United States vs. Disbelief [Active, Open]

He could've sworn he had felt his heart stop. He had closed his eyes, for the very last time, it seemed. His breathing had slowed down, had almost halted for good...but then he opened his eyes and here he was.

L, who had traveled many places around the world, could suddenly not place where he was. He raised himself up and took a look around; there was grass. He could see water farther off. Funny, was this the afterlife, just some island in the middle of nowhere? He felt dazed, his mind struggling to recollect all that had happened over the past few minutes.

He stood, and saw people. A small line, leading out from a booth, and a gate just beyond that.

L might as well die, and join the dead. His hands in his pockets, he skulked over to join the line.
