Oho, this was a happy day indeed for the Dark Hero! No more accusations of being dead for him, nope! He had something that the network wanted, and once he gave it to them (under his own terms, of course) he was back in business! Movie deals! Record deals! Stardom off the charts once again! He'd be a household name! Nnnnnot that he wasn't a household name already, but he'd be so famous he'd be one all over again!
Akutare definitely had a spring in his step as he strolled along. Ma wouldn't have to worry anymore. He'd show her that he was still alive and they could get money again! They'd never have to worry about money again! She'd be so proud... And when he saw his little brothers again, they could have a big party in his honor with cake and confetti and everything else that went into a good celebration.
So close... Almost there... It was just another left at this strange golden tree and--
Strange golden tree? Since when were there strange golden trees in here? Akutare went over to curiously poke at the plant. Yep, real gold. You didn't see that every day. Well... As long as it was just sitting there... They could always use a little more money. Maybe he could pawn off this tree someplace. He snatched a few leaves and continued on (like anyone would miss them anyway), the change in surroundings not quite registering until he hit the line.
"Wow, must be busy... Hey, Director, how long do you think this line is?" Akutare asked, frowning when he didn't get an answer. "...Director?" He turned around and didn't see anyone. Huh, he must've run off to go to the bathroom or something.
The line went faster than expected, and he soon found himself at the front. "Can I have your name, please?" the gatekeeper asked.
"You don't recognize me? Oh well... You probably see tons of schmucks trying to imitate me come on through here... But don't worry, I'm the real Dark Hero Akutare!" he announced, grinning wildly.
The gatekeeper was far less impressed than Akutare would have liked, simply nodding her head and jotting the name down. "Welcome to Paixao! Please take this complimentary journal and enjoy your stay," she said, handing the purple device over along with a few pamphlets.
"Um.... thanks?" Akutare wasn't sure how to reply, simply taking the offered items and heading inside. It was then that everything began to sink in.
"Wait... Paixao? Then this isn't the studio?"

Besides, it kept him out of the way of Kefka and whatever trouble the man was likely to be causing. A pair of Returners - not that he'd seen Locke terribly recently - wasn't likely to be as useful against the man as he'd like. Besides, the Falcon had really been his best contribution to the little band and she wasn't here.
Besides it was interesting out here, with all the newcomers filtering in and he'd always been willing to watch as people passed by.

Jeez, what was with all of these people, anyway? They all looked the same, like extras gone... extra extra. One guy, however, looked a little different. Maybe he would have some answers for him?
"Hey! Hey, guy!" he called, dashing over. On closer observation, Akutare quickly realized that this man was a human. Weird, wasn't this a Netherworld? Oh well, there was that Adell guy, after all. "What's this Paixao place?"
He'd gotten answers over the journals, but considering the fact that he'd also talked to a hallucination-jester and a hallucination-cat, he wasn't entirely sure that everyone could be trusted.

"It's an island," he added on after a moment of thought. "And I rather doubt it's part of wherever you came from."
The rest depended on what he'd make of it.

It was pretty hard to believe. Some part of Akutare was still convinced that this was some sort of show. What else could it be? Why else would all of this be so... this? And, hell, if this wasn't, someone needed to make it one. Hm... Maybe if he could just find a camera...

"Seems this is one hand we can't deal out of so easily."

And Akutare didn't plan on leaving himself open to such an evil plot as that anyway. They'd have to get up pretty early to fool the Dark Hero like that.
What was with the weird gambling metaphor? Maybe that was just this guy's shtick. Or he was just as crazy as everything else in this place seemed to be. "So... Then what do you do?"
no subject
"Oh, a bit of this and a bit of that. I'm something of a wanderer, you see."
Even if he didn't have his wings at the moment.
no subject
"Oh, well, I'm a big star, you know. Akutare, the Dark Hero!" he announced proudly. "Maybe you've heard of me?" He hoped someone had heard of him. Well, besides Adell, of course.

And since it seemed like introductions were in order...
"Setzer, the Wandering Gambler."
no subject
Akutare frowned defeatedly. He should have known. But that was okay, he'd just show have to show everyone! The fame would just roll on in on its own after that.
He had to admit, though, this Setzer guy's title wasn't half bad. Although now the gambling metaphors made a lot more sense. "Okay, then what's there to do here, then?"
no subject
"It depends on what games you deal into," he answered. "But if you ask me there isn't quite enough to stave off boredom sometimes."
Admittedly his tendencies to prefer wandering over staying in one place didn't help but still it was all he could do to find things to capture his interest sometimes.

He whipped out the device, opening up the map and looking through. Let's see... What kind of places did this place have...?
Opera house. Booooooriiiing.
Art museum. Nuh-uh.
Park. Eh.
Library. Nah.
Night club. We have a winner!
Although it looked to be of the expensive, snooty type, a night club was a night club. He'd just have to make the bouncer see things his way.
"You've got a point," he said to Setzer, "I only found one thing that'd actually be fun."
no subject
Admittedly the rest hadn't proven to particularly easy to find either, but he wasn't about to let that stop him. At least so far. Boredom was much more of a threat here than anywhere else he'd been.
"There's something for everyone, it seems."
no subject
So... he'd just stick with the night club.
Akutare shrugged. "I guess. I'll just drop by there next!" he decided.
no subject
"I'm afraid you'll have to forgive me for not joining you. My game is most likely elsewhere."
Elsewhere here having the sense of 'wherever he found it' but he would hardly do to admit to having nothing to do when bowing out of something. At least, not if one wanted to keep some semblance of politeness.

Hm... a party. That wasn't too bad of an idea. Maybe he could go on his journal and advertise it, get a whole bunch of people to come. Someone had to be bored enou--interested in the idea. It was a once in a lifetime event!
As long as he didn't have to pay for anything, anyway. The Dark Hero wasn't going to go about footing any bills.
