Don't be so down... [Active]
Character(s): Kairi, Cid, Naminé, Repliku, and possibly a drop-in of Riku
Content: Kairi pops back to the shop to try and cheer up Cid. Repliku takes Naminé to the shop to buy some new supplies. :DD
Setting: Cid's Shop
Time: Late afternoon (this probably is considered backlogged now since I think it's taking place either before Sora's arrived in the city, or at least before Kairi knows Sora is here)
Warnings: A moody Cid? Fainting Kairi?
It was wonderful to see Riku again, and to meet the King. She kept around them for a fair while, pointing out where there were good places to stay. But Kairi was a bit nervous. She wanted to know how things were with that meeting. She... had given them enough time to get done with, right? It shouldn't be too much of a problem with popping back... She told the two to keep in touch, gave Riku a hug, then went off back towards Cid's Shop.
Kairi stood outside the shop for just a bit, making sure that it sounded safe, the opened the door and poked her head in. Blue eyes scanned the shop. Everything looked to be fairly in one piece... At the very least it was still standing.
Seemed to have cleared out of everyone, too. Which was a bit of a letdown for her; she would've enjoyed running into Zack and Reno. Someday she was going to track down that pair. Zack owed her pie, after all! She forgot a bit on why. Something with her journal, was it...?
Now... "Hey, Cid? I'm back!" She called out, wondering where to find the man.

Consequently Cid was relatively easy to track be the not-quite steady stream of swears and assorted bangings. Then again, this was usually to be the case when Cid decided to work on fixing anything, and held true whether he was doing it just because or because he needed something to be in proper working order. Besides he'd always been of the mind that swearing was an excellent way to bleed of extra anger - fixing things just came extra.

Kairi couldn't really be sure.
"Hey there," she called over the man's back, hoping he would even hear her. She tried to peer around at what he was doing, but it barely even seemed productive. "Good to see the shop standing."
no subject
At a first glance there didn't seem to be anyone there but the sounds of banging and cursing made it fairly obvious that someone was actually in there. That didn't sound all too promising and he glanced at Naminé a bit uncertainly before deciding that whatever it was he could handle it (sprained wrist or not).
"Hello?"
no subject
Which didn't mean much except for that he was more grumpy than usual.
"Need something?" he hollered back in the general direction of Repliku's comment, not bothering to move from where he was.

Naminé followed Repliku inside, a little less hesitantly than before, and looked briefly around the shop. She couldn't immediately tell what it was a shop of, though. It looked, at first glance, like it stocked anything you could possibly need... or not need, either, for that matter. She wasn't even sure what all of this stuff was.
The noise and cursing made her jump, though, and when whoever was causing it yelled back at them her first instinct was to just say they'd come back later and leave him alone. But she bit her tongue; Repliku didn't seem too worried, anyway, so she'd wait and see what he thought.

Kairi looked away when she heard someone call out - a familiar voice. She popped her way into the mess (but it was almost all organized now! ...ish) of the main area of the shop and smiled brightly. "Rik -" and then she paused. Wait, no, this wasn't Riku. She just saw him recently, and this... just wasn't him. Still, Kairi smiled. "Oh, hello there." She remembered speaking to a boy that Riku was getting into an argument with. The one that seemed like him... but different.
And then the girl in white came in, and Kairi fell quiet, eyes widening just a bit. Something...
no subject
He narrowed his eyes at her suspiciously, unsure of why Riku had insisted the two girls had to meet until...
"Why do you smell alike?"
no subject
"How the hell should I know?" True, he hadn't been the one who the question'd been asked of, but he'd never let that stop him before.
no subject
At the same time, though, she found she wasn't at all upset or frightened by it. It was a different, strange feeling, like ... meeting an old friend, after not seeing them for a long time. She couldn't take her eyes off the other girl.
But Repliku's question quickly snapped her out of it. Naminé stiffened with an embarrassed squeak. "We smell?" she blurted before she could stop herself. She'd thought she was still mostly clean...
no subject
Even when Repliku spoke, Kairi's attention barely wavered from the blonde girl. If they smelled, then it was probably nothing bad. She probably would have noticed.
Kairi didn't want to be rude - she never was one to be - but the comment quietly slipped out before she could stop herself, though it was fairly quiet, and nervous. "Who... who are you...?"
no subject
"Ah no! It's not like that," he said as he quickly turned back to face her, his expression an embarrassed one this time. How was he supposed to explain this? "It...The darkness...it's er, hard to explain. But you don't smell bad or anything!" He faltered, unsure of how to put it. Darkness enhanced one's senses but it was different than having obtained, say, a dog's nose. It was as if you could smell a being's essence, whether they were of darkness, light or something in between.
Kairi's comment created a perfect chance to turn away from Naminé and the awkwardness he had brought upon himself. "This is Naminé," he gestured at her, the serious expression back on his face as he carefully watched Kairi. He didn't bother introducing himself however, he doubted she would care. Her attention was all on Naminé.
no subject
Well, whatever. It wasn't like it was his business if someone thought someone smelled like someone else. All he was really here for at the moment was to make sure nothing ended up becoming a major problem. Or at least that's what he was going to tell himself. He wasn't curious. Nope, not him.
no subject
She wasn't really sure why Kairi looked so spooked at her, either. She didn't want her to be afraid, not at all, and least of all because of her - the other girl was very nice, Naminé knew, and it just didn't seem right. She smiled to try and make her more comfortable. "We talked over the journals, once. A little," she expanded. "It's very nice to meet you."
Gently, she stepped forward and offered her hand to shake.
no subject
"It's nice to meet you, too. In person, that is." Kairi reached out and shook the girl's hand, but it didn't take long for her to stiffen, and she stared at Naminé strangely. "Wha -" she barely managed, before going limp and falling forward, loosely still holding the girl's hand.
no subject
Without saying anything he nonchalantly stuck out his arm in front of Naminé and caught Kairi before she could fall on top of Naminé. Tilting his head towards the blonde girl, he raised an eyebrow questioningly as if silently asking just what the hell had happened.
no subject
Which meant it was time to get some answers.
"What the hell's goin' on here?"
no subject
"I - I don't -" she stammered, unable to get anything more than that out. The words just kept tripping over each other in her throat. No, no, no, she'd hurt her, she hadn't meant to, she just wanted to shake hands and now look what you did-
"I'm sorry," she managed at last, frantically. "I didn't know-"

That was all he said to her before turning to Cid once more. "Hey, got a couch or something?" Although the weight wasn't that much of a bother, he'd still rather put the girl he was holding down somewhere as it wasn't exactly comfortable either. Who knew for how long she was going to be out.
no subject
Of course, even with that there was still a few chairs and such hanging around the place. He'd just recently had a meeting there after all. But couches? None present.
And like hell was he gonna let these kids into the part of the shop that was where he lived. They didn't have any business being back there. (And even if they had he still might not let them back there)
no subject
The question about the couch got her attention a little belatedly, and she looked around frantically for anything of the like. She caught a glimpse of a chair pushed into the corner, but Cid's yelling stopped her from indicating it more than faintly. "Um," she said softly.
This was awful, they were causing so much trouble. She was causing so much trouble. She should have waited outside, she thought now, but no, it was too late. The least she could do was try to help. She pointed to the chair a little more certainly than before. "Would it be all right if...?" she tried, but trailed off halfway, unsure of how to finish the question.
no subject
- why did Riku think they needed to meet? What was so important?
She couldn't explain the fluttery feeling that she had in her chest.
Cid needed to get a couch, she thought to herself. Good to know he cared; ah, though it wasn't that surprising, she supposed.
"I.." she swallowed, shook her head, and tried to give Naminé a reassuring smile. "I'm alright."
no subject
The replica's attention went back to Naminé when she muttered her little 'um' and he followed her gaze as she pointed at the chair. That would do. "Thanks Naminé." Without waiting for an answer he was about to step into the direction of the chair until Kairi suddenly swayed away from him. He stood still and simply watched her, ready to catch her again should she fall.
no subject
More so considering that he had absolutely no damned idea of what was going on. Would it kill the kid to be nicer? It wasn't like he'd done anything to the blonde girl. The whole thing was just damned weird and surreal.
Just what he'd always wanted to have to deal with after being run through the wringer that was ShinRa and Sephiroth.
no subject
Still, Naminé took a step backwards, toward the door. And then another, smaller, more tentative. Kairi was okay; there wasn't anything else she could do by sticking around here, was there? Maybe she should just leave before anything else had a chance to go wrong.
But she waited, just a little, to see what Repliku would do.
no subject
Although...
Distracted, Kairi stared down at her hand. Despite the dizziness... there had been a better feeling there... She wiggling her fingers a bit. Something told her to stop Naminé from going... but she was still far too distracted..
no subject
Well, whatever. It was getting late.

Besides, the silver-haired kid was damned annoying, not to mention more than a little rude. And to top it off he couldn't help but be reminded of the Remnants just be having the kid around and that hardly did anything for his already sour mood.
They could leave if they wanted to. Hell, he'd chase them out if he had to, and it got too late.
