(ah I'll put a title here when I think of something) [Active]
Character(s): Marona, Ash and a Djinni
Content: Marona finds one of the Djinni and worries about monsters.
Setting: Actua Are hotel near Niflheim/Paixao Center (J-7)
Time: Uh, afternoon?
Warnings: None. \o/
The only place Marona really knew where to stay was the hotel where she'd resided much of her time in Paixao thus far, so that's where Marona had led Ash to after they had reunited. All seemed fairly peaceful since then, although today, as Marona sat outside the hotel looking at her journal, she wasn't so sure that peacefulness was going to last.
She looked down at the journal she held in her hands worriedly. The latest messages didn't sound good at all. Monsters? What was going on? What monsters? She couldn't see anything around the Actua Are that seemed strange, but Paixao was large (a fact Marona knew well); just becase there was nothing out of the ordinary around here, didn't really mean anything.
If there really were monsters, maybe Ash and her should investigate and see if there was anyone in need of help! She would have to find out what he thought they should do, but considering they had the ability to help people, Marona felt it would be a waste if they didn't do at least something, wouldn't it?

Well, almost. As part of that, it was also stuck. Its efforts to wriggle free quickly carried into the tree above it, shaking its golden leaves and jingle-bell berries much too excitedly to be the work of the wind.
(Besides which, there wasn't any wind.)

He certainly felt it, a sense of false calm in the area. It all felt very fake, very numb. Ash couldn't feel things through touch, or whether the air was hot or cold, but he could feel the presence of evil, of unrest. As a phantom, these senses were heighten when all other senses were robbed.
He weaved through objects as he looked for Marona. Ash smiled softly, when he had met her, she seemed slightly different from the girl he was accustomed to. It was nice seeing her more upbeat again, it certainly affected his emotions as well.
"Good afternoon, Marona." Ash sat next to her, curiously looking over her shoulder, "What are you doing?"

She tilted her journal to him, showing him the posts, a more worried expression casting back over her face. "People are saying there's monsters in the city," Marona explained. "I wonder what's going on..."
She trailed off, her gaze drifting to the tree jingling. The plants here were so strange. Could you even still really call them plants? It seemed to be getting more noisy, but the wind...
Wait. There wasn't any wind, was there?
"Ah... Ash? Um... that tree keeps jingling, but there isn't any wind!"

Monsters? Here? Perhaps he was right to go with his gut feeling, this place felt safe. Too safe. After living on Ivoire, Ash knew things weren't always as peaceful as they would like to appear. It seemed like this world was no different, they had to be on their toes.
He scanned the journal briefly, "Don't worry, Marona." He rested his hand on her shoulder, "Whatever happens, I'll make sure you're safe." He smiled in reassurance, there was nothing that was going to stop him at this point in making sure Marona was safe. Not after achieving her dream, he was certain of this.
His eyes shifted to the tree, Marona's words putting him on alert. He stood quickly, materalized, and walked over. Monsters couldn't be this close already! ... Could they?
Ash extended his hand, there was something there alright. But... what was it?

The young chroma, wasn't really afraid of what could be in the tree, so much as curious. A terrifying monster couldn't really hide in a pot that size, could it? Why would anything dangerous be hiding there at all?
As Ash moved to investigate, Marona hopped to her feet, following up behind him. Staying close, she strained to peer around him to get a good look of what he'd find as Ash reached into the flowerpot. What could be there?

It didn't have much to think about them, just that they were nearby, and they were unfamiliar, and that, somehow, its instincts translated into a threat. Without warning, it dove at the nearer of the two, Ash, charged up with wind Psynergy to unleash on impact.

"Marona, stay back!" He yelled instinctively, the little bastard might have been lightning quick, but when it came to protecting Marona, Ash was faster.
He quickly held his free arm infront of him, blocking his face from the ensuing attack. It was a habit he had not grown out of since his days of being alive. The first thing one must defend was their face and eyes in a full-frontal attack. Those habits from eight years ago still lingered, reminding him fully of his humanity... even in death.
Just what the hell was this thing, anyway?

Without hesitation, Marona quickly bolted behind Ash for safety, but tried to stay ready to help, be it a heal or to confine Ash properly to an object. In fact, the chroma was already glancing around, looking for a suitable object should the need arise.
The flowerpot perhaps? Or one of the trees? Or maybe that rock over there... The phantom only had to say the word, and she'd be ready.
"Careful Ash!" she cried meanwhile, but Marona had faith in her guardian.

The Djinn rebounded off Ash's arm without doing much damage, and landed deftly on the rim of the flowerpot. Bristling, it wound up with a fairly potent bolt of electricity, and a second later unleashed it. The range was wide enough, and Ash and Marona close enough together, for it to be aimed at both of them at once.
no subject
He instinctively pushed Marona back as soon as he felt the energy around them was electrified. Ash sensed it in a form of prickling pressure around around him and as a ghost, he was unaffected by such an attack. Marona, on the other hand... he turned his head slightly towards her, still keeping his eyes on the monster and nodding.
"If you're going to do confine, you better do it now, Marona!"
no subject
She made a selection quickly. That flowerpot should do the job. "Valiant Phantoms, aid me in battle! Chartreuse Gale!" she called out, as waves of magic surrounded her. "Confine!"
no subject
Ash was ready for it, he had been ready for it ever since Marona learned of her powers. One moment, he was a soul wandering to and from the living and dead planes, the next he was breathing and as quickly as he had been summoned, he lunged for the tiny beast.
In the back of his mind, Ash felt a little sorry for this little guy. He had probably surprised him earlier, but that was no reason to attack Marona! With a swift jab, he planned to swat the tiny monster, to daze it temporarily. Ash moved quickly, feeling the electricity shoot through the air.
no subject
The Djinn didn't really notice or understand Ash's confinement, until the jab hit it square in the nose, knocking the little creature clean off the planter. On the ground, it flailed around more than tried to get up; the attack had thrown it momentarily for a loop.
This would be a good time to throw the Pokéba - I mean um
