What Do You Fight For? [active]
Character(s): Reno, Spot Conlon, and Beat
Content: meeting to discuss the Resistance
Setting: Paixao Central Station
Time: some unspecified amount of time after this thread
Warnings: none yet
Despite frequent appearances otherwise, Reno was actually fairly capable of being patient, should the need arise. That was quite possible one of the reasons he hadn't actually set a time for the meeting he'd proposed. That and the fact that he was fine with waiting at the station for as long as he needed to.
There were always people to watch and if his hair and clothes made him stand out more than he would have in a place that wasn't largely populated by blonds, well he didn't mind. And it would certainly make him easier to spot (pun not intended) when the people he was waiting for got here. Until they did he'd just occupy himself with people watching, leaning casually against one of the walls as he did so.

On the way, between keeping an eye out for his sister, Beat had decided to show Spot how his skateboard worked and was making his way down the streets, alternating between zig-zagging around citizens and obstacles and pausing to wait for Spot to catch up. Normally, when he went out with Rhyme, he'd let her catch a lift on the back of his board-- but Spot was not an eleven year old girl, and so he had to hoof it.
"Hey, bro, you say that guy was a redhead?" Beat called back as he spotted somebody up ahead with bright red hair. "I thinks I see 'im, yo."
no subject
He strode over to the man with all the confidence he hadn't left behind in New York, one hand resting casually on the cane in his belt, posture relaxed but completely self-assured as he looked the redhead up and down. He didn't look like anyone that Spot had ever seen, but then neither did Beat or half the other people they'd encountered on their way, but he wasn't about to let that throw him. "You Reno?"
no subject
"Who's your friend?" They hardly seemed like a pair that had come from the same place before ending up here and Spot hadn't mentioned the name of person he was going to be bringing, after all.
no subject
"Name's Beat," he said with a 'sup nod to Reno. "Me an' him're partners for the time bein', so where he goes, I go, yo." He squeezed his own shoulder a little bit nervously. "You th' guy who was talkin' bout tortures an' all that?"
no subject
"What he says," Spot chimed in, nodding to Beat. "What kinda torturin' we talkin' 'bout here?"
no subject
But admitting to that would hardly be appropriate here. It was far better if they see him as the lazy bastard he was.
"Haven't been able t' get quite as much on that as I'd like, yo," he answered a bit sheepishly. "From what I've heard 'sgot somethin' t' do with 'darkness'. And I ain't talking 'bout the kinda darkness that happens when you turn off the light, yo."
That moogle had mentioned something about dark magic, after all. Which he had to admit, certainly made a bit more sense for these experiments than just a lack of light.
no subject
"Well that don't make no sense," he said irritably. "Darkness ain't torture."
no subject
"So I takes it," he asked, crossing his arms and rubbing his chin thoughtfully, "ya ain't talked t'nobody dey took or dey ain't talkin' or dey don't let 'em go, s'at what ya sayin'?"
no subject
Not that he could really blame them in the long run. Especially not with the guys still at large, and Gaia only knew what they'd do if they found out that people had been leaking secrets. Word had it they were dangerous after all, and dangerous meant that caution was sometimes the best policy.
ooc: SORRY ;-;
He gritted his teeth furiously. "Whadda they think this is a game or somethin'!? Like hurtin' people is like playin' wit' toys?! Hell wit' that! What if they grabbed somebody like us who was just here on vacation?! They gonna get what's comin' to 'em- I'll give 'em a beatdown!"

no subject
Everything was harder when you didn't know where people where hiding and couldn't find someone who was willing to point you in the right direction.
"Ain't seen any cops, yo. An' I don't think 'sjust cause I've kept missin' 'em either. But yeah, you could call 'em part'f the government. The mayor sure as hell ain't the one in charge, that's for sure." That at least, was nothing new to Reno at least.
"Oh, an' one more thing. Whatever this is, it ain't a vacation. Don't start thinkin' it is."

This place was resembling the Reaper's Game more and more, and it was making Beat feel increasingly uneasy. "So if we can't smoke 'em out, how's we s'pposed to do anything?" If the group was as strong as they sounded, it wouldn't be easy to fight them. Beat, of course, could deal with them easily-- but there was Spot and this Reno guy to think about. Three of them would be all right in a brawl, right?
no subject
"What do we know about 'em?" he asked, hoping it was more than just that they were doing these experiments. "What kinda people do dey look for t'take? Or bettah yet, what do dey look like? Every gang's gotta identifyin' symbol or some'in, even if dey don't call 'emselves a gang."
no subject
Which meant that it wasn't really anything he worried about much, except for when a job ended up with him sitting in a jail cell somewhere. But usually either Rufus or Tseng busted him out before he could really have to deal with it much.
"They used to," Reno answered. "Used t' all wear long black hooded coats. But they've wised up since they ain't 'sactly the most popular people in the city." Let's see there was something else too. Now what had it been?
Ah. That was it. "Rumor has it they've all got an 'X' in there names, but that ain't a real good marker." Names were, after all, very very easy to assume and as long as you didn't slip no one'd know what you gave wasn't your real name.
no subject
"So they ain't gonna just come marchin' out if we challenge 'em, I figger," he mumbled, still looking somewhere far away. "What if we... set up somethin' so's they expose themselves or somethin'? Like a trap? Or I dunno, man, I ain't an idea kinda guy."
no subject
"Gotta find out what's gonna smoke 'em out," he said and turned back to Reno. "Any idea what dat is?"
no subject
Admittedly, he'd happily throw himself into the fray if he were ordered or if he weren't the only Turk around, but since neither was the case he'd have to exercise caution for the time being.
"Might be they'd come calling if someones made a big enough mess of somethin' though."
(SORRY ;-; )
no subject
"I says. Dat dey bettah watch out. 'Cuz dey ain't gonna be able t'ignore us when we get t'gethah an' give 'em what's comin' to 'em."
no subject
Two more wouldn't hurt.
"Alright," he said with a nod. "You'll do. Just one thing, yo. You gotta be careful 'bout lettin' people know you're in this thing. Don't wanna let the wrong people know 'til we come knockin' at their door."
no subject
no subject
"Yeah, sure," he agreed right along with Beat, "we gotcha. Ya don't gotta worry 'bout us blabbin' t'no one."
no subject
"You got any questions, let me know. An' if you can't find me, look up Zack on th' journals, he's a friend. Got it?"
no subject
Still, Beat supposed this was good for the time being. He had a partner he could count on, they'd made friends with a bigger group, and they knew to watch out for themselves. When and if Rhyme came along, she could hang with him and Spot and the three of them could figure this out together. Three heads is bigger than one and all that.
