She was here. Finally. After far too long waiting, Rinoa had finally come. Admittedly, she was still possibly in danger what with the recent outbreak of monsters, but she was here. He wouldn't have to be alone anymore. Not that... he'd technically been alone, what with Zack and that blond friend of his hanging around all the time but it just hadn't been quite the same.

And really, it was only natural that he come and find her after having waited as long as he had. He'd never wanted to to be forgotten, and well... he hadn't been around and who knew how long it had been for them back at home. Spending a while on the train was a small price to pay to get where he was going.

And once he managed to arrive at the gate, it was easy enough to look for brown hair in the sea of blonds. All he had to was find her.

Even if Rinoa had known any travel-type magic, Squall wouldn't have suggested they try it. He wasn't entirely sure it would work and one desolate, time-torn wasteland was quite enough for him.

"It's just us," he answered. Two was marginally better than one, but still, it wasn't precisely encouraging except for the fact that it meant that the others weren't trapped here like they were.

And possibly wandering why their commander and the last Sorceress had disappeared, but he couldn't exactly fix that.

Rinoa thought about it, and it made her a bit sad that the others weren't there, but the good side was that Squall was here with her. She wasn't alone.

She rested her head on Squall's chest, and listened to his heartbeat. It made her feel more comfortable, every time she heard it, it confirmed it was really Squall in her arms. She knew she would never mistaken him no matter what happened.

Neither of them were alone. Or not now at least, and dealing with strange new worlds was much easier when there was someone you knew beside you.

"We probably shouldn't stay here too long. The city isn't safe these days."

True, he'd yet to see any of the monsters in this part of the city but better safe than sorry.

She pulled away enough to see his face again.

"Not safe? Why?"

Rinoa's voice showed mostly curiosity, but there was a little concern mixed in there.

"There are monsters all over the city."

Or close enough to it at least. They weren't right here, obviously, but there was a reason he'd taken to bringing Lionheart with him whenever he went out into the city and it wasn't just because he felt generically safer having it around. It would have been nicer if he'd managed to find somewhere to draw from, but he hadn't been using much magic anyway since he got here. He hadn't needed to.

"Something about something else making them, I think?"

"Monsters all over the city?"

She thinks about it for a few moments before smiling at him. She wasn't sure whether Squall would appreciate what she wanted to do, but it wasn't going to stop her. Either way, she'd go through with it whether he helped her or not. She had always been stubborn that way.

"We should help clear them out."

Help clear them out? He'd sort of been doing that already... in a sense. Admittedly only in the sense of killing the ones he ran into, but that was better than nothing. It probably wasn't quite meant by 'help clear them out,' though.

"They haven't killed anyone yet, I think."

So presumably the people of the city were capable of dealing with the problem on their own, right?

"But they're still trying to hurt people, right? We should help keep them from doing that."

Rinoa was going into her Timber Owl mode. She wanted to help everyone out in any way she could, and if that meant clearing out the monsters, then that was what she was going to do.

There was a brief pause and then Squall nodded. "Yeah, I guess."

It was something to do at least. Not that he hadn't managed to keep himself busy before hand, but well. He might as well help, he supposed.

"Good! Then we're going to help any way we can." She told him, a smirk crossing her face.

It switched to a thoughtful expression soon after as a question came to her mind. Squall really did seem to know a lot about what was going on. "Squall? How long have you been here?" She asked him curiously. She had a feeling he'd been in Paixao much longer then her.

How long had he been here? Longer than he would have liked - too long left alone.

"A couple of months," he answered. It hadn't been particularly enjoyable, stuck in a world far away from anything and anyone he'd known with only a hope that people hadn't forgotten to come looking for him and that the Garden was still running without him being there.

He still didn't have answers for those questions, but at least he had someone from his own world beside him now.

She wasn't completely surprised to hear that answer, but part of her still was.

"A couple of months? I had a feeling you had been here longer then me but I didn't know it had been that long for you." It was no wonder he had been so glad to see her.
