figuring that it would be best to answer the other comment as well. "Someone had to."
no subject
"And, what is this thing?" He looked down at the box around his neck that the guard had thrown at him on his entry into the dome. No explanation for that either.
no subject
"As for that, it's a journal. It lets you talk to people over long distances." Or longish distances, since the city wasn't all that big.
no subject
"Journal?" He pushed at it with one of his paws. "Would you be willing to show me how to use it?"
no subject
"...I guess," he answered after a bit, pulling his own journal out of a pocket. "I'm not sure how well you'll be able to deal with the buttons, but there might be a way to make it voice-activated." Presumably. He'd done quite fine with it in its default setting, but he had the advantage of not only opposable thumbs but also fingers. "Basically, you can post things to the network, or read what everyone else has posted. There's also a map, if you need." As he mentioned the different features he pointed out how to access them using his journal as demonstration.

Looking down, he was relieved to see he was in possession of both pants and his magical equipment. He supposed if he had to wake up in a strange place with know knowledge of how he got there, being armed was a good thing. Unless it just meant whoever abducted him didn't consider him a threat even with all of his weapons. Harry had tried maintaining a positive mindset, but found he liked being right a lot more.
Of course, his immediate surroundings didn't give him much to be optimistic about. Harry was pretty sure that there was nothing like the massive domed city before him anywhere on Earth, which meant logically he had to be somewhere in the Nevernever.
Harry swore. Loudly.
After a few minutes of though he finally decided to try and approach the long line of people waiting to enter the domes. While he wasn't exactly eager to go expose himself to a large group of what could be any number of dangerous beings, he really didn't see any other options. He would just have to be very cautious.
Of course, as he got closer he noticed people were a bit too focused on the rather large lion trying to get into the city to spare him a second glance. Harry decided that to take advantage of this opportunity to move through the line. He figured it was best to get moving before any attention started to focus on him. Besides, who wanted to spend all day waiting in line?
The one time someone did give him a questioning look Harry just smiled pointed to the lion and said, "I'm with him."
Reaching the front of the line Harry saw a small information booth with a stack of brochures standing under a massive gate designed to look like two giants crossing clubs. 'Oh yeah, that's a good sign.' Grabbing one of the brochures Harry turned to go through before someone protested when a guard, who still looked a little shaken, asked, "Your name sir?"
Harry quickly replied, "Barry Trotter. Say, this might sound strange, but can you tell me where this is?" Unfortunately for Harry the line decided now was a good time to move and he quickly found a small box pushed into his hand, and was himself shoved through the gate. He managed to regain his balance just in time to move to one side, where he promptly spotted the lion from before...talking. To a man carrying what looked like the unholy love child of a gun and a sword. Oh yeah, definitely not in Kansas anymore.
Deciding he would have to talk to someone sooner or later, he made his way over, making sure to catch most of the explanation the human (Squall) gave to the lion (Simba, before stepping forward and saying, "Uh, hi, my name's Harry. I think we're in the same boat, mind if I tag along?"
no subject
While he was looking, he heard someone come up behind them. When Simba heard a voice, he looked up and saw another human standing there. After he explained who he was and that he was new also, Simba spoke up.
"I don't, do you Squall?"
no subject
At least not right now anyway. If something came up later he'd just have to deal with it, oh joy.
"Not really."
no subject
Who said he couldn't be tactful?
"Alright, thanks. I appreciate it." Harry moved up to stand next to them, resting his staff on the ground. Looking over at Squall he thought about what to say for a moment before he asked, "So, who is in charge here anyway? I'm assuming this city has a government and police force of some sort."
no subject
He did, and managed to record something, hoping that people had seen Timon or Pumbaa somewhere in the city. After he finished, he turned back to the two humans, going back to their conversation.
Hopefully something would come through about his friends.
no subject
"Nominally in charge or technically in charge?" And if that didn't say something about the general situation of the city he wasn't sure what would.
"And I'm not entirely sure whether or not they have a police force."
no subject
Squall's statement definitely said something about the general situation in this city, namely that the situation was complicated. Well, at least Harry was reasonably familiar with complicated. "I suppose both. Need to know who's going to try and take my money and who's probably going to try and screw me over after all."
So, on top of a possibly unstable government, there was a chance this place didn't have a police force. Well, Harry supposed it was unlikely he'd been brought here for a vacation.
Turning to Simba he added, "Hey, any luck getting that to work?"
no subject
"It's a bit hard for me...I don't think these were made with lions in mind, really."
no subject
"Theoretically there's a mayor who runs the place. But the last one died, and no one's really sure whether or not they've managed to get someone else to take his place." And somehow the city just kept right on running all the same. Apparently whatever the mayor had been doing it wasn't precisely been critical to the stability of the show.
"The ones you have to watch out for are Organization XIII. They're probably the ones who are really running things."
no subject
Oh great Harry, you've been here a minute and you're already getting side tracked helping people.
Turning to Squall he listened to what the man's explanation, then said, "Okay, so the mayor's office won't return my calls, and Organization XIII, great name by the way, may be running things behind the scenes and should be watched for. Guess that means we're on our own for the most part?"
no subject
"Hey! That's Timon! He is here, somewhere." He said hearing the familiar voice come over the little speakers, warning him about some woman he had apparently responded to while Squall and Harry were talking about politics or something similar.
no subject
The portal was formed behind Simba as she continued moving, and with a hard shove backed by momentum, she blasted through the portal with Simba.
And then the portal was gone.
no subject
Oh yeah. He should probably mention the monsters, shouldn't he? "Also, you should watch out for--"
Unfortunately what exactly one should watch out for would have to wait, as Larxene's high speed entrance and exit abruptly cut off his train of that, hand moving up to the handle of his gunblade reflexively. He wouldn't have thought that they'd be so brazen as to kidnap someone while others were watching. Apparently he'd been wrong.
no subject
He turned back to Squall and paid close attention to what the man had to say. After all, understanding your situation was essential to surviving it, so he needed to learn as much as he could.
He leaned forward with an interested expression when Squall had started to warn him about something, when suddenly there was a blur of motion appeared to shove Simba through a portal that appeared out of nowhere. Harry had just begun to bring his staff up when the portal closed.
"Hell's bells, what was that?" Harry shouted. He'd seen a lot of strange stuff in his life, but that didn't mean the world couldn't find new ways to surprise him.
no subject
Too fast to get proper Scan off even, and he didn't particularly like the look of that portal that the pair had ended up disappearing into.
"And probably not inclined to play nice."
Which more than likely meant one of the Organization. What joy. Maybe he'd have to look a little more into finding some way to help get rid of them.
no subject
Bending down he began quickly scanning the ground for something while he spoke. "So, I don't suppose you have any idea where he might have been taken? Damn it, I can't find any of his fur. Figures I'd meet the one cat who doesn't shed."
no subject
"No idea. If whatever it was had been faster I might've been able to manage to get a Scan off, but..." he shrugged and let the sentence trail off. That portal could have gone anywhere in the city, and it was a pretty big city.
"I don't think he's left the city, though."
no subject
Harry knew it was ridicules to try and look at the moment, but he'd never been one to just walk away when someone was in trouble. Given that Squall had been willing to help total strangers, it was likely he was the same way, although Harry had been wrong before. Still, he would have a lot better chance if he had the taciturn young man's help.
no subject
He wasn't going to let them, if he could help it. Not when the target had been someone who hadn't done any harm, as far as he knew.
"Sure."
no subject
no subject
Which meant they'd still be in the city somewhere.
"We'll start at the center of the city," Squall announced. "We can work our way out from there if we don't find him."
no subject
"Sounds like a plan. Lead the way."
